ADRs? Yes We Made Stinking ADRs - A June '15 Dining Report - Updated 10/10: Sassagoula & Wrap-up

Always enjoy a good review of VN! It's been a couple years since we've been and I'm totally looking forward to our planned dinner there in Nov. :goodvibes

Amazing review of Via Napoli! It is now on my (very full) list for our March trip. I only hope our Canadian $ improves a bit, we are sitting at 76 cents American right now so it makes those Disney prices even pricier!

Your pizza at VN looks amazing! Of course I'm a sucker for anything with artichokes on it. Give me a shingle with artichokes and I'm all over it! :teeth:

Happy Belated Birthday to you!

From one Italian girl to another, completely with you that Via Napoli nails it. Artichokes and broccoli rabe are two of my very favorite foods. Looks like you and Jason could combine toppings for a pizza right up my alley.

Happy Belated Birthday!! Via Napoli looks amazing as always, can't wait to try it! That beer looks right up my ally, although I don't know if I could handle that much in one sitting haha.
Thanks so much for the birthday wishes.

Via is definitely always amazing. Just be sure to bring a friend to share the beer with ; )
:bday:. I love that you're celebrating the whole month.

The one regret from my trip was not being able to get into Via Napoli and you've just confirmed that it is a valid regret! The pizzas look amazing although I don't know if I could ever be too full for dessert (that's a completely separate stomach :p)
Yep, it's a month of me. In fact today is the last day of the month of me, I'll have to ask Jason why I just cooked myself birthday dinner ; )

Oh man, I can't believe you came all this way and missed Via Napoli. But it looks like you got plenty of other good stuff in that extra stomach of yours on your trip ; )

I was craving Via Napoli earlier today and this post totally did not help :) Those pizzas look delicious, as always. The beignets look fantastic as well, one day I will have to make a trip to POFQ to try them.
I'm with ya. Writing about it put me into serious pizza cravings that only Via Napoli can crave. Good thing its t minus 5 days until our trip ; )

I LOVE that you still call it MGM (we do too!!!!!!).
Yeah I somehow missed the memo on the name change and figured I'd just keep rolling with MGM. Casey thinks that is what its called too : )

I've never tried this!! Next time for sure.. although your white wine flight also looks great.
His beer was something off of the specials menu they keep on the table. Not sure how often they change them out.

:thumbsup2 Can never go wrong with the carciofi!! Now I am craving it.

What better way to polish off a great night than with some wine and beignets.. good idea!
You and me both on the caricofi. I'm sure we'll eat there sometime on our next trip and I'm already wondering if artichokes or prosciutto will win out.

Via Napoli always is amazing, now I want pizza for dinner that will in no doubt pale in comparison! Love the trying to get a good photo in front of "the biggest planet" which is what my 5 year old Parker calls Spaceship Earth, it is never an easy task! :rotfl2:
You and me both want the pizza for dinner and sadly ain't nothing gonna satisfy that craving in the way that only via can.

Love the biggest planet ; ) Casey just usually calls it the big ball. How could I ever correct that ; )

Enjoy!!!!!! Via Napoli is always a great experience for us.

Well good news is if the dollar doesn't improve, at least Via Napoli is on the lower end of the disney food cost scale ; ) Gotta look at the half full glass of wine

Cheers to my artichoke sister ; ) I'm with ya, anything and everything is better with an artichoke on it. We've started grilled them this summer and they are oh so good!

Grazie for the birthday wishes. Mmmmm, artichokes and broccoli rage you may be onto something there.....

Following along!! :)
Welcome!

Happy belated birthday! Yay for your next Disney trip being just around the corner!
Thanks so much. 5 days and counting till our first ever Poly stay. Can't wait!

Following along! Fellow-DC area DISboarder over here.
Welcome aboard the food train. Where are you at in DC? We're in Fairfax County

OMG! VN is not on the list for this trip so now I have to have pizza tonight, darn you!

Truly, though, that meal sounds amazing. It's definitely on the list for next time.

I was hoping to get this bad boy wrapped up before our annual September trip in TWO DAYS (not that I'm excited or anything), but alas thanks to this little thing called life I don't think I'll have time to even get one more post done. Between work, family (we have Casey's very important pre-school orientation today), and the packing I've yet to start (and should be doing now) I'll just leave everyone with a teaser of whats to come.

We leave bright and early Saturday morning for our first stay at Poly. Thanks to the very "magical" deal we're paying $20 more a night than we paid for POFQ for this trip. I"m a little concerned about all the ongoing construction, but we survived it at WL last year so I think we know what to expect.

Now as for food, I actually have a handful of reservations to wet our proverbial appetites during our 10 days in the world. For lunches I knew we'd want TS a couple of days so we have our perennial MK favorite The Plaza (sadly Liberty Tree will be closed) planned, as well as 50's for our MGM day, and Yak n Yeti for one of our AK days. Not too much on the dinner front yet aside from a first day California Grill I scored yesterday (can't wait to just hop on the monorail and be there) and Hollywood Brown Derby (a first for us) for our evening of frozen fireworks.

It will be our anniversary while we're there and I'd originally made reservations at Victoria and Alberts for Jason and I. I figured Jason would be all over this, but after thinking it over he requested on our night without Casey we do what we always did before she came along and eat at some bars. Before Casey we hardly ever sat at a table and instead chose to share some apps. copious amounts of drink, and dine in the casualness of a bar. We'll likely do some version of a monorail appetizer crawl with stops in the Poly, GF, Contemporary, and WL. We'll see if our now 40 something selves (or almost 40 for Jason) can keep up with our 30 year old lifestyle ; )

So that's a quick preview of what's to come. If I have some time I will try and post a couple of previews to wet everyone's appetites. Otherwise, wish my waistline and liver some much needed luck ; )

We will be there in 3 days too! I can't wait! I hope you enjoy all your ADRs and all of your spur of the moment ones too!

Have an awesome trip!!!! Since you are at the Poly you should hit up Trader Sams for your Anniversary night! Also love Mizner's at GF Territory Lounge at Wilderness Lodge.

Woo hoo!! So close! Hope you guys have a blast. We nearly went this weekend as well. That "magical" deal sure is magical. I hope you love the Poly.

Ooh, all of those sound delicious. We'll be trying HBD this time around too. Can't wait to see all of the food pics. pixiedust:

The price is right for your magical deal at the Poly. I hope you have a great time.

We got just back from a POR/YC split and really liked our first stay at a moderate resort. The food at Boatwrights was very good, especially the French onion soup. And what do they do to that cornbread to make it taste so good? But the scrambled eggs in the food court were disgusting. It was the only bad thing about our brief stay there.

We will be at POP tomorrow night, then the Poly on Saturday!:cloud9: Your anniversary plans sound great! Have a wonderful trip!!

Have a wonderful trip! Love the idea of hitting all the bars on the monorail. Have a tropical cocktail, or 10, for me!

Looking forward to seeing what you end up eating. I'm so excited to hear about HBD, too, because it's been getting great reviews lately that I've seen and my interest is rising in trying it now!

Safe, magical trip!

BTW, totally wanted to mention that next time I go down to DC, I'm seeking your dining input! We tried Founding Farmers a few months ago and were so happy with the food. What a fun city to live near with so many foodie spots!
