I have a car reserved under Dollar right now as they are the cheapest Has anyone had an major issues with them? I read consumer reports and they seem to have some really bad ratings....

I just replied to the other Dollar thread but I rented from Dollar in July and was perfectly happy with them. It was my only renting experience so I don't have anything to compare it to but I skipped the counter, went right to the garage, chose the car I wanted, took a couple of minutes to exit and were on our way. Had no problems with the car, drop off was simple and while it took a few weeks for them to charge my credit card it was the amount I was expecting.

We rented from Dollar several times and had no issues. Walk up to counter, have drivers license and credit card out, sign paperwork, choose car, and off to Walt Disney World!

We have used Dollar at MCO several times with no major issues. Last trip was as previous poster stated, Walk up, complete paperwork and drive off.

Ok good to know. I am renting from Tampa...I hope everything goes well.
Sign up for Dollar Express and have it linked to your reservation and bypass the counter. You go straight to the garage. your name will be posted with the car's location. The keys and contract will be waiting for you in the car.

We are big fans of Alamo, but got a great rate through Dollar for our trip this past May. We were pleasantly surprised by the whole experience....pick up was fast and easy (skipped the counter and went straight to the garage with Dollar Express), we got to pick our own car from what was available on the aisle, and there were no surprises at or after drop off.

If we can be critical at all, it was only to say that their vehicles were a little more worn than our experiences with Alamo's fleet.

We would use them again if their rates were favourable.

I'm glad to hear positive experiences. I have Dollar booked for our trip in December. Started out in the $140's for 4 days and have re booked 3 times. Today it was down to $110. It is a compact car and City Special. We have always used Alamo or National and have had great experiences so I was nervous about using another them. Using a City Special would I be able to somehow bypass the counter? Is it similar to Alamo that you can pick any car in the compact lot?

There was a point and time in 2014 were Dollar was asking to see your fuel receipt showing you had gotten gas within 10 miles of the airport. If you did not get gas within 10 miles there was a surcharge added to your bill.
