We're heading back down to Disney September 30th, and will be down there for like, eleven days? We're also doing the dining plan, which is very odd for us, but for the only time in forever it was actually a good deal (I think it can only be if you're staying at a value, as otherwise the room discounts are going to be better). I hope to be doing a full dining review, though I don't think I'm going to even try to do it live- I might get one or two reports it while we're down there, but we're constantly running around (mostly to Epcot) and I doubt I'd have time for longer stuff. Still, almost definitely a review... that hopefully won't be months late!
And yeah, I'm sad about the Territory Lounge, too! We've really enjoyed times there before... usually just waiting before Artist Point, but we've had a 'full' meal there too. I'm not sure what was up this time, but it was disappointing.
So, er, anyway...
I know there are pictures of the little treats we got at Goofy's Candy Company, but I can't find them, and in the end I decided you all have probably seen them, anyway, so I wasn't going to go crazy looking for them.
Mom got a custom dipped rice crispy treat: dipped in dark chocolate, covered in M&M's, then milk chocolate drizzled. She gets that every time. Since they stopped letting you get EVERY TOPPING EVER and pretzel sticks are so expensive, I don't usually go for this (also, I liked getting crushed Reese's cups as I like peanut butter, and that hasn't been an option for years). Mom loves these things: waaayyy back when we first started going to Disney, chocolate dipped rice crispy treats were a dessert option at like, every other counterservice. We used to take home like twenty a trip. I think she misses those days.
I got two treats... and, er, one never got eaten. (It's still in the house, in a sealed bag... maybe it's edible?) That was a 'toffee covered in chocolate with peanuts on top'. Mom thinks it may still be edible, as we put it in a ziplock bag immediately and it's still been in one: I say she has to take the first bite.
Besides the wasted toffee bar (she's probably going to make me eat that tonight, I know it), I also got one of those 'Mickey Macaroons'. You've seen them: they're shaped like Mickey Mouse and adorable. I love macaroons (both the French kind that I'm talking about and those random coconut things us Americans sometimes call macaroons), but this was... wow. It was light purple, and I was told it was 'lemon lavender' flavored. What it tasted like was SWEET. You've seen my reviews: you know I like sweet desserts (and, er, drinks). But this little macaroon thing was almost inedible. I did end up throwing some of it away, actually: all I could really eat of it was one bite at a time. There was no hint of lemon or lavender to me, just generic sugar rottingness. I was disappointed.
Anyway, after the long trip to get back from DTD to All Stars (I don't even want to talk about it; it was ridiculous), we made one last stop before getting on the Magical Depress...
THE POOL BAR THAT HAS SOME VAGUELY SPORTY NAME
Yeah, I'm not looking it up. ;P
I had the the Island Moonshine, which seems like it may have disappeared from the pool bar menu's since then. It was Troy & Sons Platinum Moonshine, Blue Curacao, then coconut (??- it doesn't say coconut juice, just coconut, though all I see is a piece of pineapple), pineapple juice and coconut water. Mother had what we believe to be the Black Cherry Lemonade, which appears to still be around: grey goose cherry noir vodka, odwalla lemonade, lime juice, geradine and sprite. These were decently made, and surprisingly strong for 'pool bar' drinks (although we appeared to be the only customers the bartender had seen in a while, so she may have gave us stronger pours).
Annoying is the fact of life at Value Resorts: all the Moderates and the Deluxes have a real bar/lounge that will take Tables in Wonderland (although it's usually not open in the afternoon, obviously). That's not true at the Values, which means you'll be paying full price... despite having a window in the food court when the food court does get the Tables in Wonderland discount. Nothing can be done about it, but it's still a pain!
And that's it!
Or, at least it would be it.
If you read back, you'll notice I skipped an important meal. Victoria and Alberts' Queen Victoria Room, to be exact. As that place is completely changing in menu and style (finally, I would say) in October, I'm not sure how useful this review will be, but I'll give it all the same. Due to the picture limit in posts, I'm going to have to divide it up some. I'm unsure if I should do it by course, just cut the meal in half, or... hm. I'm just not sure. I'll think about it, and start posting it hopefully this weekend. Thanks for waiting for it!
Though I suppose I can give you a little spoiler...
If you can read my handwriting, you deserve to know the secrets!
