Hi everyone! I’m really excited to finally start my own PJ and TR and I hope that mine is as helpful as everyone elses!

About us
So... who we are?

DSC02213_2.jpg

My name is Katharina, called Kathi, I’m 24 years old (now 25) and I’m studying law in Munich. I’ve been a Disney fan for all my life, but didn’t find my love for the parks until recently. I grew up at a city with a beautiful lake and I love all things that have to do with water (especially the rides).

DF is called Erhard, 31 years old and is working for an American bank. He’s a gamer since his grandma found a GameBoy with a Tetris game on the street and gave it to him. He grew up in Siebenbürgen and lives in Germany since he was 5.

We’re both very geeky, although we love different (geeky) things most of the time. For example, you can easily spot Erhard being the only one wearing Legend of Zelda T-Shirts in a Disney park ;-) and me being covered with cat hair most of the time (I can’t resist hairy babies!).

How me met
This is a very classical story: we met in a ballroom dancing class.

The long story is much more complicated: I took a dancing class at school when I was 14.

After a very broken heart and the end of the class (nothing really happened, but 14 year-old girls get heartbroken very easily) I swore never to go to a dancing class again except for a refreshing course before my wedding – maybe...

Almost two years after this two of my friends helped out our former dancing teacher as assistants since he actually had a class with less girls than boys – this is very rare, but happened because one of the boys wanted to learn how to dance for his girlfriend who had already taken some classes.

Of course, one of my friends fell in love with the boy who already had a girlfriend and didn’t want to help out anymore (before knowing he had a girlfirend). So they asked me to help out which I finally agreed on. Two classes went by without another falling in love.

When they started a class that never me, nor said girlfriend hadn’t taken before, I was the one without a dancing partner since I had found my love for dancing once more and really wanted to attend the class! Our teacher called an old student – Erhard - as my dancing partner and... as cooky as it sounds it was love at first sight! Our sights crossed across the room, he came towards me and wanted to introduce himself, but we just stared at each other and my friend Jenny (now better known as Maid of Honor) did the introducing for us. Unfortunatley it took months before we had our first date, but now we’re together for over 8 years!

The Proposal
After some time talking about getting married, Erhard surprised me with the most beautiful ring (the Tiffany Setting of my dreams which I never expected him to buy me).

It was very important for him to surprise me, so he planned the proposal for the ball our dancing teacher (better known as the officiant from now on) held for his 40th birthday, although he knows I don’t like to be the center of attention.

So what to do? He already had the ring for weeks, not knowing when to propose, when the ball came up and he called our teacher, Peter, for help.

What had they planned? Well, he filled Jenny and her (now ex-)boyfriend in, so they had their camera ready and when the clock hit 12 o’clock (so that the proposal wouldn’t interfere with Peter’s birthday) the live band stopped with no further explanation. I was leaning against Erhard’s shoulder (after hours of dancing) with my back turned towards him – listening to the band.

Suddenly, one of our favorite songs „After All“ from the German band Mrs. Greenbird played over speakers. It’s a Viennese Waltz and I said to Erhard (still with my back towards him): „It’s a shame we can’t dance!“ (since no-one was on the dancefloor as this seemed like a pause in the program). He stumbled a „yes..“ and begin to slightly turn away from me. Than came a „Kathi?“ – I turned around and... he had a open ring box in his hand! Then he stumbled some sweet things and said: „Will you marry me?“ And I said....

Nothing! It’s really embarrasing, but I was so surprised I couldn’t speak. I just heard voices in my head going on like „OMG, it’s happening!“ „What’s up with you? SPEAK!“ – when I finally said a very quiet „yes!“ and just kissed him (answer enough you’d think? Not for Jenny who instantly asked after our kiss, if I’d accepted.)

And then we were engaged... for almost two years now! So, it’s time to get married!!!

What is planned?
We’re planning on having an UP themed wedding with little nods to other fandoms we love (that’s what the „above“ stands for). It’s going to include Legend of Zelda, Star Trek, Star Wars (no particular order – don’t get mad at me right at the beginning ;-)) and Kiki’s Delivery Service.

We hope to get married on May 5th, 2016 at Canada Terrace, EPCOT. We decided on doing the Escape Package although we’re only four people total (Peter = officiant, Jenny = MOH and the two of us). I know that this isn’t probably the best decision in a financial point of view, but we really want to get married inside one of the theme parks and the only option that appealed to us in the Memories package was Sunrise Terrace which is unavailable during renovations at WL.

