Expedia cancellation fee for Disney hotels?

Is this something new or I just didn't notice it because it didn't affect me before? I need to cancel my room in November and I'm being charged $25. I guess I didn't notice the policy when I booked the hotel, all I noticed was the part that said "No Expedia booking or credit card fees", I didn't really really read all of the terms and conditions (my bad). I see now it says, "changes or cancellations before November 8 are subject to a $25 hotel fee".

But Disney doesn't charge a hotel fee, do they? So is Expedia lying?

The terms between Expedia and Disney are likely very different from the terms Disney offers it's retail customers. Or the term 'hotel fee' may be Expedia's generic way to phrase the cancelation penalty it applies to all cancelations. Hard to characterize it as 'lying' when it's in your booking language that if you cancel it will cost $25 - which is a pretty small fee, IMO.

It is Expedia's fee, not Disney's, so Expedia is not lying that they charge the $25 cancellation fee. They charge this regardless if the the actual hotel charges a cancellation fee or not. If the hotel also has a cancellation fee, you would have had to pay that in addition to the Expedia $25 fee.

Wow, thanks for the heads up! I didn't know that. I don't see me ever booking with Expedia then.
