Hey, ya'll! :grouphug:

So, I'm sitting here daydreaming about... what else, of course? FOOD, GLORIOUS FOOD. :cloud9: This time, I mostly blame @chunkymonkey and her PTR of deliciousness. :cutie:

Therefore, as promised in the intro to this thread... Since I can't EAT all these delicious things on my mind right now, I'm gonna talk about them! I'll break this up into two posts, so here are the first half of the restaurants on the current version of my hoped-for noms for this trip!

ULTIMATE ADR WISHLIST - PART 1

BOATWRIGHT'S DINING HALL
Dinner

If I keep my room reservation at Port Orleans Riverside, then I'll be having dinner here on my first night! I was on the fence about it, but @kastoney and her review of it swayed me.

Menu Here: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/port-orleans-resort-riverside/boatwright-dining-hall/menus/

I'll likely start by ordering the classic...

SOUTHERN HURRICANE
Myer's Platinum and Original Dark Rums with Tropical Juices topped with a float of Southern Comfort.
BDH-Hurricane.jpg

(Photo from EasyWDW.com)

None of the apps here jump out at me, so I'll probably just go straight for an entree. I'm torn between this...

VOODOO CHICKEN (& Waffles!)
Crispy Battered Chicken Breast and Fluffy Golden Waffles topped with Maple-Bacon Gravy.
BDH-VoodooChicken.jpg

(I totally 100% stole this picture off of @kastoney 's trip report and didn't even ask first. Thanks, Kari!)

Or this...

THE BIG EASY (with a side of Sauteed Mushrooms)
10 oz Grilled New York Strip with Peppercorn Cream served with Crawfish Mac & Cheese.
(Couldn't find a photo, and I'm normally a Ribeye girl, but MAN does that mac & cheese sound delicious!)

Or this!

CHARLESTON SHRIMP & GRITS
Sautéed Shrimp with Vegetables, Tasso Ham, and fresh Herbs served over creamy Cheese Grits.
BDH-ShrimpGrits1.jpg

(Photo from EasyWDW.com)

And for dessert, I'm thinking...

