HALLOWEEN MENU

We opted to pass on that weekend due to how busy it gets. I would've loved this event!

I'll be at Disney.

Not sure I'm interested in this event.

I think I would prefer to do the scary party at MK.

Just a heads up (if you meant you were considering going to MNSSHP on Halloween) if you didn't already buy tickets for 10/31 it is sold out

I think it's really nice that they're doing events like this- it will be a nice add-on to people who already have party ticket for that night.

I was actually thinking it might be.

I'll be at BCV and then Boardwalk.

Boardwalk usually has something for the kids going on the Village Green.

We have a 5:00 reservation at 'Ohana 10/31. If we go to this event and leave to catch the monorail by 4:30 do you think we would have enough time to make it by 5:00? I think my daughter would like to go to this on Halloween

We'll be there at that time but it doesn't sound exactly up to the same par as the free water park member events they had this summer. :sad2:

Good grief, does ANYONE proofread any more?

I read news stories on-line and see so many errors too.

CarolMN...I realize this was cut and pasted from the DVC site and not your error...sorry, didn't mean to imply it was.

Should have caught, that, LOL. I am also not thrilled with the number of errors in online publications, but cut discussion board posters a lot more slack, so to speak. Many of them are using tablets or phones to post and that can be a challenge!

$15/person is negligible, but I remember when they used to do Member Meet Ups like this for free (anyone remember the DTD Scavenger Hunts???)

See my post above where they had 4 events this summer at Typhoon Lagoon 9:30pm to 12:30am and you could enter at 8pm or so. Bus service provided, music, beach movie, treats and drinks. Member could bring 4 or 6 guests I believe. And it was no extra charge! We lost the Welcome home Wednesdays with new experiences to follow. I guess we aren't getting the free ones evenly spread out over the year so that everyone might have a chance to participate.

Hard to believe that a number of people probably had to approve that before it was posted to the member website.

I never post from my phone and rarely from my kindle because of auto correct that thinks it knows what I want to say.

I'm sorry I'll be missing this event by a couple of days....also missed the beach bash by a week. Oh well...I will still be in my favorite place in the world regardless.

I was thinking this too. I knew about this because a cm mentioned it a few weeks ago. The first thing I thought was $90 for our family of 6 to attend this 2 hour function that is in a convention center with some themed deserts. And this summer I was fortunate enough to attend the beach bash with my grand daughters at a water park for 5 hours for free. Btw, the beach bash started at 7:00 if you had your own transportation and everyone listed on the room reservation could attend with the member. They actually pulled up your room reservation to get the names for your reservation. I think we will pass on the Halloween function.

I read this and thought that it sounded like a Merry Mixer, but shorter. I wonder if they will start charging for the Merry Mixers.

According to the DVCMC executive offices, any event not hosted by DVD as a sales event is paid for with member dues. That includes mingles, bashes, welcome home Wednesdays, parities, and events. Think about it, why would Disney pay for anything DVC related, what's the benefit to them?

The benefit is the same one they've had for years. Current members go. They think, "How great is this", and they add on. Or they bring along friends, who see how great it is and add a piece of the action for themselves.

As I said, it's negligible, and they can definitely decide on how/what they want to market. I just find it ironic when you take something that used to be free, repackage it, shorten it, and then get people to pay for it. Kudos for them. I'd rather spend my time in the parks than eating stale desserts in a convention room...

Odds are members have been paying all along with their dues, just not paying extra. The Thanksgiving dinner last year was a member magic event and I was told that those are a for profit events where attendees are charged to attend.

Sounds like it might be cute and fun for those with little ones but I have tix for the Swolphin event that night.

Just spent 45 minute talking to member services and was finally able to book this. I called right at 9am. CM spent a few minutes looking and said it was "sold out". I questioned that since it was 9:10am and she went back and checked with a manager. They were having problems with the system. They eventually figured it out and I was able to book for our family of 4. Considering the cost of some of the recent DVC events (like the Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners) and the cost of the MVMHP I don't think $15 per person is bad. We're local and weren't able to go to the Beach Bash (didn't want to spend points to get a room so we could go). Our neighborhood had a totally meh Halloween last year so looking forward to doing something fun that afternoon now! Left a good review for the CM but then left a message stating they really need to get their CMs and more importantly, their system up to speed when they have events like this. Overall glad my persistence (and the CMs) paid off!
