One mans dream, why not have it at Downtown Disney

Ive heard on the show and read in the boards people wondering what's going to happen to one mans dream.

Why not put it at Downtown Disney/Disney springs?. It would be a great place to go and learn a little about Walt and being at DTD it can be free. I'm sure there must be room somewhere to put such an important attraction which I believe would be very popular.

A good amount of the artifacts belong to the Disney family and the family museum. Walts office was just taken out. The Disney family has been asking for that office for a long time. One Mans Dream was only supposed to be temporary anyways because of the 100 years of magic celebration. It's unlikely one mans dream gets put anywhere else. I also don't think it would ever go to Disney Springs because that's not a place you pay to get into.

Yes I realise that technically it would be a free attraction, I'm annoyed with myself that I've been to the studios twice and everytime I'm running around the park for fastpasses or toy story and missed out on a great attraction which I know I would enjoy (my fault entirely).

My thoughts for DTD would be a bit of lunch, shopping and then having A stroll around the museum would be a great evening at DTD. If they wanted to they could make it a part of your ticket (like Disneyquest was).

i would place some historical artifacts at the Contemporary Resort - maybe even in that third floor meeting space which is usually empty. They have lots of park memorabilia at the Disneyland Hotel, so why not here too?

I do hope it's still there in November when I visit. (it's all about me, right?) We didn't have time for it in March and it's been on the top of our to do list.

I hope they decide to keep it. Its understandable that the family would like the pieces back to display them in the museum. However, is it out of the realm of possibility that some Walt Disney Memorabilia could be on loan to a spot somewhere in the World? I could imagine a rotating items on display along with maybe some reproductions of important objects and the film being the centerpiece.

As far as theming, Main Street would seem to me to be the best fit. But, Disney imagineering is amazing and I'm sure they can creatively fit it in about anywhere, even Disney Springs. And I wouldn't have any problem at all with paying for admission, just like you would for most museums and attractions of that sort - as long as it was reasonable (I know, what does reasonable work out to be according to Disney). I can't imagine I'm alone in that opinion.

Actually, the more I think about it, the more placing it in Disney Springs makes some good business sense as well as theming in a way. If I recall correctly, Disney Springs is suppose to emulate a community? Well, aren't towns more than shops and restaurants? So that would work as one of this "town's" attractions. On the business side, some people might not be into shopping very much...this could be another draw to come to this area. This "town" has bowling, movies so why not a "museum" that pays homage to the namesake of the town?
Get em in, they'll probably eat somewhere and spend a little money in a store or two.

But, then, what do I know? I'm just a Disney fan that would spend extra money to see this attraction if it wasn't in a theme park and would eat a meal and shop in many stores while I was there...I'm no expert!;)

I'm spewing that I didn't get a chance to see this when I was there last year and was looking forward to seeing it when we go next year

Glad I got to see it a couple of weeks ago. His office was gone. I hope they figure out a way to keep some of this in WDW

Glad you got to see it, HubbDave, but so sorry you didn't get to see Walt's office - I seriously got "chills" looking at it, and imagining all the wonderful ideas that germinated there - "if walls could talk" ran though my head. :)

Just a quick history refresher....

From 1973 until 1992, The Walt Disney Story was an attraction on Main Street in Town Square.
It then disappeared for 9 years until reappearing as One Man's Dream at Disney-MGM Studios (later renamed DHS) in 2001.

Maybe it was meant to be temporary at its current location but for about 34 of the 44 years Walt Disney World has existed, so has this attraction. That doesn't really sound temporary to me.

I certainly hope it will find a new home. I'd be happy to see it anywhere but my preference would be back on Main Street where it began.

As for putting it in DTD/DS, my only problem with that is that most visitors to the parks never go there so it wouldn't be seen by as many people.

The last time we were there, we were with my SIL and her family. It was their first time and they looked to me to play tour guide which I was happy to do. It was on the list of things to do along with the Magic of Disney Animation, but we never got to it. Instead, we spent way too much time in the stores because even though it was the day before Thanksgiving, my SIL didn't believe me when I said to be prepared for ALL types of weather. They were all wearing short shorts and tank tops. (My family was in jeans and sweatshirts.) It was COLD last year!

We didnt get to it because that was our first day and we had reatly underestimated the time it would take to check in my dog at Best Friends Pet Care - @45 minutes first morning and @30 each morning after that!

It just shows that if you are going with a plan, you really need to be flexible and able to change on the go!

I don't think that it fits in with the new theme of Disney Springs as it stands now. I'd like to see it at Magic Kingdom.

I so hope it finds a new home, i so loved walking around there and seeing all the items from his past, makes you feel so much closer to his past. The exhibits are just to good to be simply archived away, they need to be open for visitors and they need a Walt based attraction in WDW.