BREW DU KREWE
Espresso-Chocolate Cake with Mocha Ganache and fresh Whipped Cream.
(Which I also couldn't find a photo of, but it sounds AMAZING!)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
YACHTSMAN STEAKHOUSE
Dinner
However, if I'm able to upgrade to the Beach Club as I'm hoping to, I'm going to splurge on my first night amd treat myself! I rarely indulge in Signature restaurants, and this one is absolutely calling to me!
Menu Here: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/yacht-club-resort/yachtsman-steakhouse/menus/
I would start with a glass or two (or three) of wine, and maybe the...
LOBSTER BISQUE
Maine Lobster, Crème Fraîche, Preserved Lemon, Fine Herbes.
YS-LobsterBisque.jpg
(Photo from pinterest.com)
And I definitely know my entree, this is the whole reason I want to go there. A perfect, medium-rare...
16-OZ PRIME RIB-EYE STEAK
With Brioche, Bone Marrow, Point Reyes Blue Cheese Butter.
YS-Ribeye.jpg
(Photo from yelp.com)
With a side of...
TRUFFLE MACARONI & CHEESE
Orecchiette Pasta and Reypenaer.
YS-maccheese.jpg
(Photo from pinterest.com)
And for dessert, perhaps...
CREME BRULEE
Vanilla Custard and Mixed Berries.
YS-cremebrulee.jpg
LIBERTY TREE TAVERN
Lunch
LTT is one that has been on my bucketlist for a long time, and I'm very ready to finally cross is off!
Menu: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/magic-kingdom/liberty-tree-tavern/menus/lunch/
I would start off with an app that is listed as being "for two," but clearly they don't know me...
CRAB AND LOBSTER DIP
LTT-CrabDip.jpg
(Photo from disneytouristblog.com)
And then I'm most certainly having this amazing-looking sandwich...
LIBERTY BOYS BLT
Slow-roasted Pork Belly, fresh Greens, and Tomatoes on House-made Bread with Caramelized Shallots and Mushroom-Mayonnaise Spread.
LTT-BLT.jpg
(Photo from disneyfoodblog.com)
Then dessert, of course, the entire reason I'm coming here for lunch...
OOEY GOOEY TOFFEE CAKE
Vanilla Cake with a Gooey Toffee Filling, Caramel Sauce, and Vanilla Ice Cream.
LTT-ToffeeCake.jpg
Oh my! As I sit here with a slight belly ache because I over indulged at lunch and on treats today I am drooling! (Mexican breakfast burrito for breakfast, lobster stew and fried clam roll for lunch, fudge and some candy for snack oh and a wine and lunch). FYI I'm also going for ice cream soon.
The lobster and crab dip and the truffle Mac and cheese are calling my name! Oh why does it all sound so yummy!
Ok, drooling now and going to allears and easywdw to survey menus!
The only thing I've had on that wish list is the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake...and the reviews are 100% correct. Seriously, one of the most perfect desserts known to man! As far as entrees, my mom and I split the Colony Salad and the Pilgrim's Feast. Both out of this world delicious!
Yaaaassss! :hyper: That would be awesome! We could buddy-up for the party, if you want! I'm planning on a late lunch (2:30-ish) at the Grand Floridian Cafe before-hand, then being in the park by 4pm.
Wow, you are more on the ball than me with the plans...hard to do, sister! :rotfl2: I will have an AP for the trip so I'm thinking about hitting up a park early in the morning than napping at the resort. I like the idea of a late lunch and the Grand Floridian menu does look quite tasty! I need to take a look at this years crowd calendar to get a better idea of my plans!
ZOMG, you weren't kidding about FOOD, GLORIOUS FOOD were you?!?! You had me with that pic of the Southern Hurricane. Rum is my drink, girlie! :drinking1
The food at Boatwright's looks faboo. I was supposed to eat there when I had POR booked. (Which changed to Caribbean Beach, which changed to SSR...lol.) This restaurant is totally going on my 2017 ADR wish list.
I just got ADRs for Yachtsman and LTT (lunch of course) for my February trip. Your pics are only confirming my choices!! ::yes::
ETA: For Yachtsman I think I'm going to have to go with the 8-oz Black Angus Filet Mignon, Mashed Potatoes and Cabernet Wine Sauce and the Brentwood Cornbread, Jumbo Lump Blue Crab, Corn, Ramp Butter. Agreed on the Crème Brulee for dessert!
Looking guuuuuud!!! Yes, I will do my top dining picks as well.... right after my series on each Day's Itineraries. Such exciting stuff!
All 3 of those you have there look great, and I too have heard good things about Boatwrights. Kinda wish I'd tried it when I stayed at POR last time.
I love where this is going!!! The only really bad thing about it is seeing all these glorious pics makes me want to add restaurants to MY ADR wish list!
I love me a hurricane drink! Yummo! The steak with bone marrow @yachtsman looks amazing but for some reason the bone marrow scares me just a little bit :scared:.
Oh! A possible upgrade to BC?!?! Swanky! I hope you get to do it!
Ooh, yum! Now you have me wondering if I should try to squeeze in a Boatwright's ADR somewhere in my jammed schedule :scratchin
Yachtsman is my favorite Signature of all the ones I've tried so far. DH had the Ribeye last year and LOVED it. The bone marrow was a bit too adventurous for him though.
So, I'm sitting here daydreaming about... what else, of course? FOOD, GLORIOUS FOOD. :cloud9: This time, I mostly blame @chunkymonkey and her PTR of deliciousness. :cutie:
Haha, glad to be the cause of such lustful thoughts. I feel hungry everytime I read the DIS.
VOODOO CHICKEN (& Waffles!)
Crispy Battered Chicken Breast and Fluffy Golden Waffles topped with Maple-Bacon Gravy.
