Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

About how long should I allow to get from AK park to the GF using Disney bussing? We have a Park Fare ADR at 6:35. Will we have time to stay until the 6:00 park closing and still get to the GF for our ADR? Or should we try to duck out a little early? Thanks!

The bus will stop at Poly before GF, and it's a rather long drive with possible traffic congestion on 7 Seas at that time of day, so you should allow the full 1 hour recommended wait + travel time. So if you want to check in 15 minutes before your ADR, you should try to be at the bus stop at AK by 5:10.

Thank you! I figured we wouldn't make it till closing but that's ok. Maybe I'll try to get a later Park Fare time. That might be easier said than done!!

On our DHS day (Mid-November trip) we are wanting to eat an early lunch at Wolfgang Puck Express at Downtown Disney, then shop a little. We're staying onsite but will have a car, and we will probably drive to DHS that morning. What would be the best way to get to DTD (and back to DHS a couple hours later)? Would driving there really be that bad since it's early in the day?

Is there a better way to get there via a combination of Disney buses/boats/walking?

Thanks!

It's too soon to guess what the traffic situation will be like in 3 months. By then, more of the road improvements and garage access could be open ... or things could be more messed up than they are now. But I don't think you'd have too much trouble getting into the garage midday on a weekday. As it stands now, driving from DHS, you must turn left at the TL entrance to get into the garage.

OTOH, it's relatively simple and quick to take a bus from DHS to SSR, and then walk from the Congress Park station to WPE. In fact, the walk from Congress Park is probably not much longer than the walk from the garage.

Thank you! I think I actually like the Saratoga Springs option more anyways!

Well, there is no sidewalk from the cast entrance to WL to the water bridge but from the water bridge to the CR there is a sidewalk. So you COULD walk to MK but it's not advisable.

For me, there is too much traffic on World Dr just from buses that make attempting to walk safely to the water bridge not practical.

Sure, but WDW could built it if it wants because the distance is negligible. That's my point.
And if they did that? Resort rates at WL would go up. Why? Because Disney could say that you can walk to MK from WL.
Seriously, it's not really a negligible distance. When you consider how many people complain about the distance from the food court to the Little Mermaid rooms at AoA, and that truly is negligible.....well, the majority of guests are going to fall into that category or close to it...those that don't want to walk further than they absolutely have to.
So, Disney doesn't build sidewalks everyplace they possibly can. Those sidewalks would have to be lit, they would have to be patrolled for 'critters'...I have to imagine that critter patrol in the WL area would be substantial with the watery areas.
With two types of transport available, I figure WL is well taken care of.

My apologies if this has already been asked, but what time does the TTC tend to open. For example, will it open early enough for me to ride the monorail to get to a 7:30 ressie at the Contemporary if the MK opens at 9?

Yes, the TTC is basically open all the time. The monorail starts running at 7am. So, it will be close. You will want the resort line, then get off at the CR...takes about 20 mins total.

Good points, but a path already exists between Ft Wilderness and WL, almost as long if not the same distance as a theoretical sidewalk connecting the TTC and WL, and a path on which critters and tourists cross paths all the time.

What ultimately makes my point moot: there's no reason for WL guests to visit the TTC anymore unless they wanted an Epcot monorail connection.

I think my biggest issue would be that any possible sidewalk, from WL to TTC, would most likely have to be alone the roadway.
