Spectacular Star Wars September Exercise Challenge

For the first day of the month, let's look at the movie that started it all: Star Wars, released May 25, 1977. It was later retitled Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. Expected to be a huge flop (fewer than 40 theaters initially agreed to show it), it overtook Jaws to become the highest-grossing movie in the United States until E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial in 1983.

In the tradition of Walt Disney, George Lucas's vision could not be achieved with then-current methods and required new technology. To produce the groundbreaking special effects, he created Industrial Light & Magic (ILM). Unfortunately, ILM blew about half its budget on four shots that Lucas rejected.

Star Wars was nominated for ten Academy Awards and won six (including for John Williams' score), plus a special achievement award for sound effects.

Please put me down this month for 600 min please! :)

Last month was a really bad month for exercise for me! Between lots of illnesses in the family, job interviews (got the new job, start in less than 3 weeks!), and the boyfriend having car issues and me helping drive him around till it was fixed, I slacked BIG time. I still managed to lose 5 lbs but the exercise was not good.

I have a 5k the end of this month and I am starting a new job and I'm ready to get my butt back in gear. Unfortunately, I am suffering horribly today from an inner AND outer ear infection. The pain is severe! I stared meds this morning and I'm hoping they will kick in asap. I doubt I will be up to running or doing my other exercises today because it hurts that much. But I'm hoping to get on track (and be feeling better) tomorrow!

125 minutes! Happy Day One!

Awesome start to the month!

Congratulations to our first Luke Skywalker Blue participant, with 125 minutes out of the gate,

A bit of Luke Skywalker trivia: after principal filming of Star Wars was completed, Mark Hamill suffered facial injuries in a car accident, so no re-shoots were possible. The injuries were explained in The Empire Strikes Back by Luke's encounter with the wampa.

My hubby is out of town this week and I have three short races in Sept. (I race best after some rest), so my Sept run mileage will be kind of low. But I'm going to make an effort to add in non-running exercise and walking this month to make up for it.

Let's go with 800.
