October 2015 PTR: a “Halloweenie” and her Fearless Companion conquer their first HHN!

Well.... I'm not sure that we can be inlaws with this cheese thing. What if the grandbabies inherit the anti cheese gene? Not that I'm that in to cheese cake but....no carrot cake with cream cheese icing????? That's a deal breaker.

But....but.....I do like cheese ::yes::. In fact, I love cheese .....mozzarella, parmesan, cheddar, swiss.

But creamed or sour is a no-can-do . I know, I'm weird.

I must admit, I'm a bit sad that you have decided to call off the wedding over this. I thought our relationship was stronger than that  :rotfl: .

If you can learn to like carrot cake(I'll scrape off the icing) then we're back in business. When are you telling Jake?

Much as I adore you, carrot cake is as bad as (or possibly even worse than) cream cheese in my world. I mean, what kind of twisted and demented mind could come up with the idea to put a vegetable in dessert?!?!? :confused3

I actually mentioned to Jake that I was working on a deal for a prearranged marriage for him. He rolled his eyes, sighed, and replied with "Why I am not surprised?" and then promptly asked what was for dinner :rotfl2:. I don't think I can shock him anymore.

I got my "Your Stay is Just a Few Days Away!" email from the Vistana this morning. It's getting close!

Sorry Gina, but I am with Dancin' on this one. I am not a big dessert person. But if I was really hungry for a dessert and had a pastry counter loaded with desserts, I would run to the carrot cake without hesitation. I do enjoy cheesecake as well but not chocolate or peanut butter. I prefer the fruit desserts if any even on cheesecake although turtles would be good too!! Lemon Meringue Pie, Key lime Pie, Apple Crisp and of course carrot cake wuld be my desserts of choice.

Hi Gina:

Have been lurking without posting much recently. This trip in October sounds much like the trip my husband and I took in October 2012 for my 50th birthday (shhhhh! Don't do the math!! :upsidedow). Anyway, we enjoyed MSHHP when we went (went as a Chicago mobster and a flapper girl), and visited lots of off-site Disney, including waterparks, etc. I love Halloween more than hubby so we had to do a balance of things.

I just wanted to pop in and wish you a great trip! There won't be a trip in our future for quite a while :bored:, I suspect, so I'm counting on you and Steve to have a terrific time for us! We will live vicariously through your trip report when you return. Have a fantastic time!! pixiedust:pixiedust:

Hmmmm....I will admit, I'm no big fan of lemon pie either (too tart). Never had key lime pie, but I'd give it a whirl once just to see (I hear they have it on the menu for the Scareactor Dining Experience at HHN, so I'm planning to conduct a taste test on the 14th :thumbsup2). Apple crisp I just LOVE  (ditto for apple pie, especially if my mom makes it), and most fruit pies for that matter (except anything with rhubarb in it  ... gross).

I know I am definitely an oddball when it comes to my dislike of cheesecake. But I guess that's rather fitting, because I'm a bit of an oddball in a lot of ways ::yes:: . I like to think its part of my charm :teeth: .

Hey there, thanks for joining in!! :goodvibes

Sorry to hear there's no Orlando getaway on your horizon for a bit.....I will keep my fingers crossed that you might be happily surprised and get there quicker than you planned :thumbsup2 .

I am so happy to hear some more positive feedback on October vacations. After such a spectacular time in May, I'm worried that autumn will be a bit of a let-down where crowds and weather are concerned. We are super excited about the special events though. Like your hubby, I've never been big into Halloween, but this trip is definitely converting me!!

Don't be shy, feel free to keep joining in the chatter. The more, the merrier! (and feel free to chime in on the great cheese and carrot cake debate......are you for or against? :surfweb:)

You are bearing down on the trip. So excited for you!

I feel like if you tasted my zucchini bread, you might change your mind.

It definitely is coming so quickly!! A week from right now, we'll either be lounging poolside or playing Grand Event Bingo at the Vistana :dogdance: .

