1900 Park Fare or Chef Mickey's for arrival night dinner?

We'll have a 4.5 year old and a 3 month old, staying at BLT. I've had breakfast at Chef Mickey's and wasn't in love with it, and have never been to 1900 Park Fare. Which would you recommend? And any other suggestions? (we already have a CRT breakfast a few days later) Thanks.

1900 PF for dinner is a lot of fun -- Cinderella, Prince Charming, Fairy Godmother and the Tremaine gang (stepmother/sisters) are all typically there. The steps are hilarious and really make it. You will see Cinderella later at CRT, but this is a totally different experience.

If you are still wanting a character meal with the Mickey type characters, then Tusker House (for any meal) and Cape May (for breakfast) are a little higher on our list than Chef Mickey's.

If you weren't crazy about CMs breakfast, you'll probably hate their dinner. 1900 PF is a quick (ish) monorail ride away. Not sure with little ones that you'd want to travel too far for dinner on your travel day.

Any thoughts on Kona Café for dinner? We get in in the morning on Saturday, and will have had a nap by dinner, so I'm not too worried about too much travel. That said, my parents do not have APs so we are unlikely to eat in a park the first night.

Kona is just ok. Nothing special, IMHO. If you would like something a little special for your first night that isn't too far, I would try O'Hana or 1900 Park Fare. You can also take a boat over to WL for Whispering Canyon or a boat to Ft. W for Mickey's Backyard BBQ or Trail's End. Trail's End isn't spectacular in terms of food, but the atmosphere is a lot of fun, plus the kids can see the WDW horses and go on a pony ride and even play on the playground. If you don't want to wander at all The Wave at CR is very good, much better than Kona IMHO.

When it comes to the quality of food I am not a big fan of either place, but then I'm not a big fan of buffets. I was expecting 1900 PF to be better than it was. But I found it to be your typical buffet; that is, average at best food produced in mass quantities with quantity being priority over quality, placed at food stations for droves and droves of people to pile it high and deep. However, I will say that 1900 PF was the most fun I have ever had at a character meal in WDW. In short, average food (strawberry soup was interesting), good service and great character interaction.

Chef Mickey, now that is another story. This restaurant was the worst dining experience I have ever had at WDW and close to one of the worst I have ever experienced. The food was way below average and way below even a buffet. This place makes Golden Corral look like a 5 star restaurant. I can't even say quantity was a priority here since they couldn't even keep up with the food stations with them always and I do mean always out of food. The food stations were always filthy. It took forever to get my server to refill my beverage. When I did catch her she said she would be right back with a refill. I guess being right back meant 15 minutes later. The only thing decent here was the characters. I have heard some say they were rushed or didn't make their way around to their table, we did not experience that at all and they did not seem to be in a rush to the next table. No complaints with the characters, just the awful food, filthy and empty stations and terrible service. Never again for me at Chef Mickey.

We are doing Crystal Palace for our first night . The kids love the character interaction and the food is pretty good for buffet. Chef Mickeys was okay but when planning this trip my family didn't care to return there.

We are doing Chef Mickey's on arrival night with 5 and 2 year old. I just want to start with the Fab 5 since our youngest was only an infant when we had Chef Mickey's for breakfast. She watches Mickey Mouse clubhouse so I think she'll be happy. I've read a bunch of horror stories but going for it anyway.

I thought about Park Faire but I think our little one might be scared of the Wicked Stepmother and they barely know Mary Poppins... We are doing Ohana our last night.