So we're getting married:

· Ceremony: Canada Terrace, EPCOT, 9 a.m., May 5th, 2016

· Dessert party at Bonsai Terrace, Japan Pavillon, the same day, 8:30 p.m.

I’m not sure what we’re doing as a kind of reception following the ceremony at EPCOT. I’m not keen on doing a normal restaurant reservation, so I’m looking into doing something through private dining at our resort. (Suggestions are welcomed!)

Vendors (as for now):

· Photography: Root Photography

· Videography: Beyond Videography (ceremony and DP)

· Hair/make-up: About Face Design Studio (Kalie and Gina)

Accomodations:

· 2 Bedroom Villa at the Beach Club Villas (which makes it very easy for our vendors at the morning of the wedding – I hope..)
. Studio at the Boardwalk Inn for our honeymoon - both rooms rented with the DVC Rental Store

We choose the date purely by suggestion to our travel party - and then I found out that we’re in time for the Flower and Garden Festival! And then that the new Frozen ride is likely going to open at that time! And that Rivers of Light could start about that time! * one week later *... OMG, the 4th of May is Star Wars Day!!! (I’m convinced that I have major hidden planning powers ;-P). Later it also turned out that my christening was on that date!

Stay tuned as I will soon unveil our awesome celebratory trip of our second anniversary of our engagement in October!!! (this is going to be our planning trip as well AND first trip to WDW ever!!!)

Hooray for finally starting a PJ!! I'll be following along and particularly looking forward to seeing your UP touches. :)

Thanks for following along, Diana! I saw your pics on Mindy's website and I listened to your podcast and was glad to hear everything turned out so well after your little hiccups with the car and so on! I'm sure to catch up on your TR as soon as I can!!!

Thanks for the tip! I'm sure to check her out! I just finished my 'Our adventure book' and was going to post all the steps to make one (as the international shipping for one from Etsy was insane, so that I had to make one… a reoccurring theme as I might add). We're also going to have an At-home reception and going to attend MNSSHP as Young Carl and Ellie, so be sure to stay tuned on my UPdates (sorry, couldn't let the bad joke ;-)).

Yay!!! It's FINALLY your turn!! I'm so excited to follow along on your long-awaited wedding planning trip, especially after how generous you've been with your time in tagging along my own wedding adventures!! More, more, MORE!!

Thank you!!! I hoped that you would tag along with me. I'm sad we can't meet up for your anniversary as we will be then at WDW, but let's hope for the future to make that happen!

For the first time in (for)ever...:rolleyes1
WE’RE GOING TO WDW!!!!

I’m so excited! :earsgirl::stitch::tink:This will be our first time ever in an American Disney theme park. The only other time – last year - we spent 5 days at DLP.

But I have to say I wanted to get married in WDW even before I got engaged.

Actually, it was a pretty funny story: I saw a preview of the first collection of Alfred Angelo Disney dresses in the German Glamour App and googled them to see better pics. But my google search didn’t show me more pics at the first hit, it lead me to Carrie’s blog DisneyTravelBabble.com. And I read her trip report of her wedding and well... I was hooked! I always wanted to go to DLP, but man, did I now want to experience every single park on the entire planet (and yes, I will someday – how should I complete my Disney cat collection otherwise? – [one day I get you Gelatoni]).

So, as I can’t say much more about our wedding until September 7th, I figured I talk a bit about my upcoming trip!

When? October 8th – October 19th

Where are you staying? Art of Animation (Little Mermaid Room) – Wilderness Lodge Villas (Studio) – Animal Kingdom Lodge (Standard Room)

Where are you dining? Ohana (dinner (fireworks) + breakfast), Parisian Breakfast (F&W), Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre, Kona Café, California Grill (fireworks!), Boma, Tusker House (Donald’s Safari Breakfast), Plaza Restaurant, Beaches and Cream, Tokyo Dining (fireworks), Sanaa (Dine with an Animal Specialist), Be Our Guest (Breakfast and Dinner – I also had a lunch reservation – the time difference can be really handy sometimes ;-)), Teppan Edo – as far as ADR’s go! popcorn::

We also purchased two F&W sampler packages as we’re going to eat and drink around the world.

I also plan on trying the Landscape of Flavors, The Mara, Flame Tree Barbecue – every single Starbucks place (I’m a coffee junkie and yes, we have Starbucks over here, but: it’s insanely priced and we have only like half of the items that you have – cookie straw? yes, please! s’mores frappuccino.... other suggestions are highly appreciated) and after some sugar rushes (or one that will last fort he length of our stay as I hope), we’re going to do..

