LOVE doing matching tees for our trips to WDW with our DGK's. Decided to branch out a bit and do some heat transfer tees (and some Rhinestoning) with my Silhouette since I was spending a bazillion bucks on ink for the iron-ons I had been doing. I am now a convert and sharing for those of you who may have a Silhouette but have yet to get started. I take no credit for any of the designs. I just modified ones I found on the net to suit my tastes. Hope this inspires you to try your own. princess2.jpg backpacks.jpg AA2.jpg love2.jpg ppa.jpg rhinestone.jpeg

Very cute! I did a few using the Silhouette last month. DD is too preteeny to be too matchy, so this was a great way to do coordinating shirts.

So great! I finally broke down and bought the portrait to see how much I use it before I splurge on a bigger machine. I love the shirts!

I have a Silhouette Cameo sitting right beside me that I have been unable to master - to the point that I am regretting the purchase. I bought it specifically for heat transfers and even more specifically, for Disney ones. I always thought I was pretty good with technology, etc. but this is getting to me. I'm at less than 48 hrs before getting on the plane to head to Disneyland for the Dumbo Double Dare and it looks like the ideas in my head aren't going to make it to shirts unless I cut them out with scissors. There are many tutorials out there for using the Silhouette but my learning curve seems to be steeper than most. Glad to see what you did, however. It gives me hope!

What part is giving you trouble? Maybe one of us can help.

It just seems that things that should be easy are not! For example, right now I have an outline of the castle that I want to cut out in vinyl. The image was already in the format for Silhouette Studio however it has a word across the castle that I don't want. I want to delete those cut lines and just cut out the basic image. I can't seem to do it! I liked this castle outline because there were no little breaks at tips of flags - it's a good, solid outline. Or, it would be if I could get the word out of the center.

My pic in signature is fabric cut with silhouette; I also use DisIgns ... Like the pic below on my cameo (shout out to @marneb firvthe best DisIgns on the planet)

Go to the meld box
At the bottom there should be an option to ungroup. Highlight design, ungroup, click on each item you want to remove and delete. Highlight entire item again & group again.

Or use trace - highlight entire castle, trace outer edge...

Love your shirts - have really wanted to try the sparkle rhinestones but with a house full of boys have felt it was probably wasteful... But your shirts are so cute I may have to treat myself to the starter kit!

Thanks for the tips! I was able to get my shirts done in time for the Disneyland Half Marathon. I do have one more question and that's about the actual heat transfer vinyl itself. Any suggestions as to the best type to buy? I've read that some is thicker, some is more flexible, etc. I just want to get something that is a good quality and that I can work with. For the shirts for the race, I had to go with what was in the local fabric store but I believe vinyl can be purchased at far less expense. (A lady who was in the store picking up some for a rush project for her daughter told me that it kills her to pay the store price for something she can get for a fraction of the cost elsewhere. I was too focused on my project to think to ask her where!)

Thanks! Now that I've managed to do some simple things with the cutter, I have a feeling I'm going to get hooked if I can manage my frustration at not being able to do it all just right and immediately.
