checked in yesterday 8/30

Gidyap (sp?) dinner from Trails End was excellent! I'm from NY and not a fried chicken expert, but it was the best I have ever had. The sides were good too - real mashed potatoes with lumps and skin. Since I never could find out how you order here, they have a special entrance for to go orders. We placed our order and walked down to the horse barn while we waited. They give you a pager - not sure what the reach is but it went off as we approached the building (so it might have been done earlier). It was enough food for 2 whole meals (2 adults and 1 begging dog), so a good value at around $25.

Love love Trails End To Go. Sorry, I call it that, Gidy-Up-an-Go sounds funny to me :).

Best darn fried chicken ever! We typically order two white meat dinners and with 4 pieces of chicken and 4 sides plus cornbread that is enough to feed us all. So pretty much that is getting a belly full Disney meal for $20 for a family of 4. I can't get my family full on $20 at the cheapest of fast food restaurants. Trails End To Go is the best value in all of Disney in my opinion. Well that coupled with staying at FW!!!

As I sit in a KOA in GA, here are my final thoughts on FW:

1. It's beautiful and the majority of the sites were really nice. Whenever we go to a new campground, we walk around with a map picking out which sites we would request next trip. There were so many great site at FW I wouldn't know where to start.

2. The MK boat transportation was easy and relaxing. It took about 10 minutes to walk to the dock from our site. We took the blue flag to the MK yesterday and the green flag back. We actually liked the blue flag better even though it meant a walk from the contemporary.

3. If you aren't in the section that you want, you really do need a golf cart. We wanted to be near the dog park and the Trails End/dock area so the 400 loop was perfect for us. If you plan to use the pool a lot, some of the sites are really a hike - especially in the heat. I know there is bus transportation, but what a waste of time walking to the stop, waiting for a bus, then having to stop for people to get on and off.

4. It would be easy to spend a week there without doing the parks at all. I have never been content to just hang out at a campground, but there is so much to do and see there that it could definitely fill a week up.

5. Finally a big thank you to all the Dis campers who have posted information about FW. Your experiences and information helped make this a great first trip for us :) There was an offer for bounceback free dining next fall, but I can't imagine staying at a resort now that I have done FW (unless the WL became pet friendly - it's still my favorite resort).

Glad you had a great time. The Fort is a wonderful place to be, any time of the year. Have a safe drive home.

So glad you enjoyed FW! We are the same way, we became Wilderness Lodge snobs and hate to stay anywhere else (except the Fort of course.) The boat ride over from FW or WL to MK is one of our favorite things. It's just such a relaxing trip.
