Booking same-day ADR around existing FPs?

Let's see if I can frame this question so it makes sense.

Say I'm going to DHS on my arrival day. Say flights all go to plan and I'm walking into DHS around 3 pm.

I want to pre-book FPs at 60 days for TSM, Star Tours, and a "throwaway" (probably won't use but I have to have 3).

When I'm actually at the park, I want to try to book a last minute ADR at 50sPT or HBD (put aside for the moment the likelihood of getting one). I want to eat as early as I can (4 pm-ish would be great).

SO - will the system prevent me from booking an ADR too close to my existing FPs? If so, how far apart do they have to be?

FP+ and ADRs are completely separate. It will warn you of the overlap, but it won't prevent it.

The ADR system will not allow you to make another reservation within 60 minutes of each other.....but the FP are not included in that limitation.

Personally, I'd try to make an ADR for 4 or 5pm at your choice....both of those are difficult to get anytime, needing one same day specific time is not impossible, but you'll need a bucket of pixie dust.

Make your ADR for whatever time you can get then get your FPs after dinner, that's what I would do.

Oh, and you might want to consider making the "throwaway" FP early in the day...if you're going to use it, make it so it expires before your other 2....that way when you finish the 2 that you want, you can try for FP #4.....getting a top tier is difficult, but hey, you're already up to the challenge for dinner, why not use any leftover pixie dust for a good 4th FP. Worst case, you end up with a 4th throwaway, lol.

You didn't say when you were going, but if you'll be there at a slower time of year, you might have luck with a same-day ADR at DHS.

I went with a friend last year (the last week of February, when the crowd levels were mostly 4's and 5's). We had flip-flopped which park we were going to do at the last minute, so hadn't made any ADRs. We arrived at DHS on a Sunday around 4:00 pm. We had walk-up availability at Brown Derby and also Sci-Fi (but not at 50's PT). We chose Sci-Fi because we didn't want to spend the money on a BD meal -- but I was so surprised to find walk-up availability at two different restaurants!

Thanks, all. I've looked periodically at the WDW site for same-day ADRs (all restaurants) just to see what shows up as available and those two do turn up, especially at "off" times (3-4 pm). I'm just 1 person, which helps. And if it doesn't work out, no problem.

My date is Saturday 4-9, IF DHS is recommended when the EasyWDW crowd calendar comes out. I'm definitely booking FPs at 60 days because I want TSM. But I want to wait till I'm there for any ADR on arrival night just in case of travel delays.

There's also the HBD lounge which is a walk-up only; no ADRs accepted. Since you're a solo traveler, you might have luck there.

If you are one person, you can eat at the bar at the Tune In Lounge and order off the full 50's Prime Time Menu!!
