OK guys, help me understand... I like purple, when I was a kid it was my favorite color. Now that I have a granddaughter whose favorite color is purple, I'm coming back around. But is there some significance I'm missing--is it a Figment thing? Is it just that there's a lot of purple passion? Color me confused. :confused3

There's lots of purple colors. I had a lilac purple-painted bedroom as a child. You would definitely label lilac a girl's color. Of the MagicBand colors, many might be attributed to one gender or another. As an adult, I don't like gender-based styles and colors. I prefer colors that everyone can feel comfortable with. The deep royal purple of the hoped-for MagicBand has appeal for everyone, and you can't tie a gender label on it. It's a beautiful color, a rich color, even though it's not a primary color.

It is also the color of Rapunzel's dress which makes it pretty popular too. For some reason they have not done purple bands yet.

It's the paint. That's what I have been hearing, they can't get the paint/plastic/gooey non-recyclable stuff to be purple. Cause my Haunted Mansion band would have been AWESOME as purple with glow in the dark eyes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, but in all seriousness, I don't know why I love purple so much, but I always have, ever since I was a tiny child. It just makes me happy. Having a purple magic band would make everything right with the World.

Purple is the color of royalty. In the past, some colors were much more difficult to achieve for dyeing. Green and brown were easy, because there's a lot of those dyes available in nature. Red was harder. Purple was very difficult. Pretty much the only way that people in the past could get a true purple was to get it from the mucus glands of murex (a type of sea snail). Now these snails had to be harvested from the sea, and they were not very big. It took a lot of manpower to get enough of them to make a suitable dye. So basically, if you could afford to wear something dyed purple, you were pretty much rich.

For this and many other reason, purple is best color!

No but you don't understand. Purple is my colour. Literally everything I could buy to go in my flat is purple. My microwave is purple.

I am sure as anything getting a purple magicband if their available by the time we go!

I don't get it either, I mean, purple looks nice, but I am a person whose fav color changes from red to blue all the time.....don't get the hype....

though I feel like they could get ALL the magic band colors to pop and not be so....pukey colored? don't want orange or yellow cuz I don't think they look good....there are pretty yellows and oranges Disney!

My favorite color so far has been the lime green, but I like the yellow more than I thought I would. It is Mickey's shoes yellow (cadmium yellow).

I have a purple one! I simply took my pink one and painted it with purple nail polish. It works just fine and my whole last trip I had people asking me how I managed to get a purple one. Easy!

Disney’s D-Tech on Demand is great for customization of great tech products. Matter of fact, I actually own a couple of the customizable cell phone covers. However, now there will be one more item that you can get customized – MagicBands. Guests are now able to purchase personalized MagicBands at the MagicBand On Demand station found inside the Tomorrowland Power & Light Co. (Which is the former location of the Tomorrowland arcade and the store where Space Mountain exits.)
At this location, Guests will be able to choose to make either a cell phone cover, or now, a specialized MagicBand on one of eight colors – yellow, orange, red, blue, pink, green, gray, and PURPLE! (That’s right…this is not a drill…) There will be 40 different graphics that can be utilized for these custom bands. Once a Guest orders their band, it will be printed on-site and can either be connected to the Guest’s My Disney Experience account or given as a gift.

I have a feeling we may not see a purple band for free. Magicband collector has pointed out that the purple band is lighter, more flexible, and even has a longer battery life. All those pluses make me believe we won't ever get it for free.