BDH-VoodooChicken.jpg
(I totally 100% stole this picture off of @kastoney 's trip report and didn't even ask first. Thanks, Kari!)
This looks really good! I have never met a chicken n waffle I didn't like. Another place to add to my list, although I will probably save it for when we stay at POFQ or POR as it's just more convenient.
OMG this entire meal just looks soooo delicious. Loved Yachtsman and will probably try and eat there again next year!
So here's my input on things I can't eat (I'm going based off pictures, descriptions, the fact that I watch Food Network all day, and things I've seen elsewhere) ...
At Boatwright's I'd probably go with the chicken and waffles. I feel like there may be better places at Disney to get a good steak. And personally, I'm not a grits person ... although being from the South, I'm guessing you have a different opinion on grits than I do.
Good call on the Rib Eye at Yachtsman (that's one of the "better places to get steak" I was referencing earlier). And that truffle mac and cheese looks super yummy.
The LTT food looks great too ... and that Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake looks like something I would want like 4 of... and now I'm hungry for some cake.
Oh my! As I sit here with a slight belly ache because I over indulged at lunch and on treats today I am drooling! (Mexican breakfast burrito for breakfast, lobster stew and fried clam roll for lunch, fudge and some candy for snack oh and a wine and lunch). FYI I'm also going for ice cream soon.
Wow, it sounds like you had a great food day. I need to hang with you! :cutie:
The lobster and crab dip and the truffle Mac and cheese are calling my name! Oh why does it all sound so yummy!
Because it probably IS all so yummy! I'll find out next year! :goodvibes
Ok, drooling now and going to allears and easywdw to survey menus!
Girl, if you only knew how much time I spend doing that... :rotfl:
The only thing I've had on that wish list is the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake...and the reviews are 100% correct. Seriously, one of the most perfect desserts known to man! As far as entrees, my mom and I split the Colony Salad and the Pilgrim's Feast. Both out of this world delicious!
I cannot WAIT to get my mouth on that cake! OM NOM NOM. And while I've heard great things about the Colony Saland, I just can't. Eating a salad while on vacation just goes against everything I stand for. :laughing:
Wow, you are more on the ball than me with the plans...hard to do, sister! :rotfl2:
Well, you have TWO other trips to plans before October 2016... I only have the one, and I've about planned all that I can plan for it! :thumbsup2
I will have an AP for the trip so I'm thinking about hitting up a park early in the morning than napping at the resort.
That's a great idea! As for me, I'm using it as my "rest" day in the middle of the trip. A day to not have to set an alarm clock, sleep as late as my body will let me (which on vacation usually isn't very late), and then just enjoy my resort. Maybe find me a hot tub, followed by lounging in a pool chair with a book and a mimosa or two. Then back to my room to get cleaned up and ready for my lunch at the Grand Floridian Cafe, followed by MNSSHP! ::MickeyMo
I like the idea of a late lunch and the Grand Floridian menu does look quite tasty! I need to take a look at this years crowd calendar to get a better idea of my plans!
I've been peeping the crowd calendars. The numbers could be lower, but they're not crazy either. Pretty mid-range all week! ::yes::
ZOMG, you weren't kidding about FOOD, GLORIOUS FOOD were you?!?!
I never joke about food. Ever. o_O
You had me with that pic of the Southern Hurricane. Rum is my drink, girlie! :drinking1
Me too, lady!
OP7yFS4vV88ms.gif
Probably because I drank it all, Jack. #sorrynotsorry
The food at Boatwright's looks faboo. I was supposed to eat there when I had POR booked. (Which changed to Caribbean Beach, which changed to SSR...lol.) This restaurant is totally going on my 2017 ADR wish list.
It's one of those that I think looks delicious, but that I don't think I would make a special trip for. But whenever I end up staying at POR, be it on this trip or another one, I'm going to make sure to try it! :thumbsup2
I just got ADRs for Yachtsman and LTT (lunch of course) for my February trip. Your pics are only confirming my choices!! ::yes::
Happy I can help! I hope you'll do a dining report when you get back so I can hear all about it and drool! :goodvibes
ETA: For Yachtsman I think I'm going to have to go with the 8-oz Black Angus Filet Mignon, Mashed Potatoes and Cabernet Wine Sauce and the Brentwood Cornbread, Jumbo Lump Blue Crab, Corn, Ramp Butter. Agreed on the Crème Brulee for dessert!
I'm a ribeye girl through-and-through. And doesn't that creme brulee look amazing? YUM! :D
Mmmmm, crab and lobster dip - I think that is going on my wish list!
I haven't read great reviews of it. But there's been plenty of stuff I've read horrible reviews of at WDW, but tried it anyway and loved. And vise-a-versa too, actually. So I've learned to take reviews with a grain of salt, if something looks good to me, just try it for myself! :cutie:
Looking guuuuuud!!! Yes, I will do my top dining picks as well.... right after my series on each Day's Itineraries. Such exciting stuff!
Can't wait to read all about them! I tend to wait to do my series on daily itineraries until after my FP+ are finalized, so food talk ALWAYS happens in my threads well before that. :rotfl:
