BCV .......Is there actually any advantages to requesting specific room requests?

Hi all,
I am a few days away from our first stay at BCV. We lucked pixiedust: out when the big room dump happened and tons of rooms became available out of no where. Hubby just happened to be searching and saw rooms available for our dates. We were already booked at BLT (would have been a first there too) and we quickly cancelled and rebooked at BCV. Hoping that was a good move, after reading all the reports on the run down condition of rooms, I'm a little leery now but willing to take the chance to experience the pool. Anyway, I noticed when booking, that all rooms are considered standard so I have no clue if it's even worth trying to request anything special in the hopes of it being granted. I saw these were the options:

Large Balcony, upper floor, near elevator, woods view, ground floor, lower floor and canal view. I've tried to research ahead of time but I'm just as confused now as when I started. I've seen a few pics of the oh so lovely roof top views and REALLY would not want that. :crazy2: Why even have a balcony if you have to look at that. Is there anything to request that kind of keeps you away from getting that ugly view? It will be me, hubby and two grandchildren (5 and 4). Doesn't really matter that we have to be close to an elevator. They can go like the energizer bunnies. We were just there for two weeks in May and even by the end of he night, they'd rather run up the stairs then take the elevator so that's not a big concern for us.

Any thoughts or insights would be greatly appreciated. Either way, at the end of the day, we are going "home" again and are grateful to be able to. :cloud9:

Thanks!

A few days away, you should have made your request when you made the reservation.

Room assigners can start the assignment process up to 10 days prior to check in. What you want is a pool view, call MS and add the request to the reservation.

The choices available online are meant for Disney's cash guests and don't always reflect the correct DVC choices.

I always request a ground floor, pool view. We love walking out the back door to the quiet pool.
