Right now i am scheduled to be in Disney from December 6th till December 18th (but 21 hours driving home so leaving early early that am). Do you think they will do anything big on December 18th for the release that would make it worth my while to extend the vacation out by a day? Prices go way up starting that day because its leading into the weekend before Christmas so its probably really only worth it if Disney is doing something special for it. Otherwise I will just go see it when i get home. Just curious if anyone had any thoughts :)

Probably nothing more than maybe a premiere event at the theater in DTD. Disney really doesn't do anything for movie premieres in parks.

Based on recent developments...

I'm guessing there will be an "exclusive" $50 ticketed event.

And the ticket will allow you to stand inline outside amc to buy a ticket to see the movie.

They might give you a button or something with jar jar on it too...

You forgot the cupcake. There's always a cupcake.

Almost all blockbuster movies released on a Friday now have Thursday evening releases. SW is going to be big, so theaters in all areas including Disney will have Thursday showings at 7pm or 8pm. Therefore you can see the movie the evening of the 17th! Also, Disney has had a few early showings at Disney, but I don't know how often that happens.

Disney has rightfully been pulling out all the stops for SW:TFA because they know they have a tiger by the tail. They might just do something special because this is going to be so big. If so, it will be announced prior to your trip. But at least you can see the movie the night before you leave.
