Official 2015 Quick Service Meal Substitutions *Post Here*

Has anyone been able to convert dessert at Columbia Harbor House to soup? or would it just be fries, couscous, broccoli or coleslaw?

I'm new to posting, so sorry for mistakes. My husband and I had chili and couscous instead of dessert and a beverage the other day at Columbia Harbor house. He had the fried shrimp as the entree and I ate the chili and couscous. We both drank ice water. So we both ate on the one meal credit.

Also, we got onion soup instead of a beverage at Be Our Guest. I know some people said they had trouble doing this, but we did not. We had no trouble making any substitutions on our trip.

Ok... So how many people were able to substitute the drink for a side at a resort because we have the refillable mug?

How many people were able to get a cup of water at a MK QS restaurant and get a side instead? Is that even allowed?

Im hoping to learn more about trading the drink for a side at quick service food courts (using mugs instead) or in the parks (drinking water).

You should be able to easily substitute your drink for a side at your resort.
You can absolutely get a free cup of water at any time, even if you order a side instead of a drink.

Any success at F&W booths converting QS to 3 snacks?

I read on the F&W thread that is was not possible. The poster stated that most of the CMs thought they should be able to do it based on it being possible at their normal locations, but that there was no option to use a QS for 3 snacks at the booths. So if anyone has been able to do it, please let us know. The registers just may not be set up for it, so this may be a bust. We were contemplating getting the QSDP if we could use QS for 3 F&W items, but not now.

Just got back and stayed at AoA. Had ZERO problems substituting all over the place. Got 2 QS meals = 6 snacks at Karamel Kuche. Substituted drinks for snacks at Landscape of Flavors many times with no issues, just had to explain what I was doing. Also, got the waffle sandwiches at Sleepy Hollow for QS meals with no problems whatsoever. Just asked about it and he asked what he wanted for drinks and sides (got potato chips and apples along with drinks). It was really easy! I hope this helps people relax a bit. I was nervous about the conversion stuff going into it, but if you understand and explain what you want to do to the cashiers, there really wasn't an issue. We didn't try at BOG (we wanted our cupcakes and drinks! :), so can't help there.

Quoting myself because it is now being reported that it is indeed possible. You don't ask them to convert you QS to 3 snacks, you need to order 3 items at a booth, then tell them you want to pay with a QS. One poster so far has been able to do it at multiple booths. Waiting for more reports.

Hi,

Thanks for this.

Was able to get soup at BOG for dessert substition at lunch, bottled water at many places as dessert, soup at riverside as dessert, corn on the cob as dessert at peco bills, special slushes for dessert at both peco's and typhoon lagoon. I did not need to transfer any QS into snacks but they were readily offering it at the beach club marketplace.

Wish I'd have known this about drinks. We brought back five cranberry drinks we had left over from QS meals since we had mugs.

I think most of the CMs are up to speed now. Today, we ate at Pinocchio's Village Haus and the CM asked us if we wanted a side or dessert with our meal. We got bread knots and two Caesar salads with our flatbreads. I'll report if I try this anywhere else.

Caveat - You'll need to ONLY order the 3 "snacks" and tell the CM that you're using a QS meal. Then do a separate order for anything else, ie alcohol.

This is a great change in my eyes! I'm so glad to have found this thread and thankful to those of you posting your results :)

I just want to clarify, the old thing where you could order 3 adult QS meals for 3 QS credits, even if one person's credit was for a child is gone, right?

I believe there is now OFFICIALLY no distinction between adult and child QUICK SERVICE credits. Table service credits still have differentiation though.
