One caveat about "free Wifi" at the Fort

Since I installed stationary satalite my cable connections in the bay where repurposed for that. So What I do is split the connection and send one cable through the window for the cable modem and another to the outside TV connection to back feed it to the TV's so I can get local channels. Even with the thick canopy at disney I seem to be able to pick up a few movie channels which is all I need at most when I am there. I spend so little time in the camper when I am there, but I do need some internet connectivity and since I don't carry a WIFI puck on my cell service its the next best thing. If I am having issues with slow CM access at disney for something imporant I can always use my phone as a backup hot spot, but that chews into data.

Checked in today. All set up.Got the cable TV channels going. Got a modem from the meadows trading post. Hooked it up. Hooked up my new Belkin 300 wifi router. Pluged in the modem, then the router. Like magic, we have wifi!!

Moved to iPad which still means typing is bad. I think this page says the same thing but might be clearer.

Did they give you some other box for TV service? I'm trying to figure out why it references an HDMI cable.

I believe there is a digital cable box for older TVs. The OTA Hd adaptor wont work on the cable channels. But if you have an HD TV it can tune into the channels, its only if you have an analog and want the digital channels I believe.

The Cable modem does not need HDMI.

Yeah, I kept a travel wi-fi router in the RV just for Ft. Wilderness. I found the internet to be a bit slow though and ended up getting a personal hotspot from my office that I ended up using most of the time.

If you still want to get a router, there are several (fairly cheap) ones on Amazon.

do you also need to get a modem for use in the cabins, first time staying in cabins

Betty, from what I've read here the cabin loops do have real wireless WIFI. No modem required. It's the camping loops that are treated like second class citizens.

have real wireless WIFI. No modem required

I can confirm that as we stayed in one earlier this year (they do actually still use the modems in the cabin but all the cabins already have them so there's not anything you have to do, go get, or bring).
