Disney Visa - Redeeming Reward Dollars

I thought that once you had a redemption card that you could redeem your dollars anytime you wanted. I have about $4.50 in reward dollars that I'd like to put on my existing card, and with more rewards dollars coming as of next week (I'm pretty sure). I tried doing this online, and it said I had to have $10 at least to put on my card. However, I will be at WDW tomorrow :teeth:, and I have no idea when we'll be back again (at least not for a few years once they have some new attractions), and the dollars do eventually expire... Do you think if I call and speak to a representative that they could put the dollars on my card? I know it must seem stupid to be trying so hard over that small of an amount, but hey, I could have used a different credit card and gotten rewards I can use anywhere... Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks!

You must have at least $20 rewards to initially order a Redemption Card. Then you must have at least $10 rewards to transfer to a current Redemption Card. I suppose you could call and ask, but don't be surprised if they refuse. The points won't expire for 5 years from the month earned, so you probably have some time to earn a few more. Get to $10 and transfer them to your Redemption Card, then buy something from The DisneyStore if you want to use up the rewards.

Enjoy your vacation!

What I do when I am not going for years is once I get a decent amount of points I transfer them to the redemption card then order a Disney gift card online using the redemption card as payment, Disney cards do not expire and do not reduce in value over time. I collected gift cards during the 9 years between our trips and had enough to cover all of our TS meals when we finally made it in July.

I had wondered if you could do that. Thanks for posting this!

Yes, and there is no charge for shipping with the gift cards so the exchange for points/dollars is exact with nothing lost. I just got my first $25 for our next trip, who knows when, the other day. My kids and I like to pull out the gift cards every now and then and add up how much we have for our next trip, whenever that may be!

Double check this but I thought I read on another link that Redemption cards don't expire anymore.
Which if this is true, I find it odd that the points still have 5 year expiration on them.
I find it odd that since I upgraded to my premier card the online infor has stopped showing me the list of points and when they expire. The only ones I see now are the ones prior to the premier card upgrade. At that I will be going again within the 5 years so it doesn't matter. I'll be using them.

To the previous poster, I don't understand your question exactly. If you mean can you give it to someone like a gift card, I don't think you can. but if you mean is it used the same way as a gift card at the stores or in the parks, yes. The points are each worth $1 and as you spend they just swipe it and the balance is printed on your receipt.

Actually, you can give the redemption card to whomever you wish. It doesn't have a name on it. The redemption card is accepted anywhere that also accepts a Disney GC with a possible few online exceptions.

Yes, that was it. Thank you!

I thought for sure my card had my name on it.
Well can't check cause it expired so I got rid of it.

Question: Can I apply the Reward card to my room so that my MagicBand charges to the room are paid with the reward card, and if so, how do I do this??
Thanks!!

How far in advance should I request my rewards dollars? We are going in Feb, as of right now we have like $60 which isn't much but I don't want to request it too soon and then have a few more dollars there and not have enough there to transfer. How long does it take to process and receive the card?

Yes you can. Just bring it to the front desk and they will apply them. However, if you want to get the 10% discount in World of Disney or the store in Epcot, you must either use your Visa or the redemption card. I hang on to mine for shopping and then apply whatever balance there is to the room charges.

You could order one now and it would just get the smallest amount possible on it. For customer who are ordering the first time, the minimum number of rewards dollars for a new card is 20. People who have gotten cards at least one time before can put only 10 rewards dollars on their new card. Then, you can wait until the very last possible minute to put your remaining rewards dollars on it. I do this all of the time.

It could take up to 14 business days for your card to arrive.

This is what I do, too. I just wait until the last billing cycle ends before my trip because that's when the reward dollars post to your account.

Good idea!! We just decided to do this trip a month or two ago; had we been planning on it longer we would have been using the card more to get more dollars. Last time we went to world we had enough dollars to buy our tickets. I've been using this card for everything right now!! Told my husband to do the same.

Just placed my order for one with $20 rewards points so I have one to place the remaining points on before we leave. Thanks so much for the tip!!

You can also pick up a redemption card at any of the 4 parks guest relations or the 2 at Downtown Disney. Then a simple toll free call is all it takes to transfer your rewards to that card.