All 3 of those you have there look great, and I too have heard good things about Boatwrights. Kinda wish I'd tried it when I stayed at POR last time.
Yeah, I'm making a point of trying it when I stay there, since I can't see making a special trip over there for it. It seems like one of those "hidden gem" sort of places, though! ::yes::
Liberty Tree Tavern is worth it for Ooey Gooey Toffee cake--YUM!
So I've read for years! I'm looking forward to finally experiencing it for myself! :goodvibes
Saw this and thought of you
Xoxo
That dog is my spirit animal. F'realz. :rotfl:
I love where this is going!!! The only really bad thing about it is seeing all these glorious pics makes me want to add restaurants to MY ADR wish list!
That happens to me too ALL THE TIME. :laughing:
I love me a hurricane drink! Yummo!
You and me both, girl! :thumbsup2
The steak with bone marrow @yachtsman looks amazing but for some reason the bone marrow scares me just a little bit :scared:.
No way, dude. I'm eager to try it! ::yes::
Oh! A possible upgrade to BC?!?! Swanky! I hope you get to do it!
Me too! I'll know once the military rates for 2016! :scratchin
Ooh, yum! Now you have me wondering if I should try to squeeze in a Boatwright's ADR somewhere in my jammed schedule :scratchin
I don't know that I would make a special trip there. But I think if you're staying at POR, it's probably worth checking out for sure! :goodvibes
Yachtsman is my favorite Signature of all the ones I've tried so far. DH had the Ribeye last year and LOVED it. The bone marrow was a bit too adventurous for him though.
I'm looking forward to the bone marrow adventure! I mean, if I don't like it, I'm still going to have PLENTY of other delicious food to eat, so no loss, right? :thumbsup2
Haha, glad to be the cause of such lustful thoughts. I feel hungry everytime I read the DIS.
Me too, girl! Me too. :laughing:
This looks really good! I have never met a chicken n waffle I didn't like. Another place to add to my list, although I will probably save it for when we stay at POFQ or POR as it's just more convenient.
Exactly. I can't imagine making a special trip for it, but if you're staying there anyhow, then definitely check it out, right? :goodvibes
OMG this entire meal just looks soooo delicious. Loved Yachtsman and will probably try and eat there again next year!
It does look crazy tasty, doesn't it? I can't wait!!! (Well, I have to wait, because this particular trip is still 14 months away, but you get my drift!) :hyper:
So here's my input on things I can't eat (I'm going based off pictures, descriptions, the fact that I watch Food Network all day, and things I've seen elsewhere) ...
I always love your input, Sarah! :hug:
At Boatwright's I'd probably go with the chicken and waffles. I feel like there may be better places at Disney to get a good steak. And personally, I'm not a grits person ... although being from the South, I'm guessing you have a different opinion on grits than I do.
I think you're 100% right about the steak. And I'm actually now considering ordering the shrimp & grits as an appetizer. Then having the chicken & waffles as an entree. Because I'm fat. :rotfl:
Good call on the Rib Eye at Yachtsman (that's one of the "better places to get steak" I was referencing earlier). And that truffle mac and cheese looks super yummy.
I knowwwww, I'm dying to try it! I could do without all the onion straws on top though, so I'll probably order it without those. :scratchin
The LTT food looks great too ... and that Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake looks like something I would want like 4 of... and now I'm hungry for some cake.
I always want cake. :laughing:
Can't wait to read all about them! I tend to wait to do my series on daily itineraries until after my FP+ are finalized, so food talk ALWAYS happens in my threads well before that. :rotfl:
Oh, I'm absolutely certain a fair amount of "refining" is bound to happen. The rough draft is rolling out now, but there SOOO many factors still dark... like whether an AK night show is coming. New attractions opening and when, etc... But I need to have something to start with in order to flesh out the details. Food is in the works, but since there are a few peoples starting to join in the mix (can you say BIG DISMEET?!) I'm needing to plan those out a bit more carefully.
Yeah, I'm making a point of trying it when I stay there, since I can't see making a special trip over there for it. It seems like one of those "hidden gem" sort of places, though! ::yes::
You should think about a stop in at Yeehaw Bob's one night while you're there! I think there are a lot of resort restaurants that fall into that category... ;)
Happy I can help! I hope you'll do a dining report when you get back so I can hear all about it and drool! :goodvibes
I already have a thread going with some food and drink pics from DL this summer. Wine and Dine next, then Star Wars at DL, then Princess, then Tink weekend at DL. Yeah, it's my Year of Disney(tm).
I've yet to have a DisMeet! Can you believe it?! I mean, it's probably for the best, since I'm WAAAAY cooler and funnier on the internet. :rotfl: But I do plan on getting together with @hokieinpa during this October 2016 trip for some shenanigans, hopefully! :goodvibes
Oh for sure! If I keep my booking at POR, he's definitely on my list of things to check out while I'm there! ::yes::
