Which park do you do first?

Well its almost time!! 2 and 1/2 more weeks and hubby and I will be at Universal for the first time! Soooooooooo excited! :flower:My question is - which park do you do first? We are staying at RPR which I think means we are closer to IOA? We get in pretty late (7PM) the arrival day so that will just be a dinner/get to know our surroundings day but I'm sure I will up bright and early the next morning wondering, "Now where!?!!"

Any ideas?

We arrive at RPR around 5-6pm, so after a nearly 10 hour flight we don't go near the parks that night........much like you it's dinner and a mooch around.

Our first park day last year was Studios as we couldn't wait to see Diagonal Alley........

Usually we do IOA on our first park day though..........takes about 6-7 minutes to walk to IOA from RP........not far at all and not that much longer to Studios.

You can't go wrong with either........both are huge amounts of fun.

Closer is relative - if you take the boat from RPR, you are dropped slightly closer to the Studios, but IoA is MAYBE a 2 minute walk. If you walk, you come out closer to IoA, but Universal is just a few minutes further. Since you will have early entry, I would head to the Harry Potter area of the park that has early entry first - most likely IoA. If you want to venture out slightly, you could go to CityWalk for dinner to get the lay of the land. Have a great trip!

ETA: Just noticed that the park hours often have Studios opening at the same time that IoA opens for early admission. I think I would still try to go against the crowds and go to the park with early admission the first day. You could switch the next.

Thank you! It certainly sound like it will be much easier than all the planning that goes on with WDW. And although I do love my disney planning it will be so nice to wake up with just the husband (kid free trip!) and decide then. Plus the whole low crowd calendar seems awesome. Do you bring a jacket for nights in September? I tend to get chilly. Maybe I'll pack a cardigan or something? :confused3 It's all new to me! Can't wait. I'm doing a happy dance.

Bring a cardigan for air conditioned restaurants but you won't need it for outside.......we never have had the need for anything in September/October.

Schumigirl - you are like the expert! You should write a book about this stuff! Thank you. Now if I can just work up enough courage to survive HHN!

You would love HHN.........it's just fun.........pure fun with a few jumps thrown in there for good measure......I'll bet when you do it once you'll be hooked!!!

You wont regret it...........honest...........:D:D:D

For me, it depends on what I'm doing. On my last trip, I made a quick run to Universal to see the Christmas stuff as my arrival day was the last day. I hit IOA first for Grichmas before heading over to USF for Blue Brothers and Macy's Holiday Parade. Most of the rest of the trip USF had Early Park Access so I started there then hopped to USF. I was staying at Cabana Bay so didn't have Express Passes

Our tradition is to head straight for Spider-Man at IOA!! After that we just take it as it comes. Our trips are extended stays (10 days this time), not just a couple days so there lots of time to enjoy everything many times over.
