Aulani in September - tropical storms?

Anyone been to Aulani in late September? Just wondering how often Hawaii is actually impacted by tropical storms/hurricane season. We're planning our honeymoon for next September, and will be doing Waikiki, Aulani, Maui and Kauai but wondering if we should postpone it until the winter if this is a factor. Thanks all!

This map is through 2013 season. It looks really bad until you realize that it covers the period of 1950 through 2013 (all my life plus a couple of years, yikes).
Florida has many more storms affect it than Hawaii gets.

September is towards the end of the storm season and even then I don't know that I would worry too much about it. We have planned our family trip to Hawaii at the end of this September. If you are really worried you could push your trip out to later in October.

It can certainly happen. I lived there when Iniki hit in mid September. It was heading straight for Honolulu (I lived in Waikiki at the time) most of the morning, but ended up going right over Kauai.

We are getting to Hawaii later this month by way of a cruise to Hawaii. I never gave tropical storms a second thought. It was when the cruise line sailed. Two cruise lines that I know of RCCL and Disney Cruise are heading there from Vancouver. I figure they've factored the weather concerns into the equation when making their schedule. I hope all sailings go off without a hitch!

Most of the time the cruise ships avoid the storms as much as possible, it just depends on how wide it they are. When we sailed from Vancouver to Hawaii last September on a Celebrity ship we did have rough seas the first couple of days but nothing excessive. It was sunny and warm by day three. Just join in on the ships activities for the first couple of days and you won't notice it.

Hurricane season runs from roughly June through November. Right now we are having high humidity, heavy rains and flooding from two hurricanes passing thru the area over the last two weeks. This has been a very active storm season in Hawaii.

Even if the storms don't "hit" the island, they definitively affect the weather and surf conditions.

Having said all that, don't let the weather stop you from coming to Oahu and enjoying Aulani. :)

Keep in mind that Aulani is on the leeward side of Oahu and it rarely gets the heavy rains. The September 10 day forecast shows some rain but less than .5 inch on any day. It looks like scattered rain.

OK, we will join in the fun, and hope for smooth seas!

Typically that is very true. Although my daughter and I were enjoying pre-dinner cocktails at Off The Hook one evening and watched a storm move in. It was a torrential downpour that had little rivers running through the floor of the covered seating area.....it was a WDW in August type rainstorm. :)

The OP also mentioned going to Waikiki, Maui and Kauai so weather can be more of an issue in those spots. Having said all that, anyone coming to Hawaii from June through November should be aware of the potential for storms, but I wouldn't change my plans.

It's been a very busy hurricane season for us this year. El Niño to blame. As a resident I'd say our chances are very small! Book your trip and enjoy!
