What is the market for renting or transferring 30 points?

We don't have a lot of time to travel and have booked a May 2016 trip in a AKV value , using up 130 points. That leaves some points, that we had banked into 2015, that we will have to use by Sep 30, 2016.

We are unlikely to get time off to use those points and can not add days to our May 2016 trip. But I also don't want to see those pets go to waste. Our options are:

1. either rent/transfer those points,
2. or switch our May 2016 ressie at the 7-month mark to something requiring around 160 puts, just to use up those points (and potentially needing to borrow from 2016). Then I'm dealing with having to cancel it and book something else I like right after.

To help make this decision, how likely is it to rent just a few points? I don't want the headache of doing my own rental and will likely use a broker. I also prefer to not have to give up points from my 2016 use year. I am prepared to give them up now to give others a chance to use 7-11 months in advance.

Banked points cannot be transferred. I think that trying to rent only a few points will limit your audience. If you are willing to use some of your 2015 points in addition to the banked points, that would help. Or your idea of trying to change your reservation to one that uses more points would be another good option. Good luck!

I've rented a couple of nights before which was around 32 points so it is possible. Sometimes people just want one or two more nights than they have the points for. And of course the price can make it more or less appealing. I'll add though, that switching at 7 months, especialky in May, is not that stressful IMO.

I believe most brokers have a minimum for point rentals. I think your number of points may be below the minimum, but I'm not 100% sure.

I have rented out a few times to people who only want one or two nights - you shouldn't have a problem renting them out.

I recently rented out 30 points and it was no problem getting them rented. Had plenty of interest.
