Disney Gift Card Deals

Just curious for those who have been doing this for awhile if you have ever encountered Target being out of stock on the EBay cards and then restocking again.....has it happened before and what is usually the timeline for when they are restocked? If you haven't seen this happen before, any thoughts on if they will ever have them again?

As my gift cards are arriving in the mail, I realized I bought SO many more than I had planned! I know I will use them for the next trip, but my husband will flip out if he sees how much I spent. I would love to wait to use the Target cards for Disney GCs to see if another special sale happens; but I am skeptical that Target will catch on to our red card/gift card thing and change their system. So, I guess that a guaranteed 22% discount plus mypoints rewards & ebucks is much better than playing roulette and spinning the wheel for unknown and non guaranteed discounts. Is anyone else taking the sure bet or are you "spinning the wheel" and taking a chance by holding on to your gift cards for better savings?

I've ordered whatever I could but that's only because I own DVC and can use the GCs to pay for my annual dues. And I only used Target GCs that I earned from rewards programs, so it's not like the cash is coming out of my savings account. I don't think that I would be pulling money out of the bank to invest in Disney GCs unless I knew that I definitely had a trip planned for the upcoming year. By "definitely", I mean that the room is already booked, which is not unheard of when you own DVC but is not as common for most people to do.

OK unless I'm just being stupid this morning, I don't even *SEE* the ebay cards listed anymore on target.com. This is different from when the Disney cards were out of stock. Then you could find the Disney cards listed but when you clicked on it, the status was "out of stock".
Is anyone able to actually find the ebay cards listed on target.com today?

No. They have been gone for about a week I believe.

I'm thinking of making my first Raise.com purchase for Target GCs. I noticed the percentage off has swung quite a bit just within the day today. What is the best and worst you've seen. I'd hate to buy at 5.6 percent right now and see 6.5 later on.

There have been times over the last 9 months that there have been no cards available and times with a huge supply at 8+ % off. If you have to monitor for a while you will almost certainly see better than 5.6 or 6.5 down the line.

Darn!
I was able to buy an ebay GC at Dollar General yesterday at 5% off but I was going to "cycle" the amount through the Target-ebay chain to compound the savings further! Wondering if I should hold on to the ebay card for a bit to see if another deal comes along on Gift Card Mall or just go ahead and use them now. (?)
I guess I'm in the same boat as everyone else here.... wondering if the Target Redcard 5% will hang in there or be d/c'd.

I laughed when I read your post because my husband would flip too if he only knew how much I have already spent doing Ebay/Target/Disney gift card deals. It's a little addicting. But, I don't know if I'm just taking the sure bet or it's a product of my impatient nature but I will not be holding on to the target gift cards. I will be getting the Disney gift cards from Target right away. Although, I do shop at Target, I really don't want to get stuck with a bunch of their gift cards.

I also think that Target will catch on to this and remove the discount. I hope to be able to get in at least another $500 worth, at least for 15% off before that happens, if it does.

OMG, I am more addicted than I thought! Another $300 worth of Ebay Target cards arrived yesterday that I was not expecting because I lost track of my frenzied buying. I need a 10 step program right away!! Does anyone else need to join with me :D. I'm going to spend the long weekend converting them to Disney Gift Cards and then STOP!! I think I will need to disconnect my computer during the Black Friday sales I will be tempted to start all over again. It was fun!

For those with a Target RedCard starting right now, what's the best savings method to use? Thank you.

Target knows exactly what's going on. You aren't getting away with anything -- this is a business decision on Target's part.

Let me ask this. Of the people who charge hundreds or thousands of dollars on their Red Card, how many pay the entire balance at the end of the month? And if they don't, what's the interest rate?

I got the Redcard but I only ever plan to use it to get the 5% off GC purchases and always pay with GCs.

There are three sure things in life. Death, Taxes, and People on the DIS Budget Board won't admit to paying credit card interest.

Anyone that does will be branded with a Scarlet "I" for all time.

Your right. We aren't "getting away" with anything.

This discount has been available for well over a year,or even longer, I've been doing it for over a year now, and even after it was on national news, when the guy in California bought the discount disney gift cards on target.com and they weren't activated. Does no one remember that? This would have been their clue, if it was a glitch.

I only have a debit red card. I also only use my rewards money/gift cards to buy these gift cards. So no interest or even money out of my pocket for our trip!

But it's not just that. Here's the thing...why does Target (or any other store) sell gift cards in the first place? To make money. Retailers do not pay full price for the gift cards. They probably pay about 92% for the cards, which means that if they sell them for 95% to Red Card people, Target still makes 3%.

This may not apply to the DIS Budget Board people, but the "typical" person would also buy other stuff at Target if they visited the store to buy a discounted Disney GC. And then Target makes money on that stuff too. Or maybe you buy Target GC's to pay, but you leave a few dollars on the Target card because the numbers don't work out exactly. So you either forget about the money left on the card, or you use it to buy something else that costs more than the balance...so more money for Target again.

My point is that Target is not stupid. You are not out-smarting them. It is not a glitch. This is a business decision that Target has made. Enjoy it :-)

Anyone ever book their trip through AAA? My balance still needs paid off and I think I pay Disney direct. I'm hoping to use the DVA. It's been open for approximately one month. If they confirm I pay them directly do I have to wait to upload gift cards to DVA or I just wait to get the $20 gift card bonus? Thanks for the help as the extra 2% will really help my totals

You are right about not getting away with anything, Target knows very well what's going on, we get away with it because they want it to be that way.

I sure hope no one here is paying any interest rates, it's just not worth it, you actually would end up paying way more than any initial savings. I personally use my Disney Chase Visa card (to earn disney dollars) to buy gift cards from raise.com, then use my target card as a default but pay with the raise acquired Target gift cards to get the Disney cards with 5% off. Then I pay it off every month before my due date to avoid any interests. I never spend more than I know I can pay off at the end of the month. And I get a little help with the extra expenses from my other favorite hobby (I earn extra spending cash by doing surveys, product tests with incentives, focus groups and online sites such as shopathome).
