Disney's BOARDWALK INN Information & Questions

We're back from 10 nights at Poly and GF, (more on that switcheroo is in the GF thread;)). We usually walk back from DHS and I take some photos at BWI/BWV, but it was pouring on our DHS day so we had to take the bus back and consequently, no BWI/BWV photos. AllEars is reporting a BWI room rehab from 8/17/15 - 5/5/16, but I can't find a Notice of Commencement related to the work and all rooms were just rehabbed.

I love reading stories like that - so happy for you. We had quite an upgrade-a-pooloza, too. Details are on the GF thread, but, spoiler alert… Day Two, we asked at GF about moving from Poly and not only did they move us at that moment, the manager upgraded us to a TPV room at no additional cost, they had the cutest gifts for us in our room and we were given 3 extra FPs good anywhere/anytime for the rest of our 8 days. It was all truly magical.

Do you think you'll book CL from now on? What did DD think about it? Is she back at school now?

Nice to have you back! I can't justify the added expense for a CL room for me and DD alone. I would, however, consider it for DH who only rarely comes and would prefer to spend time at the resort and not at the parks. That's a totally different vacation than what DD and I do. She loved it (as did I), but is also careful with money and recognizes that it would have to be a truly special visit to add that expense. (Of course, DH is convinced that we've been spoiled and will reserve CL. He is a marketing professor and says that WDW knows what they are doing and I was ripe for the picking! I guess we'll have to wait to see what I actually do in the future.) DD is back at Michigan State University now for her junior year. Started classes yesterday.

Now I am off to read your GF post. I almost switched our BWI reservation to a Poly studio, but the dates didn't work out right. I'm glad I was thwarted in that attempt!

Umm, but only 6 will fit in the Deluxe room. Who all is going?
It will be me :) DMIL, DD10, DD9, DD8, and DS6. The kiddos started school yesterday :( I miss them terribly during the day. After receiving an email from Frontier with $25 fares each way. Yes, you read that right.... I texted DH who mentioned he wouldn't be able to get off work. So I asked if we could bring Grandma (only 12-15 had those fares) and after some hesitation he said okay. DS14 asked if he can stay home because he's worried about missing his AP classes. Sooooooooo a room for 6. Using the AP rates our choices were BWI, WL Deluxe, or AoA. Since I want CL I called my TA to book WL, and she mentioned all the people she's been moving FROM WL and suggested BWI. WL, she still calls for me.....especially the lobby at Christmas. I'm hopeless

Adding days is always great, but are you sure about that one drink?

Welcome back. Glad you made it back safely, but like me, you might wish you were still at WDW.

Yes, I would not put money on just one drink. Unless, it would be one drink at the Bellevue Lounge, then the next drink at the pool bar, the next drink ... :drinking1

I think your DH also has a degree in psychology;). It's very easy to get used to the ease of CL, especially the lounge. This was our first non-CL stay in years and I did miss the lounge. DD didn't really miss it much though. She doesn't fully appreciate all the lounge amenities and relaxing atmosphere.

The issue with the Poly Studio is that it only has a king and pullout so in our case and yours, DD would have to be on the pullout which isn't optimal on vacation. That's why we much preferred the Standard Poly room we were in - at least for the 2/10 nights we were in it;)

I posted a trip summary last night to the GF thread and I'll be posting more photos there today:)

Okay, that adds up to 6 so totally legit. So no magical deal is available for your dates?

That scenario makes more sense;)

Can you make room requests when staying DVC cash? Mine amounts to wanting to be close to the lobby, but I wasn't sure if it was possible to ask at all.

A few days ago on Facebook they had some pictures of the new rugs I think on the 3rd floor. I can not find it now. Would anyone have them or know where I can find them. Thank you. 6 days I'll be there.

We are leaving on Tuesday morning so we are doing our last minute packing and getting ready to go, though BWI wasn't my first choice resort I've really gotten excited to try it and I think we are going to have a blast! Thanks for posting some pictures they are just getting me more and more excited, those are gorgeous, btw!

Just had a question about the sofa bed situation! My parents and I are thinking about going to the one bedroom at BWV in September of next year (it's far away, but we can't help ourselves!). This would be my first stay at Boardwalk! With my parents being in the bedroom, I'd be on the sofa bed, so I was wondering how comfortable it was? I've never slept on a sofa bed at Disney before, so this will be a first!

BabyFu18. Glad you like them. You will love the Boardwalk. Have a great trip!!

Does anyone know if the food cart on the boardwalk accepts Disney gift cards? We'll be there in a couple of weeks for a 12 night stay. During our stay last yr, it would only accept cash or credit/debit cards. I had already put all of our food money on Disney gift cards, so don't want to make this mistake again if it is the same as last yr. Thanks!

I hope all enjoyed a relaxing Labor Day. If you had to work today, then I hope you get to enjoy another day off.

My DH was complaining we have only....wait for it ....318 day left and nobody is posting pics of our beloved boardwalk. So here is some love for all of us diehards!

Thank you for the pictures. While we aren't staying there this trip, we plan on visiting the Boardwalk area one night.

The sofa bed is very comfortable, and I am 6 foot tall and carrying some extra weight. I don't sleep in them all the time, but over the years, have slept in them to prevent children from fighting, one was sick, etc.

Thank you! I figure that it's Disney, so how bad could it possibly be? :thumbsup2

I guess no one saw the rug.

We are back from our Labor Day weekend at the Boardwalk. I asked a few pages back about room selection help.
We had a standard room booked, and we were thrilled upon check in to find out we were upgraded to the Club Level.
We all enjoyed having a quick breakfast in the lounge and grabbing a little drink on our way back to our room at night.

We had a lovely stay. I just enjoyed the scenery so much. It's like out of a story book. The hotel and rooms are gorgeous. Being able to walk to both Epcot and HS was awesome. All the staff we encountered were very friendly. House keeping moved the kids' stuffed animals around, and they loved that. We loved that there were fun things happening on the boardwalk in the evening to watch. And the eating options out there were great too.
I think we will be back again soon. :)

Only "negative" we experienced is the distance to refill the resort mugs. We aren't big soda drinkers, so the mugs are kind of wasted on us. But the resort could benefit from a QS place, kind of like Captain Cooks at the Poly, with a mug station, in the lobby area. :)

Wasn't it great to be upgraded to the Club level? We received that upgrade when we were there last month. What a treat. I had made an order with Garden Grocer which became really unnecessary with what was available at the lounge. (Although I did enjoy my Coke Zero.) Mugs should have been completely unnecessary with the products offered in the lounge, but I agree with you that hiking to the Bakery or pool bar is too much wasted time. We never purchase the mugs when we're at BW.

We did the same thing with gift cards last month. So, after strolling over from Beach Club, we got pizza since all we had was our MB. Still cash and credit at the food cart :)
