Aloha, Happy Birthday and Merry Christmas

Just so you know for when you are in California, around 9:30 pm you could just walk in to see Anna and Elsa in CA Adventure. Park closed at 10, and no one was in there.

That sounds like a lot of work!

Well done for having things sorted out and FP+ booked. I would leave the first day and last day a little bit more flex too. You never know how you'll feel.
ESTA sounds like a nightmare. It was still relatively easy when I last renewed our ESTA applications. Looks like its going to be a whole new world of *joy* next time round. :(

I don't know why they had to make it so complicated. Graham is already starting to wonder if soon it will be just too complicated to travel.

Thanks for the tip. Anna and Elsa are on the agenda for California Adventure, too.

Welcome to the USA. Making new strides in bureaucracy!

Your plans sound amazing!

Wonderful plans!!! I say if it's in the budget and you want to go, why not do another MNSSHP. All the more fun that your friends will be there.

Well done on getting the elusive mine train! I don't know if you know this already but just in case, they have two new fireworks viewing areas at MK that requires a FP+. They are perfectly situated in the front of the castle where you can see the projection show and fireworks without having to stake out a spot. I think there are two so as to allow pathways around them, but I was very impressed. We arrived 5 minutes before the show and had a perfect view.

I hope the ticket to LA isn't too much trouble.

Pardon my ignorance but what is ESTA?

How lovely to do Discovery Cove for Graham's birthday.

The whole ESTA process sounds like a PITA! Nice job on the FP+.

I finally had a chance to look up that 50 bus. It's a pretty direct route, and you shouldn't have to walk very far as it goes right down Katella. The bus will drop you at the VA hospital and I can come pick you up. It's close by, but still a walk to my house.

I can assure you this is not only the USA. I very vividly remember that we were supposed to have somebody coming over from head office, who was pretty senior management and she was refused a visa for the UK with the explanation that they were concerned that she would not return to Dubai.

Your plans sound amazing!

Thanks.

I am leaning in that direction. I will make the final decision on that on Saturday when I am home and have a bit more time.

Thanks. I think they only two nights that I will be at MK for the fireworks is for the Halloween parties and they don't offer Fastpass then.

We arrived 5 minutes before the show and had a perfect view.

That sounds great.

Pardon my ignorance but what is ESTA?

ESTA stands for Electronic System for Travel Authorization and you need to do this at least 48 hours before entering the USA if you are allowed to enter under the visa waiver scheme. Once you did the ESTA, it is then valid for multiple entries for two years or until you get a new passport, whichever comes earlier.

How lovely to do Discovery Cove for Graham's birthday.

We are both really looking forward to it.

The whole ESTA process sounds like a PITA!

It is, but it beats having to fill out the old green forms that we used to have.

Nice job on the FP+.

Thanks.

I will figure out where I need to get this from once I have arrived. Google Maps is suggesting that the closest stop is about a 30 minute walk away from Disneyland, but Graham thinks there is one much closer. I will have plenty of time to work this out.

The bus will drop you at the VA hospital and I can come pick you up. It's close by, but still a walk to my house.

I will have a US phone number on my cellphone so it will be easy to stay in touch.

I have received your emails. I will reply later. I am on a mini vacation at the moment and I am just leaving for the day.

Can you still come to the US if you don't get approved for a ESTA?

Enjoy your mini vacation :)

In most cases yes, but you have to apply for a visa then which is much more expensive and requires a visa interview.

Enjoy your mini vacation :)

I am very much enjoying it. Tomorrow morning it is time to say goodbye to Newcastle, but we are headed for Durham on the way home. Durham Castle and Cathedral are a Unesco World Heritage Site and I can't wait to visit.

Glad your trip home went smoothly. Great report!

What a pain in the rear. I'm glad your ESTAs came through!

That sounds wonderful :)

Hi Corinna, just catching up with your plans. You are going to be in Disneyland this month!

Wanted to let you know that I did the Fitness in the Park DVC Pilates lesson and it was fabulous! Unfortunately due to D23 going ins they did not have the DVC Powerwalk. Hope you get to enjoy them both.

I had no idea that ESTA had become so convoluted... I am glad you got it done, I always try to put it off as long as possible...

And may I ask which provider you use for having an American phone number? I tried h2o for the first time this trip and was not that happy with it...

Welcome back. I have been so busy today that I had not actually realized that it is the first of September and I get finally say that I am going to Disneyland this month.

Wanted to let you know that I did the Fitness in the Park DVC Pilates lesson and it was fabulous!

I am glad you enjoyed this. I need to do something about this. I should be home reasonably early and I have the feeling I need to make a few phone calls to sort some odds and ends out.

I am with you on this and this time it was more of a pain than before.

