September Heat....Can you take it?

Heading to WDW next weekend for park hopping 9/14 - 9/17. Just got the 1st day forecast and it is consistent with the past few weeks; 90-95F and 10000% humidity. It does look like rain, so maybe the clouds will dampen some of the beating sun.

I live in South Carolina and we deal with the same heat most of the time. I can imagine the shock for anyone north of the Mason-Dixon this time of year. So those of you that go this month, can you beat the heat? Do you think the cloud cover dampens the heat? Fellow Southerners...is it just like "home" for you?

I live in GA and I know exactly what you are talking about! I have been sweating (or as my hubby says, glowing) all morning trying to get packed up to go out of town for Labor Day.

I arrive Saturday :-) I'm a lifelong resident of south Louisiana who grew up slaving away in Memaw's 2 acre vegetable garden every summer (Has anyone else spent the month of July canning tomatoes in an unairconditioned kitchen?) so, yeah, I can take it. It's not ideal but I'll take hotter 'n hades over long lines any day!

We are from Minnesota and visit WDW in September every year. It's not that bad - it's more humid and the sun is hotter than what we are used to, but it does get steamy up here sometimes too. It feels less hot without the sun, but we definitely prefer the sun to the rain!

Coming from Colorado in a couple of weeks, hot here is 90 with 15% humidity. Florida is painful for the first few days, then it just hurts. Looking forward to clouds or the night, rain would be fine also.

I went at the end of September, and I think the humidity felt more oppressive than trips I took in August and June. Rain nearly every day, too. We had a great time anyway, but I think that's the last September trip for us!

I live in Alabama, an hour drive outside of Florida, so the humidity/rain is nothing new to me. Even still, I never leave our room without a mini-fan in my bag! I've lived on the Gulf Coast all my life, but I can't imagine ever being "used" to it.

I've been to WDW several times in September. Love it then. I've been to Dollywood when the humidity seemed worse, but then again, that was Dollywood and not my happy place.

Waaay back in the '70s there was a huge relocation of folks from (I think Lockheed Martin) Littleton, Colorodo to New Orleans. Most of my high school wasn't air conditioned and that first year the Colorado kids were passing out left and right from the heat.

We live in Upstate NY where I'm not sure it even hit 90 degrees this summer. The Florida heat this time of year is certainly oppressive to us, and the sole reason we won't be back this time of year again. We'd rather put up with moderate level crowds in more comfortable temps.

Us Floridians don't love our 85-95 degree days with 80% humidity, but we keep hydrated and find shade! Also, we dress for the heat. I was at Disney last weekend (Temp in the mid-80s, humidity 70%+, and sunny) and I saw people wearing JEANS. That is what we wear in WINTER down here.

I am a big fan of moisture wicking clothes, light shorts/skirts, and NO JEANS, not even jean shorts.

The low crowd level meant we were not even outside that much, we were on A/C'd rides a lot due to short lines :cool1:

Same here. My experience last summer was just awful.

Went to see Miranda Lambert last night here in Syracuse. She said she was sweating her... butt... off- said it felt just like Florida.

It was hot, but just... no. No comparison. I love our summers :)

I went late August (and from coastal NC, so no stranger to heat/humidity) and I found the heat find. I found the torrential downpour EVERY afternoon more annoying (workable and cooled things down, but annoying).

I think there is enough attractions that are indoors to help you cool off if needed.

This will be our third time going in September. I looked at going in November but saw people wearing gloves and sweaters and just couldn't imaging packing for three different seasons in one day for five of us.
Coming from Toronto we have had some really humid days, in the midst of a humid wave right now. We know it is going to be really hot and humid. I just have to make sure that we all stay hydrated and get inside for air conditioning when we need to.

Just another day in the world for this Southerner... Summer days for me are typically 100 plus with 100 percent humidity. Some summer days at Disney are actually cooler than what I'm used to.

We are from KY and have our share of hot and humid-but it does seem different in FL than here. I know it's going to be HOT, I know it will rain. If we can have regular hot and just a little rain I'm gonna be happy. Please no torrential down pours, those are the worst! And here's hoping that the lines stay light!

In the Philly area it was 95 yesterday so we are used to it even though we are up north.
There's a certain truth to that, but I wouldn't want to go to a theme park on a day like that no matter where it's located. In Orlando you're pretty much guaranteed that weather; up north it cools off sometimes during the summer.

We're from Michigan and September at WDW is just like our Summer. Not a fan of the heat but I wear a hat, take breaks and schedule park days every other day and visit the water parks in between.
Also, a cooling neck towel makes a huge difference.