I'll let you have my slice of zucchini bread ;) , but I don't suppose you have a recipe for some killer coffee cake do you? Now that's a loaf I enjoy.....mmmmmm, cinnamon :cloud9: .

How is your trip planning coming along? Your time is whittling down quickly, too!

Ooh, most sweets I do like. Count down on one hand tomorrow! Time is just flying by. Am almost ready to look at the weather. It has been downright gloomy these last days. Hoping for warm sun and no rain. Not ready to retire my shorts yet. Was 52 degrees today. Jacket needed for sure.

Any order for a Tastycakes or other sweet from my town or near it? We are known for Just Born, like those peeps that my DSis likes stale! We also have Hershey and othe chocolate makers. So, I am happy to be toting a Halloween treat for ya.

So, in honor of HHN,

Hi Gina!

I'm sorry I disappeared from your pre-trip report. We had a loved one pass away in mid August, we had our vacation in September, and this past week, my girls and I have been sick/not feeling well. I haven't had much time to get on the boards. Sorry about that!

Your trip is so close now! Very excited for you guys and looking forward to hearing all about your trip when you get back. :goodvibes

Amen to the serious need for some good weather in Orlando....we're getting a very similar cold, dreary and downright depressing here too. We were 3 degrees Celsius here the other morning.......I have been using my heated seats on the way to work!!

Thank you SO MUCH for the offer for a Halloween snack!! (we don't hide our sweet tooths very well, do we? :o) Don't feel you need to do a darn thing.....you are sweet and kind just to have offered!.....but I will also not turn away anything that you happen to bring along. As an aside, I had to look up Just Born...that was one I hadn't hear before....and am I on the right track with these?:

Have you decided to do an HHN night at all, or just the Unmasking the Horror tour? I know you were considering an RIP tour at one point.....

Oh toystoryduo, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your loved one . My sincerest condolences to you and your family. Goodbye is the hardest thing to ever have to say.

I hope you had a wonderful September trip, but boo to you and the girls feeling yucky lately!! The change of seasons can bring on so many germs. Here's to feeling well again very soon :goodvibes .

Glad to have you back and reading along. Time is definitely passing fast now that we're down to the last few days. I have so much to do.....no lazy Sunday for us today!!

I think I'll get the suitcases out later today. Let's get this party...ahem, I mean PACKING....started!

Yo Gina! I wanted to pop back on here and wish you a truly great vacation! I hope you guys have a blast!

I scrapped our preliminary plans for a Thanksgiving Orlando trip, and we will now be going to Washington, DC the week after Christmas. It is what the kids really want to do, and it has many fun and educational attractions (most of which are free). I prefer the warmer climes, but what's a dad going to do?

Have fun! I look forward to the trip report (which I assume will be concurrent with the next PTR)!

Thank you, Gina! The past couple of months have been hard. It is never easy to lose someone you love. Thank you for your condolences.

We had a really good trip in September. It was soooooo crowded at Disney though!:crowded: My DH is talking about us possibly taking a year off from the Disney parks, so I am eagerly awaiting your trip report when you get back. You guys always find the coolest non-Disney places to go!:thumbsup2

Just 4 more days now!:jumping1: I hope you were able to get some things marked off your to do list this weekend. I love the excitement we feel before the trip, but sometimes, it seems like we cross one thing off the list and add three more. LOL!

Have a great day today!:goodvibes

Washington after Christmas sounds awesome.....free attractions are always a bonus :thumbsup2 . While those kiddos are still young, definitely go where their interests lie. It makes for a better family vacation all the way around!! (and hey, its fun to do something different too ::yes::)

I am guessing there will be no PTR for the Christmas trip....we won't be back home until October 19th, and then leave again on December 18th. By the time I get organized and caught back up here after this October getaway, I'll be lucky if I get that trip report done before we're jetting off again :rotfl: . I will be sure to post a link here for the TR once its underway, and I may even drop in now and again while we're there to say hello and let you know what the weather is like :). A little "live reporting", if you will.

So, stay tuned!! :surfweb: You never know when I may pop up.
