The October 2015 Live Trip Reports!

making me jealous here. Hope Snowmedic is doing well on their trip down. Just read that 75 miles of Interstate 95 are closed in South Carolina due to rain. Safe travels to all.

Serenitygr, your pictures are priceless. The carriage ride looks like a great experience. Hope the boys are on the mend, and the illness flew out your camper to enjoy the rest of your trip.

Thanks Captain Buzzkill! Just because you cannot go, you don't need to spoil it for those who can! LOL Seriously, thanks for the heads up. I know Snowmedic was debating to go a more westerly route down 81/77/26/95 but I did see even that area got hammered. According to the weather channel this morning, I26 was closed due to floods. the GA/SC border could have issues as well since there are a number of river deltas that are going to flooded out. Of course I do not have a CB in the truck for this trip. I will have to play it by ear and look for any warnings issued by the local highway patrols. I know the 511 programs do have some good resources when areas are impacted by adverse weather conditions.

Pulled into the Fort at 5:30am have yo wait till 6 to get site assignment. This trip took an extra 3 hrs and 250 miles longer because of the flooding in N.C. Sirenia, check road conditions before heading out. And the site number is 1643, will explain later.

Will post more later.

Snow Medic, already on it. I saw a huge chuck of 95 is closed off between 20 and 26. Not good. Will probably roll down 81 to 77 to 26 depending on conditions when we leave on Tuesday afternoon. Fun times!

Checking in Thursday 10/8 will post site. Staying through 10/19. No kids 50 something couple heading down from SC for food and wine. Love to meet some other fun folks.

I was SO disappointed to have absolutely NO internet connection in the 2000 loop and no cellular network.
I was thrilled that the tent had NO leaks during the showers and rain this weekend...back in 2 weeks!
We also loved the turkeys, deer, squirrels, possum, and the frog that was IN the shoe just outside the tent. Neighbors were GREAT- one baby seemed to have trouble sleeping, let out a cry and calmed each time mom said "shush"....that mom had a way to calm that baby that I've never heard! Cry, shush, quiet...15 minutes repeat...I lay there smiling...so cute.
Is there a way to upload pictures without a url?
If a family with children named Michael and Ana stayed in the 2000 loop this weekend is here on the boards, hope your travels up to the Carolinas was safe- absolutely wonderful children you have (we met at the tether ball).

Sure.

Just below the post input box on the lower right, click the "Upload a File" button", navigate on your phone or hard drive to your picture file name, and choose the "Full Image" option.

Waiting PP Croc.gif

Would love to see how it went. Sorry about no internet.

Snowmedic,
Glad you made it in safe and sound brother. Was wondering how you were doing with all the flooding. I got you added to the opening post with your site number.

Nabi,
Glad you had a good time but sorry about the internet. Good of you to wish the other campers safe travels.

October is starting to come together nicely...

Had beautiful day at Hollywood Studios today- the weather here just couldn't have turned out anymore perfect! We did everything there we wanted to do, and then came back and ordered pizza and relaxed! Got to go looping a little bit tonight and had the pleasure of meeting snowmedic and his family- that was great! Also found the sites for YellowstoneTim and Benjyt, but no one was outside so we didn't get to meet them yet :) Still hoping to in this next week! Our 2 older boys that got sick first are doing better- just stuffed up and a little coughing now. Our youngest boy and girl (they are 10) now are coughing, and he had a sore throat, but that's letting up a little bit now. By the time we leave in a week, we should all be pretty healthy LOL

Found a special friend for Tiggerdad today!

Up at the Meadows pool to do some posting. Have a good internet connection. Will be going to the Meadows to see about a router in the morning.

So, this morning we arrived and checked in at 6 am. We went to our assigned site, 1923, a full hookup site, we were the only tent in that loop. Being in the car for 30 hrs. we just wanted to shower before doing anything else. The walk to the CS was long. We did notice a site closer that was empty. Went back up to the Outpost to see about switching. i know that this is a sore subject but on this forum but I am going to tell the story anyway. When we inquired about switching we told him the site number and he punched it in on his computer, only to tell us that the site is not available, there is someone there. So this is an actual encounter with a "throw away site". My DW looked confused because she did not now about this practice and I explained it to her, in front of the CM.

They did not have a site ready so we left our number for them to text it to us. We walked around the campground, went to the hot tub and pool to relax
and walked some more. Well at 1 pm we finally got our site, 1643, we hurried and set up our screen house and unloaded the car so we could go over to Palm Bay and grab all of our regular camping gear from storage. Had lunch and finally got back at about 5. Got everything set up and the mickey lamp out in front of the site. I am a little upset, I looked all through the house for my Dis sign, couldn't find it, looked all over the storage unit and it wasn't there either. Only thing that makes any sense is when we moved in Feb. it got put somewhere other that the bedroom in the new house. I am going to have another one made on Friday.

Had a visit from serenitygr tonight, it was nice to meet you, hopefully we can catch up again. We are usually at the pool in the evenings.

Getting late. If you are travelling to the Fort have a safe Journey.

Serenitygr,
You are the bomb! I hope you fed the little guy for me. If not...don't be surprised if they pick your lock while you are away. He looks familiar, I think I played a game of dice with him last November on site 1446. Lost a box of cereal on that game...

Vince,
Yes the "throwaway site" is alive and active but until Disney decides to close that loop we have no choice but to deal with it and book way in advance. Bummer about the sign but sure you'll find it as soon as you have another one made. That would be my luck at least.

Nabi,
I don't see a magic band on that little critter. Did you call security on him? At least you know he has the same taste in shoes as you.

Snowmedic,

Get in touch with me. You got my contact info. I will see what I can do about a sign for you. No promises though.

OK- up and at em this morning! Joe and I are going on the Keys to the Kingdom tour today- it's my birthday present to "me"! :bday: I am SO excited about it! I think the tour is about 4 hours- then we'll try renting the sea racers at the marina. Tonight is the Pirates and Pals cruise, and also our "extended family's" last night. We'll miss them, but it will also be good to just focus on our family and kids for our last week here... I really can't believe how fast the time gone.....

Going to have a cup of coffee this morning before go, and will get some more pictures posted this afternoon, I hope! I'm glad you liked the squirrel, Tiggerdad! Upon consulting with him, he did confirm meeting you before- said to tell you thanks for the cereal :flower:

Everyone have a great day, and safe travels to those of you on the way!
