Tokyo DL vs. Disneyland Cali vs. Disneyland Paris

Might be visiting Japan next year for a week and a half to two weeks. Need to decide if its worth it to give up a day to go to Disney.

How does this park compare to the one in Los Angeles and the one in Paris. I've seen both of them and like the one in LA but didn't much care for Disney Paris.

Whether it's worth it to give up some of your trip time for the park, I guess, depends on how much of a Disney fan you are. Though, if you're on a Disney forum and have traveled to two other Disney resorts, you're probably enough of a Disney fan to make it worthwhile.

I can't compare it to the other Disneylands; I haven't been to Paris and I only visited Anaheim as a kid so I don't remember it well, but if you'll only be spending one day you'll probably want to go to DisneySea instead of Disneyland. That park is unlike any other in the world so there is no comparison, and it's well worth it in my opinion.

I feel silly admitting it in the context of Japan's culture, history, etc., but Tokyo Disney was one of the biggest highlights of my three weeks there, and I'm the kind of person who enjoys Disney but who isn't a rabid lover of all things Mouse.

I haven't been to Tokyo Disney but it is on my list. I have heard Disney Sea is the high light. Also, if you go into Tokyo Disneyland, I have heard their dark rides have had a lot more time and $ invested into them than California - go check out You Tube, and search for The Winnie the Pooh dark ride in Tokyo Disney, you will see what I mean, it just looks amazing and far more advanced than California. As far as the parks actual atmosphere, I have heard people describe it as more industrial feeling, but for the high-tech rides I'd definitely visit when I travel to Japan! If like me you miss the Electrical Parade in California, Toyko has it - Electrical Parade Dreamlights, another reason to go!

We will be in Japan next Spring and I've been researching for months already. We have planned a day for DisneySea and are skipping Tokyo Disneyland. After reading dozens of reviews, DisneySea was the clear winner. Have fun!! :o

Personally, Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea are my favourite out of all of the Disney theme parks (although WDW obviously has quantity over quality).

If you're on these forums, then I would recommend you give up at least one day to visit DisneySea, but ideally two days so you could visit both parks.

If I had to rank the three you listed, I would personally put them as Tokyo, Los Angeles and then Paris.

Tokyo Disneyland is a little different than Cali's Disneyland, but not enough to warrant a special trip if you don't have much time/aren't super into the parks. (Though Pooh's Hunny Hunt is one of my favorites). If you want to do a park in Japan, I agree with everyone else on this thread and vote for Disney Sea. It's quite unlike any other Disney park.

Since you'll only have a week and a half or so, if you're not really into the parks I'd skip it. There are a ton of things to do in Japan, and you can easily spend your entire vacationing sight-seeing without stepping foot in a Disney park. I suggest doing some research and making a list of your must-do activities before you decide if you can put Disney into your plans. I say this as a huge Disney fan and a frequent traveler in Japan; no matter what you choose I'm sure you'll have an amazing time.

On our first trip to Japan in 2013, we were only able to squeeze in a half-day trip to Tokyo DL. No regrets - we were visiting during a very slow time so we were able to do many things and just get a feel for the park. It gave us enough of a taste that we made sure we set aside 2 full days (and 1/2 for the hotels and Ikspiari) for our trip this past April. Most of the attractions at DL are replicas of what you find in CA or FL, but most at DisneySea are unique (and awesome). If you're a major Disney fan, I wouldn't miss the chance to check out at least one park while in Japan!

DisneySea is definitely worth spending a day there! The whole park is breathtaking with the details and is totally unique when compared to other Disney parks. The rides are geared more towards adults than the average Disney park. Also, I felt like the park gave me a unique look at Japanese culture because the visitors all pretty much all Japanese.

If you're on the fence about spending time at Disney, skip Disneyland. While cool, it's similar to other Disneylands/Magic Kingdom. But I would not miss DisneySea! I spent a little over a week and a half in Japan and spent two days at Tokyo Disney (1 day in each park). I absolutely loved it!
