Hate dealing with Internet providers

I have ATT U-Verse High Speed Internet Max Plus. Advertised download of 18 mps, but when I go to those test sites it really is about 22.5. More than fast enough for what we do. $28.50 a month "promotion" expired. Even after going to the retention people best rate they can get me is $49 a month.

After talking to just about every provider in my area I have reached the following conclusions:

1) Nobody wants to sell me the service I want.
2) Everyone wants me to bundle my Internet, TV, Landline, Alarm and Cell service.
3) Everyone is offering me more than I currently have*, but I don't use all of what I currently have
4) Everyone can save me about $200 off regular price if I bundle.
5) Those bundles are all about $100 more than I pay now combined.


Looks like I am stuck with what I have with the price hike. Sooo frustrating.

They're dinosaurs knowing that any meal could be their last ....things will be changing in the not too distant future!

I only have internet and it's through awful comcast, I'm pretty sure they throttle my speed when I watch Netflix. ATT is an option if I want to increase my bill by at least $20 a month. Even though my rate was supposed to be good for a year it ended at 6 months and yo yoed for another 6 after calling every single month when the bill came in the mail. Took a complaint to the FCC to finally get it all cleared up. I guess what I'm saying is, no matter who you have it's probably going to suck one way or another. Save us Google Fiber, you're our only hope.

AT&T bugs me about once a week to "upgrade" to UVerse from their old-fashioned DSL service. Keep telling me about how I can get faster speed for less - for the first 12 months that is. Of course, they make it as hard as possible to find out just what the rate is after those 12 months are over. When you do, you see it's more than I'm paying now - by a fair amount. Umm...no thanks AT&T. I'm not going to give you more money for something I don't need - no matter how many times you mail me about it! (I've banned them from calling me - after a period where they called me DAILY about UVerse, where I told them "NO" every time, and even after being asked to be put on the internal no-call list. The only thing that stopped their harassing calls was an FCC complaint. Geez!)

Find your competitor, tell ATT to pricematch...
I told ATT why im payin $50 for a 12mbps line when im paying $70 for $200mbps.
ATT dropped my price by $30.

I have 2 options for internet where I live, Cox for $79/month or Hughes Net which isn't fast enough. I'm not happy but the kids needs internet for school so I'm stuck.

I had to upgrade a couple of years ago, they discontinued DSL.

I did talk to retention, as I have the past 2 years. She could get me $5 off, but her hands are tied by the plans AT&T offers. The last 2 years they could get me a promotional rate for a higher level of service for about $2 a month than what I had been paying for less service. She was very nice. I will check back in a week just for fun. The big issue is, it seems like everyone right now has the same price for stand alone internet service.
I can get a $25 internet rate if I bundle my internet, landline, cable and cell phones........but combined prices for landline, cable and cell phones in the bundle is more than what I am paying combined now.
Their argument is "you will be getting so much more". But I don't need faster internet, I don't need 20GB of data on my cell phone, I barely us 1 GB of the 5GB I have now, I don't need or want HBO, Showtime and NFL on cable, and 300 minutes of long distance on my landline is useless because I have unlimited on my cell phones.