And may I ask which provider you use for having an American phone number?

I use T Mobile. I did this in 2013 and it worked great. At the time there was a plan that was $2 for every day it was used and gave me unlimited texts and calls and a decent data allowance. They have now discontinued this plan, but it looks like there is a plan for $30 that is valid for a month and offers 5GB data, 100 minutes of calls and unlimited texts. This should work nicely for me.

I was going to post an update today anyway even though I had not realized that I can finally say that I will go to Disneyland this month. What is sweeter still is that as long as everything goes according to plan, I will be in California at this stage in three weeks time. That is no time at all.

I came back from Dubai on Sunday evening. I had an amazing trip. It was very hot with 109F/43C during the day and not much less than that during the night, but to my surprise it did not bother me at all. Graham joined me once the work part was over and we had a fantastic mini vacation. I even finally got to see the Chihuly sculpture at the Atlantis. I will try to share some photos over the weekend.

I did send the application for my last ticket before I flew to Dubai and was welcomed back with a whole set of questions. They have now all been answered and hopefully my ticket will be issued soon. I suppose me flying only one-way from Amsterdam to Los Angeles was always going to cause some raised eyebrows.

My IT issues with Disney have gone into the next round. I did decide that I want to do the extra party at Walt Disney World and decided to book this today. It kept stating that my cards had declined even though they have plenty of credit limit or money on them. Then tonight it stated that the transaction could not be completed due to a technical issue. So I have the feeling I will end up calling tech support tomorrow. I wish that there was an option to pay with Paypal.

There is something I can look forward to though. In about 10 minutes I will have a Facetime session with my favourite jewellery artist to discuss some jewellery that she will make to go with my Halloween costumes. It is all somewhat last minute this time round, but that makes it even more exciting.

Corinna

Glad you had a nice time in Dubai! So exciting your trip is coming up so soon! Hope you get your IT issues worked out. I can't believe Disney can't get their IT to work better than they do.

Can't wait to see your new jewelry!

I'm glad everything is working out. I'm too tired to comment more thoroughly, but I am reading along and keeping up. I fear this is how the next few weeks/months are going to go for me. We have a lot going on even though it doesn't seem that way. I'm looking forward to a small break while you're here even though it will be a exhausting break! :rotfl:

You're going to Disneyland this month!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

What a pain about IT, again! :headache:

Glad you had a fabulous time in Dubai. Looking forward to seeing pictures.

How fun last minute jewelry! I joined her earring club last year and every month I look forward to what will come in the mail. Everything she does is so beautiful.

YAY for Disneyland soon!

Looking forward to hearing more about Dubai.

Ooh! What fun. New jewellery!

Finally caught up! So glad I was able to get back to your TR!!! You always have such a lovely time, and I enjoy your enthusiasm.

Glad you had a nice time in Dubai!

Thanks. It is hard to believe that I have been back for almost a week.

So exciting your trip is coming up so soon!

It is, but it is also getting to the point now where it gets a little scary. I have the trip planning pretty much complete, but there is still so much to do at work.

Hope you get your IT issues worked out. I can't believe Disney can't get their IT to work better than they do.

One is now worked out, but another one threw a spanner in the works yesterday.

Can't wait to see your new jewelry!

Me neither. She has gone scarily quiet since she sent me the sketch.

I'm glad everything is working out.

Thanks.

I am sorry that life is so hectic for you at the moment.

I'm looking forward to a small break while you're here even though it will be a exhausting break! :rotfl:

I can't wait.

You're going to Disneyland this month!!!

Yes :jumping1:

Glad you had a fabulous time in Dubai. Looking forward to seeing pictures.

I will post some photos from Newcastle and Durham today and then from Dubai tomorrow.

How fun last minute jewelry! I joined her earring club last year and every month I look forward to what will come in the mail. Everything she does is so beautiful.

I am glad that you like it. I am still on an old subscription package, which has been slightly modified. It used to be one themed pendant for every month, one surprise piece of jewellery and one pair of earrings. She discontinued the themed pendant part and now I get either two surprise pieces of jewellery and a pair of earrings or a pair of earrings and a larger piece of jewellery. She used to ship them every month, but they started to take forever to get here so now she just holds them until I come to the USA and then sends me a nice big package.

YAY for Disneyland soon!

Indeed :Pinkbounc:Pinkbounc:Pinkbounc

Looking forward to hearing more about Dubai.

Tomorrow.

Ooh! What fun. New jewellery!

I can't wait to see what she comes up with. I have seen the main beads that go in it and I think this will come out great.

Finally caught up! So glad I was able to get back to your TR!!! You always have such a lovely time, and I enjoy your enthusiasm.

Welcome back.
