Just got an email for AP holders and the luau at RPR is half price in September. We're staying at the Polynesian on Friday night, dining at Victoria & Albert's, then checking in to RPR and doing Universal Sat & Sun. Rock the Universe is the same weekend so we'll be back at the hotel before the luau. It seems for the price it can't be that bad, right? I know the Magical Dining month is going on at Tchoup Chop & Emerils but we can save that for Sunday night. Any thoughts?

Well, we think it's worth the full price.......so half price sounds even better a deal!

Food is good and plenty of choice for everyone......cocktails were surprisingly strong and plentiful........entertainment was very good and interaction with everyone was fun.

Can't go wrong........:D

The Trip Advisor reviews are turrible.

But we are going during our Nov trip regardless.

Sounds like fun to me. Maybe you send one person down early to get in line as that seems to be a sticking point.

Enjoy your time!

It looks like the AP holders will have a pre-event with apps, drinks, & entertainment, so hopefully there will be less confusion when it's time to seat people. That seems to be what the bulk of complaints were about

the luau is great.
have been to it once.
entertainment, food and drinks.

i'm sorry i won't be there in september or i would latch on to that special for ap holders!

you can't go wrong for tchoup chop also for the september discounted special.
the menu you can choose from is on the website.

Same as macraven. Paid full price and felt the experience was a great value and everyone in our mixed age group enjoyed it. However, never felt the need to do it a second time.

Of course the primary reason we never did it a second time is because of all the fantastic dining options at the resort - we always seem to have a few more places we want to dine than we have meal times available each trip.

That's the only reason we're not doing it this year......we have 18 nights and have 25 places we want to eat dinner!! Even my math knows we gotta cut something.........

It is good value though.........and I'm sure we'll go back to it at some point.........

i can solve this issue.

eat a full lunch and dinner for at least 7 of the dates you will be in orlando......

so you get stuffed, it will all work out in the end and you'll have a bash of a time!

so you put on a few pounds but will be well worth it.

I can but try...........::yes::

We were going to go at full price to try it out...now at 1/2 price, woohoo! I need all the savings I can get, haha. I tend to ignore most reviews for dinner shows because a lot of times I don't agree. For example, we loved the Hoop de doo revue at Disney but a lot of people say it's corny, etc. The entertainment at that one was fun and the food was good. I'm hoping we'll enjoy this luau and you can't beat half price.

the food is good, the entertainment is good, and free drinks for the ones that are listed on the site.

and....you can't beat that price!!

you'll have a fun time at it.

Hmmm. We purchased this for next weekend at the half price rate, but did not know anything about a pre-event. Do you have details please?

  • Exclusive pre-event from 5:00 - 5:45 pm where you'll enjoy a welcome drink, appetizers, and special hula dancer and ukelele player performance with some FANtastic photo opportunities!

We did this last Saturday and here is a mini review. Took the complimentary (except tip) town car to the RPR and got there about 5:10. There was a small area in the lounge that was setup for AP holders. We did not have to show our AP oddly enough. We gave them our reservations, but they forgot to give us our tickets - which we did not realize until later. So we got drinks and watched the pre-show of a dancer and ukulele player. 3 or 4 kinds of appetizers were served and were very good. Mai Tais were watered down, but you could also get basic beer and wine. It was nice. A line outside started forming about 5:45 for the luau. At 6, the started seating and the line slowly moved. The got to us, and we realized we did not have tickets. No problem, they found our name and got us our table. Except they sat us at a table with 6 empty chairs and there were 7 of us. We had to squeeze in. Luckily, the luau is under cover because it rained hard. We got our food which was excellent and there was plenty of time to get more had we wanted it - despite what we read in other reviews. However, I think this might be because we were early in line and were seated quickly. Drinks were continuously refilled and when I ordered a beer - our waitress brought 2. The show itself was good - if not a bit long and repetitive. The kids were done about 3/4 of the way through. Make sure to go to the hotel lobby afterwards and get your photo with one of the performers and their coconuts. We would do this again, but like Medieval Times, probably not unless we were doing it with out of town friends, or maybe in 5 or more years.

Thanks for posting a review! We've talked about doing the luau before, but we were not sure it would be worth the money.
