8:05 or 8:10 reservation at CP?

This might seem silly because it's only 5 minutes, but is an 8:05 or 8:10 reservation better at the Crystal Palace? Park opens at 9. Does it even make a difference at all? I just really want to make sure we have enough time to get some good pictures in front of the castle, but I'd like to be done with breakfast before rope drop if that's possible. Has anyone done this and does it give you enough time to take a decent amount of pictures? We have the memory maker so I want to take advantage of the park being empty. It's our first trip and we are surprising my son for his 8th birthday. Any advice is much appreciated :tigger:

I haven't had any experiences at CP, but last time I was at CRT, we walked down Main Street, too pictures as we liked, and got in line and they took people into the restaurant in the order that they arrived....I mean, they are really just trying to fill tables in the way that they like to have them, so you could be behind people who have ADRs after you or in front of the ones before you....

I always make our CP ADRs for 8:05am (this is a must do for at least one of our MK days), even though it is the first reservation that you can make for CP, we are still able to get photopass photos while heading to the restaurant. My DH is a huge fan of Memory Maker so he likes to get as many photos as possible as we are walking up Main Street (we usually stop at 2-3 photopass photographers), then after our meal, we still have time to go by the Partner's Statue (if it isn't covered up due to construction) and get a photo in front of that as well. For what it is worth, I think that if you can't get an 8:05 ADR and can instead get an 8:10am ADR as your earliest ADR, you can still get everything done before the park fully opens.

We've had the 8:05 multiple times at CP as well as 8:10, 8:15, 8:25, and 8:40.

The later times...the 8:25 and 8:40 were actually better for pictures. With ADRs being offered at CP, CRT & BOG + early BBB appointments and tours, there are still a number of people in the park at that time, but more people seem to head right to their intended destination more quickly with the early ones, so things seem to clear out a bit more for people-free pics of the castle between 8:05-8:15...give or take. But really no mega difference with these times.

As for making Rope Drop...if that's your goal, I'd skip the ADR altogether. They're letting people into the park around 8:45a for a 9am opening. While they are very good at getting you in and out of character meals and the 8:05 will give you the earliest out time into the park, I don't think it's realistic to dine and make rope drop. If you have multiple MK days planned, you could make another one a rope drop day.

Thank you everyone for the replies. Rope drop really isn't that big of a deal to me as getting the good pictures.... What time do they actually let you into the park for the early ADR 's?

Both are available at this point.... Do you suggest I take the 8:05?

We've usually been let in between 7:40-7:45a for prepark opening ADRs.

If it was me, I would take the 8:05am, only because I like the earliest ADR that I can get at pre-park opening, plus I am one of those over obsessive planners (however I don't go as far as scheduling our bathroom breaks), so earlier is always better for me. However, if you feel that you want to wait 5 more minutes, then the 8:10 ADR will be just as fine, I really don't think you will have anything to worry about with the latter time.

No difference. We had a reservation for 8.20am and were seated by 8.10, BEFORE many people who had earlier reservations. (Being a part of two can be good news early morning!)

8:05 is perfect. 8:10? Pfft. Why even go?
I'm kidding. I wouldn't think it would make any difference. If you're more worried about getting good pics before breakfast, then pick 8:10. But really...it's five minutes. I'd probably be at the restaurant by 8:00 with either of those reservations hoping to get seated ASAP.

I know it sounds silly, but this is our first time gong to Disney and just trying to figure out how it all works. Thanks for your feedback ☺
The great thing about the Dis is everyone is here to help and hopefully no question, as silly as it may sound, is treated with anything less than the respect it deserves.

Very sweet of you... Thank you so much:flower1: I really just wanted to make sure I will be able to get a few pics in front of the castle with the 8:05

You should also know that they will generally allow you into the park around 7:45, if that helps to alleviate any of your concerns with the 8:05 reservation. :)

Thank you! I've just never been so I have no clue how long it takes to walk up main street and how far the castle is from the restaurant to get pictures. I have maps but that doesn't really tell ya. I think 20 minutes should give us enough time to get in a few good pics. Really the only one I care about is in front of the castle. Thanks so much!! pooh:

I hope you don't mind me piggy-backing off of your question, Jordyn... We have an 8:20am res at CRT during our trip that's coming up in 3 weeks. With all of the early-birds who get there well in advance of rope drop, is there a clearly designated spot to let through those of us with ADRs? I assume it will be obvious when we get there? (This is my first trip since having kids, so these are the things I never paid attention to previously!)

Not at all! :) I have done the research on this and they say there are turnstiles (to the left I think, don't quote me on that) where they will let early ADR's in.... Can't wait!!!pixiedust:
