Sequoia Lodge Questions

Hi, we're hoping to go to DLP in January for three nights, but I'm unsure about what extra you get in the Golden Forest rooms compared to standard rooms or is it even worth it?
Although it will be winter can you easily walk to the parks if you want?
Am a tad concerned about the weather so was thinking of not booking hotel until last minute, say a week before,do you think availability would be an issue? TIA x

The walk is easy takes no more then 10 minutes through the village. Probably have no problem with availability in January but you will most likely pay rack rate as no guarantee of deals. Can't help with the Golden Forest bit as I have yet to stay under that

@ChipnDaleRule

I stayed at Sequoia Lodge during Christmas 2013. The weather was cold and wet but the parks were at full capacity! Bring waterproof shoes, waterproof bag and raingear. Most people wore ponchos, which are easy to take on and off. For Dreams I brought a small airline blanket to wrap around our legs as we waited, others brought hand warmers or had hot drinks.

Also check out and find the covered walkway from one of the shopping arcades right down to Pirates and Peter Pan. Very handy for sheltering from the weather and avoiding crowds.

It took me about 15 minutes to walk to the main park gate, through the village. You will need to go through the bag check at the entrance to the village and the walk will take longer if you have small children or if it is crowded.

I haven't stayed in Golden Forest yet, but from trip reports on another forum it seems worth it. You get a hotel fast pass (not sure about details) separate check in , separate breakfast room, separate lounge for afternoon snacks. The rooms are in the main building and I think have a lake view.

Not stayed at SL GF but we're maybe considering it for next Christmas.

It's very little extra and you get a lot for it. (Hotel FP, separate check in and breakfast, hot drinks and snacks in the lounge during the day)

Waiting to read reports of NPB CC before we decide if we want to stay somewhere other than DLH.

Nespresso machine with capsules replenished daily plus an actual small fridge (as opposed to mini-bar) were a big plus for us when we last stayed there. :)

Have you checked the French site for HNY Empire State Club for your dates? They're offering them online at really good prices at the moment, you get all the perks of SLGFC but a vip fastpass per person too & it's right next to the village.

Ive checked out the Empire State Club room and its coming out at £850 which is great,so what extra do i get? I'm trying to translate but my French if rubbish:rolleyes1 Am i getting what i would through Uk Disney site? and also will it accept a british address when booking online? Bit nervous about doing it this way.Any help would be great

I think you can call the English call centre and ask for the French deal and they pass you across to some one who speaks English - I'm going on what I've read as I've never booked/stayed at DLP myself. *Advantages of living next door *

well big/huge thank you tillyjenny and carrie_cat Ive just been talking to a very helpful French man and I've booked HNY Empire State room for the same price as the Sequoia Lodge Golden Forest. So so happy :flower1:

Hiya, you would be getting all the extras that are inc on the Uk site & a few more not mentioned ie kettle & nespresso machine/proper china cups, separate quiet breakfast room. Booking on another countries site is really easy to do, you just type in your own address, add UK after your own town but leave the country as whichever site you are using (ie France/Netherlands etc). Make sure you put the correct email as they email you the confirmation letter & I found google translate to be my best friend in checking everything by copying/pasting across to it.
If you want to phone instead then you may be able to pay just a 15% deposit & pay the full amount nearer the time, but I've found that depends on the cm you speak to, ask for the french crossover deal - I dial this number first 0844 200 9090 to get a cheap rate, follow the instructions, then enter this number 0033 160 30 60 53 when prompted for central reservations.

Hi stranger!! It's a bit weird seeing you here and not on the Florida boards ;) The Empire State rooms are supposed to be stunning - we were going to do the same, but went for Compass Club at Newport Bay instead.

Hiya Holstar :wave2: Yes,long time no hear, but with our USA trip not until 2017 i’ve been resting from all the planning(well, sort of), until once again DIS people have come up trumps with the NYH State Room idea. It was so easy talking to the French call centre, and for the same price as Sequoia Lodge id have been a fool to pass it up. Shame though that Thunder Mountain will be closed
Now i just have to keep everything crossed for decent weather.
BTW Illuminations Cruise was unforgettable:goodvibes

I'm still super jealous! I know how you feel about future trips... we're planning on getting married at WDW in either March 2018 or November 2018, so we've got almost three years to go. Heart. Broken. We're playing around with going in late 2017 for 10 days just the two of us, but it's not for sure.

Super jealous about the Illuminations Cruise! We're demo gonna do it next time, but I'm still gutted we didn't last August.

I knowwww about BTM... it's tradition in our family that BTM is our first ride at Disney (we even did it first at WDW!). And Peter Pan being out too :( We'll just have to go back again ;)
