i haven't been on her for ages! Well since the app decided not to work anymore.

Anyway my fiancé and I have decided to get married at the world in October 2017 with our two girls there. Has anyone got married here before and can share their experience?

I am interested in how easy it was to obtain a licence to marry for non US citizens and how to register back home. Also I would look to book as soon as the 2017 offers go on sale around April/May next year but from what I understand you can only book a wedding 6 months in advance. If so it seems a bit risky in case we commit to a big holiday/honeymoon but then can't get the date we want for the ceremony.

Lastly what is the ceremony like? Do they have somewhere to get hair and make up done? Where did you go for your evening meal?

Thanks! I'm so excited!!!!!

I have no advice, but congratulations!

(Also, the app is now obsolete- you can uninstall it and use the shiny new version of the website in your normal browser on your phone. It doesn't need a special app anymore as the site is now fully mobile friendly, and much quicker as a result!)

Congratulations :cool1:

For wedding advice you really are best of asking on the Wedding board. There are a few UK brides on here who may be able to give guidance on the UK specific stuff however for up to date wedding info head over to the wedding board :goodvibes

Congratulations!

I second the advice to pop over onto the wedding forum. I can give you a hair and make up recommendation if you don't find someone or something you like. They are independent but do a lot of work for Disney and will travel to you. I liked being able to get our hair and make up done by one team. It was easier to co-ordinate and more cost effective too. You're going to have fun planning this

WE got married i WDW 3 years ago. A couple of days before the wedding we went over to Titusville with our passports, driving licences and 2 proof of address bills to pick up a wedding license. W gave this to the person who carried out our ceremony and he did the rest. Once beck in England we didn't do anything real. As we both work, no-one seemed interested. It took us around 45 mins to drive to Titusville and we spent the afternoon on the beach near there so it wasn't just a wasted day.. I got some really bad advice on here before the wedding. Some one told me I could get the posit office to sign the forms for a licence here just like they do for passports. WRONG! Mine got sent back with my cheque. Someone said I could send an international money order. Wrong. That got sent back too, they only accept american cheques. So after two failed attempts to get the license before we went, we opted for the trip to Titusville.

Congratulations, I got married in Disney in 2008, the biggest most important advice I can give you is book through Disney!! And NOT through a TA for the actual wedding.
We did it through Thomsons and disney cancelled our wedding two wks before hand, because Thomsons had screwed up,and not sent through the paper work, even though they had it months and had been paid in full!

Also if you do it through disney directly, you get two free annual passes to tue parks, that you can activate when ever you want to!
I'll post more info tomorrow because as you can see I'm posting at 2am lol

Congratulations!!

I got married in Disney in 2010 and it was absolutely amazing! Absolutely perfect!
I'd agree with the PP regarding book through Disney, I did a bit of half/half and the Disney elements were so easy and the team there are sooooo helpful!

I can also give recommendations if it will help. We paid for someone to do our wedding license for us so we didn't lose anytime queuing up at the court house gaining the license which comes at a small cost but made it really easy.

There are a number of private dining options that the wedding coordinators can talk you through that are at loads of the resorts/Boardwalk across Disney to suit the size of your group or you can book into one of the normal restaurants.

PM me if I can help with anything, my mini report is on the wedding board if you want to have a look.

Hi. I got married in disney 9 years ago. We had the fairytale package and got married in the disney chapel in the grand floridian. It was hands down the best day of my life (I suppose theo being born might have just been a bit better but you get my drift!) Booked through virgin and it was faultless, every step I felt supported and special. I could go on for hours but that'll bore you! Any questions then please message me on here, I can remember it like it was yesterday! Congratulations by the way
I'm sure you'll have an amazing day!

Laura can I just ask, as you said you booked through virgin, ( I did the same package as you but through Thomsons)
Did you have any calls from your planner before you arrived in the US? We was supposed to get two half an hour phone calls from our planner, to discuss extras and anything we wanted, but didn't get them.
Also did you get the annual passes? They were supposed to be a gift, that disney brides got, with the fairytales escape package, but I know some got them only if booked direct with disney. And not using a TA.
Feel free to Pm the answer instead of on here..thanks

We got married in WDW in 2009. It is really easy to get a wedding licence you just go to the courthouse fill in a form and pay (just uner $100), all you need is your passport. If you don't want to go to the courthouse you can do it via mail but you have to pay for a notary here which can be expensive. Many people think you need to be in the country for 3 days before you can get a licence, this is not the case. You do not need to do anything when you return home.

Are you thinking of the Memories package at WDW? Then yes you can only book this 6 months prior. Don't worry though they have more than one location and more then one time slot so not getting your date would be unlikely.

The ceremony is totally customized between you and the officiant so it can be whatever you want.

Most brides opt to get a mobile hair and make up vendor to come to their room, I used Beaute Special.

I'd suggest Cali Grill for your evening meal so you can view the fireworks to cap the night off.

Feel free to PM me with any questions.

This is true and it's a very good point that you raise because the information on the official websites can read as ambiguous. (I think you corrected me a few months ago and you're right). The three day rule only applies to residents, but Is Waived for visitors. It does state so elsewhere in the pages, but this information isn't prominently displayed. We paid $93.50 for our license a few months ago. You also don't have to apply for the license in the same county as the ceremony is taking place.
