Disneyland App - accurate wait times?

Hey all!

Just downloaded the Disneyland official app for our upcoming trip, and wondering if the wait times are accurate? If so it looks totally dead today (which would be awesome).

Anybody had experience with this app and want to share the good and the bad? I've used MouseWait in the past, and I feel like it can give you kind of a general feel of how busy things are, but the actual wait time is often outdated by an hour or two. So wondering if the official app is better in real time.

Feel free to chime in on other DLR apps you like! We've done Lot's To Do In Line as well, and enjoyed it.

We used the Disneyland app last week, and it definitely seemed more accurate than the other app I had on my phone (MouseWait, I think?). I compared them occasionally, and Disneyland app was more accurate than the other. What I found weird though was that the app wait time didn't always match the posted wait time at the ride. I thought they both posted the same information. Like when we rode Star Tours, I think the posted wait time was 30 minutes, the Disneyland app wait time was 20 minutes, and we waited 17 minutes.

Its fairly accurate but it does not have fastpass return times. If you want the complete picture for a ride including fastpass return times call Disney's automated "Ask Otto" @ (714)-520-7090

I tried it last weekend and occasionally called Otto to compare. They were very close, but Otto is slightly more accurate. But the app lets you view more at once. At one point the app had no info on Splash - not down, not a wait - just blank. It had been down earlier so I called Otto and he said 15 minutes. We ran over and it was up with a short line. Not sure if it was 15 b/c it broke down again while we were in line.

I think the Disneyland App is generally accurate for the wait times (with some small delay/lag between when the sign boards at the rides change and the info is sent to the app). The only issue I had with the app was that it didn't always seem to update with new information. I ended up having to shut down the app and then re-start it to get it to update the wait times. I'm not sure if there is any other way to re-fresh the information.

I used on 2 trips and deleted it. It's not very user-friendly IMO, and I didn't find it useful enough to take up so much memory space on my phone. It has some very nice features but I think they need to work out a few things before I try it again--mainly FP wait times and menus. You can access menus in a roundabout way but I don't want to take the time to do that. It also bugs me that you can't search a specific area but have to start at the same place on the map (I think it's the hub area of DL).

I agree with @DizMe, it is kind of a pain. The exception for me was the wait times, they were easily accessible and pretty accurate IMO. The only time it failed me and I am positive it wasn't the apps fault was when we checked the times for Grizzly River Rapids and it said 35 minutes. We were fairly close so we jammed over and the sign also said 35 minutes. It was soooooo hot so we grabbed fast passes for it for later and then got in line. I am not kidding when I say we waited in line for 120 minutes and it didn't break down while we were in line. It was the longest I have ever waited for a ride except for when I waited for Indiana Jones in 1995. It was over 100 degrees and humid as heck, I wanted to lay down and roll back to the GCH pool. By the time we were off the ride, we didn't have too much longer before we could use our fastpasses.

I found it to be pretty accurate when we were there Sept 11-14. A few times the wait was a bit less than what it said!!

We used it a lot on our trip this week, and found it to be pretty accurate. I don't know if it's my phone, or the app, but I do wish I was able to refresh it at will, or at least see when the info was last updated. The heat was so awful, the app helped us figure out our next moves while we were in the park.

One thing I forgot to mention that may not be true for others is that I had to log in EVERY time I used it. I found that to be a pain.

I used it a lot this week, and for the most part it was accurate, though like other PP, I had times when it didn't display any time, just a dash. It was definitely better than Lines I thought. Mousewait was of no use during our EMH mornings because it would display that the tide wasn't open.

Occasionally I had to restart my phone because it wouldn't load the info from the DL app. I know it wasn't their system because DH phone & my iPad all displayed the times. I did have one time where it gave a bogus wait time like what nicolispicoli had...RSR was listed as 25 min SB, but we noted the line went all the way to the queue entrance. I did the Call Otto, which also said the same wait time (& the queue itself displayed 25 min). I should've gone with my gut feeling on this, because a few minutes later the time jumped to 50 min. The line was constantly moving, so I don't think there were ride issues while we were in the line. On the other hand, it's quite possible the ride had been down, & when it came up, they were hit with a return of FP holders. Would really like it if it could display current FP return times, rather than having to Call Otto.

It would be nice if it were a little more integrated like the WDW app which displays your ADR's. Agree that it's clunky to look at the menus because it's just a link to launch a browser to get to the website. I did scan in my AP, so was able to use the app to enter the park (but still needed my AP card to pull a FP). At least in the app it displays when my AP expires (since there's no expiration date listed on the card itself)

Did anyone else get a survey about the app? We got stopped on Main St to ask if we were using the app, & I also received an email, asking specifically if I used the app on a particular day and how the experience was (we hadn't given our email when stopped on Main St, but I was signed into my account while I was using the app) I didn't have to log in every time I opened the app, unlike DizMe.

ETA: and lo & behold, there's an update to the app this AM, with the FP return times and other fixes. :)

Great!! I may have to try it again. I'll have to remove a bunch of pictures and videos first since I'm hitting the limit on available space

Not sure when it started but I just got an update that says they added FP return times.

Thanks everyone! Just ran the update and it does indeed have FP wait times. Very cool! I'm excited to use it on our trip. Only 2 days this time, so we're going to try to make the most of it!

We used it a few weeks ago and it worked really well. Really accurate during the week we were there. I did not have to log in each time.
I have an iPhone 6 with plenty of space so that wasn't an issue with me. I also have DLR Lines, and used both. They came in very close to each other.

My DD used it last week and said it was usually accurate within a few minutes. She was my official tester. lol

It was definitely NOT accurate during MHP. It said 25 minute wait for Mr. Toad's when it was a walk-on and 45 minute wait for Peter Pan when it was 20 minutes.
