Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

So our flight took off and had to diverted to Atlanta due to weather. After 45 minutes we took off and we just landed at MCO. We are on DME now headed to the poly for 5 nights.

To top it off the plane that we were originally on was repaired and took off before our new plane did!!!! We would've taken off first but there was a paperwork issue with our flight. Apparently the wrong captain was on our flight info and it took SW almost an hour to fix it. The pilot was so upset.

I will be contacting SW soon about all of this.

I still haven't received a text about my room at the poly. So it's a waiting game now. The suspense is killing me!

We're just happy to be here. Had to change some plans around. Going to hit MK for EMH tomorrow instead of Epcot.

You sure had quite the travel ordeal. I'm glad you made it. Hopefully you are fully immersed in the Disney magic and were able to put yesterday behind you.

How is the Wifi in YC? I am getting my master's online and will have to do some homework and classes while I am at Disney :sad2: :sad1: :sad2: :sad1::sad:. Will I be able to log into wifi in the resort and get this done?

2 days to go! I made my 6 y/o a frozen fever dress that I still need to hem and embellish! My 8 y/o, who was to cool to wear a dress wants to know if I can make her something. Thinking I can whip up a quick skirt. Oy!

I think I might upgrade our ponchos (got cheapie dollar ones right now) in case we do get hit with Ericka. Told my hubby if I was going to weather a hurricane, Yacht club seems like a great place to do it.
I went to the dollar tree this week for the purpose of buying cheap ponchos and they said they don't carry them anymore!! Anywhere else cheap to get them?

What a great MOM!!! I myself can't sew a button back on :sad2: We used to do the cheap ones, until our July 2013 trip. I tell you it rained (not afternoon shower type, POURED) each day!!! We gladly bought the better ponchos and used them the entire week!!!
Ok so where do the better ponchos come from...do you mean Disney ones? I like the idea of having disposable ones though...

Another busy dark side day. Sunny this morning, dark clouds rolled in around 11 then it rained from noon until a little past 2. That was ok. We were eating at cowfish almost the whole time it rained.p SO GOOD!!!

A woman came over to our table and said "I know you are Dee. I read your trip reports. " I asked her screen name but she doesn't post. I turned beet red and my family thinks I'm weird.
Ummmmm that's hysterical -- why be so cryptic?? Ahahahahaha

I used to sew clothes for our two daughters and I was always sewing something at the last minute. The homemade costumes always look and feel better than the store bought ones. :thumbsup2
Yep, mama taught us right. Here's what I worked on during a professional development seminar last year... followed by the finished product.

Check walmart! Ours had a huge variety starting at $.98 for the cheapies.

I ended up getting better quality ones at a sporting goods store (that is apparently filtered on this site) for $5. They are heavier material and have drawstring hoods and side snaps.

Dollar Tree website shows still available with free pick-up at store. You might want to check for your area. I have seen them recently in my area Dollar Tree stores.

We got the same $5 ponchos at the sporting goods store that must not be named. "Richards"

Sorry to hear of your misery but I've been there and know that in the long run you will be happy you did it, even if you aren't financially rewarded for the work. You see the pictures posed by Madame of her three children working the internet, all at the same time. I will say that from the room WiFi can be spotty at times but I've been pretty lucky with it. If you do have issues, the Solarium in the BC has very good reception and the tables in the Ale and Compass (lobby of the YC) have always been good to me. I haven't tried the tables at the quiet pool or SAB but I bet that would be a really nice place to do some school work at. You might give that a shot and report back on your success (or failure). Not a great way to enjoy a stay at the World, but there always could be worse things (right Erika?).

Dee - I think we have the same ponchos!

Right now I'm sitting in the BC laundry room by the quiet pool. Even though we are at YC I'm just more familiar at the BC laundry. Plus DH can bring me coffee from the marketplace. We are LOVING our YC room!

Enjoy the laundry! Happy your are enjoying your YC room! See you soon.

You think that's embarrassing! Try streaking nekked through Walt Disney World, only to be recognized (How, I don't know), and have to turn down an autograph seeker because you don't have a pen on you.

These are some fantastic ideas KatesDad! I can say that I have never had a problem at WDW with the hotel wifi so don't worry. Realize that there can be some spotty areas in any location's wifi network so try to keep that in mind. The solarium at the BC is almost always quiet until it's not if that makes sense. The busy hours can vary with the crowded times of the day so here's another hot tip. I'm thinking that they would have decent Wifi in the public lobby areas of the Beach Club Villas.

Those areas are fairly cozy (it's sofa city over there) and they are almost always deserted. If things are too hectic for you in the public areas of the Beach Club resort try hoofing it over to the Beach Club Villas lobby, which is literally a 15 second walk (if you are a turtle) across from the outside exit of the Solarium. If you look outside from the Marketplace location you'll see another entrance with an Arial the mermaid statue by the doors. Walk in those doors and check it out to see if it is to your liking.

Good luck with your studies and have a wonderful time on your vacation.
