Someone on Tikiman's page said they got one for their stay on 3/18. If I'm renting points, would they send me one if it applies to our stay on 4/2? I'll let everyone know if I get one if I'm supposed to.

Just got back from 3 days at Poly. I requested 3rd floor, Aoteoroa, and got both. Our standard view room (3217 - the very end of the building, top floor, facing MK) had a view of the castle in the corner of the balcony, and actually had a great view of Wishes. :) We loved the convenience of the resort, and everything was great. No issues with construction, and the luau noise was done by 10:15 every night. Check in and concierge were friendly and helpful. The pool wasn't overly crowded the one afternoon we used it.
Our only complaint was that the room was VERY damp. I'm assuming that this wouldn't be an issue if the a/c didn't turn off, but our room was unoccupied for at least the night before we checked in, and everything felt wet. I'm surprised there were no mold issues (that we could see, anyway).
If the budget allows, we will definitely be staying here again!

So, you guys have me sold on Poly! We love staying at the YC, but I really want to try something new. I am nervous but with everyone's great reviews and stories, I am less nervous. I have always wanted to stay at a monorail resort and with three princesses, what better resort. We are going with my parents and staying CL, the last week in April 2016. We got an awesome Magical Deal! I can't wait and super excited about this trip.
Can any of you offer some points or secrets for a Poly Virgin? TIA

I've been debating making a room request.....never made one before anywhere, just took what we got. Pretty much all our deluxe stays have been on rented points and I never wanted to bother asking the owner to put in a request for us, but think I may request Moorea for our January trip. Sounds like the best choice! Don't really care about distance to GCH or pools; care more about a nice view but it's not that important.
How close to the TTC is Moorea?
Morea is the longhouse closest to TTC. ENJOY!:cheer2:

No more than 2 minute walk

<Almost> Just got back from an 11 days stay at the Poly (09/11 - 09/21). We did not spend too much time at the resort, but enough to know I probably wont be going back. Its just not the same, and cant imagine any complete construction changing too much.

We got a text around 10:30am stating our room was not ready, but feel free to go to the parks/dine etc..with our magic band. Since I did online check-in, everything was ready to go our first morning without stopping at the resort first. We arrived around 10:45am and planned only to park the car and head to the MK for our 11:20 lunch reservation at the plaza. We had no problems getting our car pass at the gate and as soon as we parked the car, we got another text stating our room was ready. We made a quick decision to sun to the room with our luggage and drop it before heading to the MK.

We were on room 3807. Rarontonga, 3rd floor as I requested.

If you are interested in this building, I will tell you the first number of the room is the floor you are on.
The left side of the building (facing construction) are numbers 3801 - 3813. Rooms 3814 - 3826 face the gardens /parking lot/monorail side.
Our room 3807 was 1/2 way down the hall. Since the elevator held about 1 person, one suitcase and possibly a cupcake, we took the stairs all the time. Aside from the small elevatore, mousekeeping was using it every morning/afternoon (they left around 5pm) Stairs were the fastest easiest way to go.

So, of course, I ran to the balcony to look at my view...

Beautiful and tropical :)

I somewhat expected it after reading DIS for many months prior to uor trip, so I really didnt care much that this was it. Like I said previously, we didnt spend much time in the room.

So...the rest of our room looked like this..

Really large balcony, This picture doesnt do it justice for the size.

Really spacious room with queen beds and a day bed.
We used the bottom cabinet of the night stand to store our shoes.

12034243_903983946303369_4922335324259806570_o.jpg

6 deep dresser drawers for our clothes

Large bathroom with double sinks. I have to admit, the huge attration the the Poly for me is the door at the vanity area. I love going in, closing the door and getting ready for the day without waking anyone, which has happened to me many times at hotels with exposed vanity areas.

There was also plenty of storage for our clothes. I was surprised, however, that you can not store your suitcases under the beds, as they bed frame is solid all the way around. Our 3 large suitcases and 3 carryons took up a good amount of closet space

There were 2 closets like this...

And a minifridge/coffee station area

So that is it for the room.

Other photos I took around the resort......

So Cute...

This is the distance between Rarotonga and the GCH. Just steps away. Really convenient in the rain :)

This is the main gate to the pool area. The lock never worked. The other gate doors around (about 2 - 3 more of them) worked fine, but not the main one. Pool hoppers galore when I was there.

The Pineapple Lanai was open pretty late, which I loved. I want to say 11pm-ish. I think they opened around 10am. The ONLY things they serve are dolewhips and plain vanilla softserve.

The luggage staff are out there very early for those with early morning flights, or those who want to drop their bags early, then spend time in the parks before leaving Disney..

This is one reason I would hesitate going back to the Poly. Starting around 6:30am, diners starting flooding the lobby/pool area/parking lots Its a very popular resort for meals. It gets very loud, people everywhere and the big issue for me was that we rented a car and when we came back from a non monorail park, I could barely find parking withing 10 minutes. I would have to wait for people to come out and follow them to their parking spot. It was like Christmas shopping at your local mall!

These people were waiting for Ohana breakfast at 6:30am! I didnt open for another hour!!

More shopping!

I wont post pictures of the pool/lobby as Im sure everyone has seen those a million times!

