Official 2015 Quick Service Meal Substitutions *Post Here*

Has anyone subbed at WPE at DTD ? We always use a qs credit here and are wondering what others have been able to sub.

We just returned from Disney and ate at WPE at DTD several times for dinner. Unfortunately, we were not able to sub our drinks for a side- the cashier said subbing was not allowed. I assume this is because WPE is not owned by Disney?

We were able to sub out our drinks for a side or another dessert at every single QS location we ate at including BOG, Boardwalk Bakery, Gasparilla Grill, and Columbia Harbor House with no problems.

Just got back yesterday and successfully substituted a few times but not always without issue:

BOG lunch I preordered with soup instead of drink and CM at register told me only the dessert could be substituted out for soup. I insisted that's not what the official brochure says and she went to grab another CM (I'm guessing a manager, different uniform). The second CM agreed that I could get a soup instead of a drink, but told the first CM to enter it incorrectly. I don't know how they have their system set up exactly, but they obviously did it wrong. Entered it into computer like I was getting a drink, then radioed the kitchen that the order should have a soup instead. So, the receipt didn't match the order and I received no soup or cupcake with my entree. This was remedied quickly by the CM who brought our food, but then they sent out a duplicate drink for my sister. No idea where that miscommunication came from, but eventually got all the food we ordered plus an extra drink they told us to just keep.

Used QS credits for snacks at Karamell Kuche twice. First time was quick and easy. Second time there wasn't really a problem but it took the CM quite a long time to ring it up.

Substituted desserts for drinks at Casey's and Capt. Cook's flawlessly.

I would think that since they are a part of the DDP they would also be required to sub. I hope we have that option for our upcoming trip, we really enjoyed WPE.

I plan to bring a copy of the QS DDP brochure with me at all times as a reference just in case we run into issues like this. We will be sharing 3 people's QS credits among 5 people (one 3 year old) so I am hoping to use subbing to stretch our credits and keep us from spending OOP on top of the credits. We had had 4 credits among us the way it worked out last year and it was often too much food so we're hoping this works out well, especially with the subbing.

Thanks for the info and nice to hear about the successes as well!

Just remember, the more fuss people make, the more compelling it will be for non-Disney restaurants to opt out of the DDP altogether. You may get what you want this time, but find they are no longer on the plan the next time.

One more thought. Disney changed the rules mid-year, so even though the brochure says it is effective, they can always fall back to the contract they signed and tell you no.

I truly wouldn't be trying to make a big fuss or be mean about it. But when we are both standing there looking at the page in the current year's brochure that states I should be able to sub the drink, dessert, or even *both*, I do think that is something that should be honored, regardless of when in the year the changes occurred (not my problem, quite honestly :confused3, although I totally understand where the restaurant would be coming from as far as the contract as they signed it). Again, I hope it doesn't come to that and everywhere we go is aware and helpful with the policy if we want to use it, but just in case I will be prepared with a printed copy.

Unfortunately, the problem you will have at WPE, even with your brochure, is the wording:

B = Breakfast L = Lunch D = Dinner Each meal from a Quick-Service location includes one (1) single-serving: For Breakfast • Entrée • Non-Alcoholic Beverage* For Lunch/Dinner • Entrée • Dessert* • Non-Alcoholic Beverage* * May be substituted for any item that is an eligible snack at the location.

WPE doesn't have any eligible snacks.

Good catch. I plan to eat there on our trip, and I'll keep this in mind. In the past, we have shared counter service meals because they are often too large for one person. I'd love to get an entree, and 2 drinks, so we can split the meal easy. DH and I have similar taste in food, but not drinks so sharing a drink is out of the question.

Ah! That makes total sense then. I would not press the issue at WPE in that case, didn't realize they didn't have any official DDP snacks on their menu. And will be on the lookout for that issue at other locations too but I doubt too many QS have that going on.

I'm really hoping by Feb, everyone (CM's) are at least close to being on the same page with this. This whole thread sounds to me like "At what rides did you have a fast pass for that they actually honored" The substitutions are Disney policy, it is written into the guidelines and rules. This isn't a bunch of DISers acting like lawyers and trying to find a way to exploit a loophole or game the system... it is a part of the program. And it has been for a few months now. Its time this program became the norm, and not require a manager to get done.

I substituted my drink at QS BOG for the soup....still got my entree and my cupcake dessert. Dh got the regular entree, dessert, and beverage. There was NO problem with the ordering part....the problem came when the food came.....no soup for me. I'm guessing they coded it similarly to the way they coded it for you......it took a little while but the cm with the food cart came back with my soup a bit later.

At Flame Tree we substituted the dessert for onion rings and dh and I split the QS meal. I think that is the extent of our substitutions.

The soup always comes out on a different order whether or not you've ordered it as a substitution for something else. Sometimes it comes out before the rest of your food and sometimes it comes out after.

New to the DDP in April, so I am sure you all will have the cast members trained by the time we get there! But... we are not big sweet eaters so a salad/fruit plate might work for us. what else can we switch for? has someone made a list yet? I do not want to go thru 8 pages to see...

I believe there is now OFFICIALLY no distinction between adult and child QUICK SERVICE credits. Table service credits still have differentiation though.

Would anyone else like to weigh in? I still can't find a definite answer if we can get a adult meal with a child credit. Thanks!! :)

At a quick service you can have any snack (shown with the purple DDP logo next to it) instead of dessert or drink. All Ears menus usually show snacks marked http://allears.net/dining/menu

I don't think many quick service places offer salads or fruit as snacks. Salads are generally entree sized and fruit is a seperate snack at other locations, or if a QS offers fruit it would count as dessert anyway. Although resort food courts will offer fruit salad you could have as dessert.

Jon18uk... the salad or fruit plate, i believe now after doing some searching, is only offered if you do not want a dessert from a table service?!?!?!?! correct?

At CS restaurants you can choose an item with the purple DDP snack logo next to it. At Table Service restaurants, the choice is usually at the discretion of the restaurant. While there might be a salad or fruit plate on the menu, it might not be the option the restaurant is offering. For example in place of dessert one restaurant was offering a green bean side dish. However, if you want dessert, but not a sweet one, you can ask what alternative choices are available.

thanks for all the good replys on quick service and snack credits...always helps

There has been no official confirmation from Disney that it is possible, so it is at the discretion of each restaurant. You can ask, but a swap is not guaranteed. Whereas the brochure states you can swap at QS so you definitely can get a snack in place of dessert.

Generally speaking though TS desserts are better quality that QS ones so you shouldn't feel the need to swap as often in my opinion anyway.

Here now. We had no problems substituting at Landscape of Flavors and Goods to Go. ( qs placed at resorts for those who don't know) Let me just warn you that when you sub out your drinks for sides or extra desserts, it is A LOT of food. At both of these places we didn't even have room on the table for all of it! We will definitely be sharing from now on.As an example, at Landscape of Flavors we got 2 grilled fish and 2 beef platter that came with 2 sides and naan bread. DH subbed out his drink and dessert for a soup and salad. DD and I subbed out our drinks for extra desserts We got a massive turtle brownie, a pecan tart ( looked dry but was delicious!), a chocolate dipped cheesecake and a 2 flavor cup of gelato.
