What is your not so normal item to pack, which is helpful while at WDW ?

I will start a list of not so normal items to pack for use at WDW.

We bring a McDonalds takeout cardboard 4 cup holder. We bring plastic Disney cups in 4 different patterns, whcih fit into the McDonalds 4 cup holder. What we use it for is a tooth brush holder. Everyone gets a cup assigned to them, to place their toothbrush in. The toothbrushes are organized and do not touch the counter. :goodvibes

We also bring a power bar with at least 8 outlets in it. We use the power bar to plug in our 4 cell phones, camera batteries, ipods, and anything else which needs charging. It helps when there are only 2 or 3 plus available to charge things at night. :goodvibes

We bring ziplock bags in quart and gallon sizes. We use them to store any food we bring back to the room (no bugs please) and our cell phones & camera's when it rains. :goodvibes

I will need a power bar as well. Thank you!

Sharpie Clicksters for character autographs...they are easier for them to grasp. A tennis ball to roll under those tired fee. Along the same line, epsom salts to pull out some of that soreness from tender feet.

I also make up a trail mix with Bob's Red Mill coconut flakes, a few Craisins, almonds, pecans, walnuts, and some pumpkin seeds. This is high calorie, so go easy on how much you eat, and too many nuts or coconuts works like a laxative! I never use peanuts or peanut butter because peanuts are very prone to molds, and can have a lot of micotoxins. A good substitute for peanut butter is Sunbutter, made from sunflower seeds. It's excellent with celery sticks since we don't eat crackers or bread.

If you have access to an egg, any kind of oil and a microwave, you can bring premade low carb baking mix and make Mug Muffins in your condo or even the resort food court. I make ours in a ceramic mug or a bowl. My baking mixture, which I bring premixed in a ziplock bag, is a Tablespoon each of golden flax and coconut flours, a half teaspoon of baking powder, and a teaspoon each (optional) of sugar and some kind of spice. Mix one egg and one teaspoon of oil (butter, coconut oil, etc) into the flour mixture. Stir it all together inside your mug or bowl and microwave for one minute. Instant muffin in 60 seconds!

Last trip we spent a week at Boardwalk Villas and had a full kitchen. I discovered that cream and eggs were relatively cheap at onsite Disney stores, so we had real cream in our coffee and bought eggs for breakfasts and mug muffins to take to the parks for snacks.

I still had leftover eggs and baking mix when we switched resorts and stayed at Port Orleans, so we made mug muffins at the food court. BTW, this same receipe works in our Belgium waffle maker. Just add a half a small packet of unflavored gelatin to the mix, otherwise the waffle is a bit crumbly. With the gelatin it's just like a normal waffle. Light and delicious and gluten free.

Is it acceptable to bring your own food in your own container to the resort food court and use the hot water dispenser and/or microwave? We're staying at ASsports next week, and I was planning to bring my own oatmeal (oats, raisins, nuts, cinnamon, flax seed meal) but I wasn't sure if that's frowned upon.

A massage stick (like a set of bike handle bars with big plastic beads threaded onto it) to roll over your tired calf muscles after walking all day!

I bring a power strip to charge all of my devices. A standard lamp extension cord. Garbage bags for dirty laundry. A small fan if you run hot. (WDW thermostats are merely suggestions) I also bring extra batteries regular or rechargable. I purchase extra batteries for my camera as well.

I don't see why it would be a problem. We brought food of our own and had our refillable mug of coffee or tea with it.

I have a small round tube container that I can slip into my pocket, that I carry a couple of Motrin, a Tylenol, a couple tums, a Zyrtec, and a scrip migraine med. I refill from the room supply as needed. I put a hair tie around it, in case an hair emergency. And 2 motion sickness tabs for DD and myself. And yes I can tell them all apart and I am the one who hands them out.

Solar phone charger - hang it on the outside of the backpack during the day and at night when the phone is dying - plug it in!

One of those thick, black sharpies for the character autographs. Most regular-sized pens are just too small for the fur characters to hold properly.
Sharpie is now making a retractable version...no caps to lose.

The one thing I packed that might be considered odd is a pill box in my park day bag... i used it for pills :rotfl2:

But no what I did was take and put all the over the counter meds we might need.. advil, pepto, benadryil in the kid and adult version in different day slots then write with a fine sharpie what they were and what the dosage was. Now i dont have to lug alot of bottles around and I dont have to worry about over the counter meds in the park. :woohoo:

This is a great idea! Between DH and I, we always need medicine for something! What a great way to safely organize them!

Great tips everyone! Something to consider: try carrying your full park bag around town one day before you leave for your trip to make sure you can handle the weight and that its worth it to take all of that stuff with you! If you're driving to the parks, your vehicle can serve as a locker for some of the bulkier things or the things that are less likely to be used in park. Don't forget there's actual lockers in the parks too! Save your shoulders!

A few items we like to include for our park bag: A large size (actually it's compact) REI backpacking/camping towel - It works great for drying off after a water ride or sitting on at a parade (we even had a kid wrap up in it when she was cold), power sticks for cell phones, metal water bottles - we bring our good water bottles that don't leak and use the poweraid packets, a flat travel pack of wet wipes, Tic-Tac's - this has become a tradition for us, it is surprising how tasty a Tic-Tac can be at just that right time in line, cheap disposable ponchos - we usually just suck it up but sometimes I just don't want to be soaked, Gum, Chapstick with sunscreen, I also carry a small pharmacy with me, you just never know. In the room we bring a small fan, zip ties (repaired a suitcase once), duct tape (saved a pair of flip flops once), clothes pins - for the curtains that don't..quite..close, Starbucks via packs, old disney refillable mugs for around the pool or morning coffee.

Not for park:
Inflatable foot bath for when you get back to your hotel. Foot lotion, too. If you really love the person you're with, give each other a foot massage at night - don't forget the calves.
Small tupper containers - always take them when you go out for meals. They'll keep your leftovers better than the crappy styro things.
Ear plugs

For the Park:
I have no idea where you get them because I bought mine at Goodwill but it's a string pouch, plastic and the top folds and snaps about 3 times and it's super waterproof. That's all I take. My phone fits in there plus my ID and credit card (for the first day when I have to verify it's really me who bought the tickets, after that I don't take it).
No salty snacks and only water to drink. That way kids won't over do drinking and you're not spending your time at the toilet.
Band-Aids
I'm a fan of the 'kid cord' things on stuffed animal backpacks but you get the stink eye for it.
Selfie-stick (just kidding!)

That sounds like a dry bag. I use them when I kayak. You can get them in the camping section of most stores. Stores like REI that specialize in outdoor sports will have a larger selection. But they will not be as cheap as good will! Good find there!

Are you Canadian? Coz I think Save-On has it too in their bulks