We had a great time, but found the Poly hasnt changed since the last time we went. Still pool space issues, still parking issues (also, if you go through the "return guest" left side of the parking gate, it is very difficult, at least for me..but Im short!...to reach the scanner with the magic band on my wrist. I always had to take it off and hold it in front the the scanner), loud and busy resort. But...it still smells wonderful :)

wow, wonder why they were waiting at 6:30am for breakfast that wasn't open for another hour!?!? Maybe they didn't have ADRs and were hoping to slide in early without one? Weird!

I have NO idea! And as you can see, it was more than one family with the same idea! I wish, too, I had taken a picture of the "stroller parking" area. HUGE. It was right at the top of the stairs where resort guests need to go to get to the monorail. Between the people waiting for ressies and the strollers, the top floor was jam packed all day and night.

I would 1000% prefer the nice quiet Contemporary over the Poly. Beach Club also looked as beautiful as ever and not too crowded over there either. We ate at several resorts, BC, YC, WL, AK, GF during our stay and I didnt see any other resort nearly as over crowded as the Poly.

How was the wine selection at the Poly's store? I like to have some vino in my room...cheers!

They sold wine at Captain Cooks and the Moana store. I know at CCs it was Sutter Home. Not sure about the store, but looking at the picture, the selection looks like different brands. Im sure its all the cheap stuff :) !!

Thanks for your review and great pics.:thumbsup2Disappointing to read ONCE AGAIN about the pool gate not working.:sad2: If there is a gate, the darn thing should work properly, COME ON! >:(Unfortunately, it looks from your pics like you did hit rain. Yay to Pineapple Lanai from another Dole Whip Lover!:cheer2: Hope you enjoyed your trip!:goodvibes

Thanks for your help! I just asked the owner to put in a request for Tokelau top floor. I want to be closer to GCH and, from looking on the map, I see it is centrally located. I read tikiman pages too and they recommend Tokelau saying that there are no bad views. Anyway, putting in a request seems to be just that: a request so I might end up in Pago Pago anyway with a view of the parking lot, who knows. :confused3
But hey, I am just happy that I get to go to The Poly, any room will do! :jumping1:

I hope you get a great room that meets your requests :goodvibes.

In the process of booking our "magical trip" at the Poly for next August. So excited to already have another trip in the works before we even head off on our trip this fall. It always helps the Disney blues to know you have another trip to look forward to and plan. Looking forward to going back through this thread and learning all about the Poly! :) Aside from this thread and the tikiman pages, are there any other resources I should check out?

Good luck with booking for next year. It's never too early to start planning another trip ;).

This is getting me so excited for my January trip! Thanks for all of this information!

January's not that far away, your trip will be here before you know it :yay:.

Ok now I'm considering changing my request to moorea. :ssst: Do you think the pool renovation will be done in March? I don't want a view of a mud pit if I choose Tokelau!?

As MouseMum posted, construction on the pool started a couple of months later than expected, so that could possibly delay completion for early spring.

We check in in 19 days!!

:banana::banana:

Glad you had a great time and enjoyed the Poly :).

So, you guys have me sold on Poly! We love staying at the YC, but I really want to try something new. I am nervous but with everyone's great reviews and stories, I am less nervous. Can any of you offer some points or secrets for a Poly Virgin? TIA

The Poly is amazing, you will love it! We've never stayed CL so I can't comment on that, but we love everything else about the resort. The grounds are beautiful and relaxing, the pool is great, Captain Cooks is great for quick CS meals/snacks, and it's magical seeing the castle every day. We have stayed at other resorts and while we have loved them all, the Poly is our favorite. Hope you have a great trip :wizard:.

I apologize if this has been answered before, but we are staying in Club level (our first at the Poly)in December and wanted to know how accommodating they are at specific room requests in Hawaii and if anyone has recommendations (We have 5 in party, one is disabled adult, one is 4 yr old boy) for a decent view? Should we request 1st or 3rd floor? I believe those are the only floors with balconies.
Thanks for the help!

I can't speak specifically about Poly CL CMs, but overall, we have found the CMs to be very accommodating when possible. If upon check in you find your requests weren't met, you can always ask if something else is available. It's not guaranteed your room can be changed, but they will do everything they can to accommodate you :). You are correct that you would need to request 1st or 3rd floor if you want a patio or balcony as 2nd floor rooms don't have balconies.

<Almost> Just got back from an 11 days stay at the Poly (09/11 - 09/21). We did not spend too much time at the resort, but enough to know I probably wont be going back. Its just not the same, and cant imagine any complete construction changing too much.

Thanks for your review, as well as all of the great photos :wizard:.

Have a crazy specific question, but any of you that have done laundry during your stay, do you remember which laundry detergents they sold onsite? My DH and DD both have sensitive skin so wondering if they have Tide Free liquid. We are flying or I would just bring a bottle, and seems wasteful to order a bottle for at most two loads. I'm hoping I won't need it at all! And sorry if this was answered before - my tablet is giving me problems today! Thanks for any help and advice!

I've booked garden view CL for my family for January and requested first floor. From what I've read, I'm starting to believe CL may not be worth it right now with the noise from construction, since our 16m old daughter will need to nap during the day...plus, view won't be as epic as the marina view from fiji(original request) This will be our first time staying at the Poly. Is that something I should even worry about?

My family and I have sensitive skin too so I just carry "Tide Free and Gentle Pods". The Pods are super easy to pack into the luggage, never had any issues with them bursting in the plane ride either. I usually use the liquid at home but I buy a box of the pods before any trip and bring a couple with me. I just throw a few in a ziplock with a "free and gentle" dryer sheet and voilà, problem solved.