GUIDED TOURS! :earseek:We enjoyed them so much in DLP (and they’re really cheap – only like 20 €, and both were private for us since nobody knows about them AND [SPOILER ALERT!] you get a surprise: the tours end with an exclusive pin of the park which are really beautiful [END SPOILER].

So.. we take the Keys to the Kingdom Tour, the Animal Kingdom Lodge Night Time Safari (which I hope is worth the money, now that they announced that Kilimanjaro Safaris will be open during night time hours) – and maybe the Behind the Seeds tour.

Moreover as I said before: MNSSHP on October 15th and we’re going as Young Carl and Ellie!

So any suggestions? Did I überplan (is this a verb?)? I try to fit in as much as possible, because I want to do it all... of course, this is insane, so I stick pretty much with the must do’s, but even those are very overwhelming... and in DLP we succeeded in riding every single ride at least once (with the exception of Captain EO which was closed fort he duration of our stay), so I’m kind of ambitious.

What rides / treats are a must do according to you?
I should add that we noticed that we like character meets, but didn’t want to loose to much park time on these, that’s why we like Character dinners so much! And we love Disney food! I always liked theme parks, but hated the quality of the food which, I think, leads to not being able to ride as many rides as you could (and being happy all the time).

That WDW trip sounds amazing! I'm drooling over your ADRs. The character breakfasts are great as well (for the in park ones) because if you plan them right, you can squeeze them in before park opening, thus sacrificing zero park time haha. We do WDW the same way and cram as much as humanly possible. In fact, I make a handy reference color-coded spreadsheet to give us a quick visual guide to our overall Disney World adventure so we always can maximize our park time.

Thank you! Yes, most of the breakfast ADR's are before park opening (I can't wait to be in the park before everyone else!). And yes, I have a colored spread sheet - I like MyDisneyExperience, but why on earth aren't you able to put your (fully-paid) tours in the thing (which led to a nice pricey overseas call, as I thought our tours weren't in the system and we went through 3 CMs until one simply explained that you just can't link them to your account…)?

Wow -- that WDW itinerary! It sounds amazing. You're eating at 2 of our very favorites: Tusker House breakfast and Sanaa. :) I can't wait to hear about it, and more about your wedding/planning too of course. :goodvibes

I adore your itinerary!! You're going to have such a blast, I only wish we were able to take an anniversary trip so our paths would cross!

Following along!
We are in the planning phase too so it is very nice to read along with someone who is a planner (like me) and is having to wait to iron out the details too!
Also I'm loving your upcoming trip plans! We didn't do any of the tours so I want to hear your reviews!

OMG I'm jealous!!

And are you sure you're not me from a different time???!! I totally wanted Sunrise Terrace too. So bummed out right?
And I considered Canada too, but I couldn't do the extra and too darn early for me. And Japan Bonsai for Dessert Party.
Too funny! LOL

We are doing an Escape as well, in April 2016.

I was about to start with your PJ, but couldn't find the time! That's very cool - we're wedding twins:yay:

UPDATE – we’re confirmed! :jumping1:

So I just wanted to share my excitement with you: we’ve been confirmed!! :cool1:

With both venues on our preferred date! Now we’re waiting for the LOA and to put our deposit down...... FINALLY!!!!

Now the real planning starts - I’m about to write all our vendors back.

Moreover we had our site-visit for our At-home-reception yesterday.

We’re doing a brunch reception at the Four Seasons of my hometown (which I wouldn’t have thought of, if it wasn’t for the DisBrides community – and it’s very cheap compared to everything else, because we’re living in a very pricey area – so thanks!) then a little break with dancing etc. and then we’re having a teatime.

Everthing went well, except that I can totally forget my UP-inspired decorations for that – the venue is much to posh for that (I was thinking lace and mason jars): the walls are covered with cherry wood and the carpet is royal blue and golden yellow (which immediately reminded me of Beauty and the Beast). But DF agreed that we do different Disney couples for every table in subtle way. We’re thinking Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and Jasmine, Rapunzel and Eugene, and Ariel and Eric (and maybe Cinderella and Charming), however, to continue my orginal theme, our present/guest book table will still be UP themed. – any suggestions are welcome, but I really can’t think of a classy/stylish UP wedding.

And to end I wanted to encourage you all to follow me on Instagram. That’s the place I’m going to post everything since we’re kind of eloping I can’t post on Facebook. My username is: miss.kathi01 :tink:

More coming soon, I promise!
