The ABC's of Trip Planning, Pt 1- K is for Keeping Things Kooky- Drinks V-Z; pg. 197 + New Link

What a great experience to get to tour the Corvette museum and plant. Sounds incredible. Yes even the sinkhole.

Your AK morning sounds relaxing. There is new exploring to do too! FOLK is in a new place and the theater is big and very much like the old one but I think there is better lighting in there now.

There are a few young gorillas that are very easy to stand and watch for a good bit of time. The Marketplace is a good addition and has nice seating to rest a bit.

Only had drinks at Sanaa .... but going out to watch the animals is great.

Ohhhh I am excited for you....

Great that tuition is payed for and you are almost ready to go back to school.

Meantime, I work, come home, DIS for a bit, make futile attempts to keep the house clean, am mostly unsuccessful, then fall into bed by 8:30. I, in some ways, wish my summer had been more restful, but the money is good and I'm getting all kinds of great experience.

Welcome to the life of Nursing! That is pretty much how my whole summer has been.

Here are a few random photos from around the World to go along with Letter G. Enjoy the views!

And while I was looking around for them, looky what I found, Pat! See, we did have a GREAT time that day!! SOOOOO looking forward to seeing you again and having just as much fun!

It was really interesting and fun! Loved it!

I'm so glad I'm planning in 2 full days for each park. When trips are averaging 5 years apart, there's always new stuff for me to see. I need to look at maps and lists of stuffs to do, and make some detailed lists of the new stuff so I don't miss it!

I love watching primates! They are very entertaining and yes, I can watch for quite a while and not be bored. I am super excited to check the new area out; I'm sure it's really pretty like everything else in AK.

Last time I was there, they had a demonstration of feeding the vultures. It was fascinating! So much to see there!

I know!! And I got paid today, and it's actually enough for fully covering 2nd Term's tuition!!

I had to say a last and final good-bye to my favorite patient today. It was very, very hard to keep my sh#$ together in front of the family. Tomorrow is my very first shift all by myself. I"m scared to death- I just want to end the day without killing anyone.

Yes, it is always hard when a patient dies, let alone a favourite. Good luck tomorrow, you will be fine! Just remember that even though people think nurses know it all we don't and when in doubt, look it up!

I know it is a very real part of our job to help a family through the process and to help make it as peaceful and positive as possible.

Thanks! I will do fine, although, I'll also probably be quite late getting out, as I am sooooo slow at med passes still. Slow and steady is my modus operandi for now... :/ And the good news is that I'll have a "partner" on the adjacent hall who can be there if I need her. :)

sounds like a fun AK morning. We love doing AK in the morning, usually beginning with the safari. We've only done one trail because it always seems to rain on our AK days, and my kids can't handle rainy days, if it was just me I'd push through knowing I'd get to see and do so much more since the parks clear out, but we tend to clear out too. We've never gone to Sanaa, I didn't know you can see the animals while you eat, that sounds lovely. Looking forward to where you will spend the rest of day 3.

Hooray for first semester being paid and all your accomplishments. :flower1:

Hey There!! I like the mornings too! HOWEVER, now I'm hearing that the new night-time show may be open before our trip, SOOOO I may have to build in an evening to the itinerary. I'm actually sitting here with a spreadsheet open doing all I can in planning this morning since I got an evening shift today. My first all alone. EEK! Anyway, trying to get stuff down on paper and things thought through.

Yesterday, my hubby, for the FIRST time, got in on the planning of the Keys part. He's pretty excited now about it. I think he's finally resigned to the Disney part (which he won't even be part of for most) which gives me even more confidence about moving ahead with solid plans.

Well, I am joining in late to the party, and will catch up over the next few weeks, judging by the number of pages. :)

You rock! Your life experience in general, and your travelling experience, will give you a great perspective to add to your studies. I admire your determination and enthusiasm! And, your daughter's wedding looked gorgeous!

One is NEVER late to this party. Ever. A huge and warm :welcome::welcome: to you!! It is great to have new life added to this somewhat slower than usual PTR. With all I have going on, I'm just trying to stay caught up and keep things remotely interesting on here. ;)

School will be starting back up in a couple of short weeks and it'll turn back into mostly school-related drivel, but ultimately ALL about Disney, for that is a pretty big motivator for doing well and finishing. Meantime, I'll chug away at posting plans as I make them. In fact, I just started yesterday at my first attempt at a Master Spreadsheet. Fitting all of the new things to do and restaurants I want to try is pretty tough, EVEN WITH A 10 DAY TRIP!! Anywhoooo, hope you enjoy being here as much as I enjoy having you here.

Sorry for no live links; with the new DIS System not taking you to a single post, it was just as good to put a page number and easier for updating the TOC quickly.

Enthusiastic double post, lol!

Haha! I've never seen the "Enthusiastic Double Post Technique"! Very nice touch! ;)

Hey Tammie. :) They deployed the Guard a couple of days ago as well, so both air and ground support arrived to my hubby's fire which is good. But I"m anxious to hear if the copter that crashed was Guard or private. Anyway, it is SOOOOO bad for the first time EVER they are actually calling up volunteers. Truly unbelievable.

Yes it is crazy. Jim was trained and on the list a few years ago but never called up. Of course many of Ryan's co-workers from Kingsley have gone but he is being sent on another mission so they took him off the list. I see some rain in Washington and Idaho so maybe relief is coming still praying.

Yay! I am caught up here, just in time to head over for a little shin dig for our little Maddox turning three today!
As you know, I love love love AK! It seems my companions and I are always on the move when we are there. So I have never had a chance to just sit and listen to the music, although we did steal a few moments this last trip. A Bloody Mary mid morning while enjoying the performers sounds great!
Rafiki's teain to nowhere does not, however :rotfl2:we firmly believe they trap you back there and don't send the return train to keep the crowds thinner back in the real park. :bitelip:

Oh, and I would love to join you for that drink, but the Texas kids have requested a DLR trip for Christmas 2016 so I don't think Oct will be happening unless I get better about saving

I'm glad Mike is back home, safe. That's unreal about the sinkhole at the Corvette museum. What a shame. I missed that somehow. I got to tour the Saturn plant that was in Wilmington, DE back in 2002 or so. It was really neat to see. Not quite as cool a product at the end as a Corvette plant, but I'm sure the process was similar.

Hi Glenn! When you mentioned Saturn it reminded me of when we bought a new Saturn. It wasn't at the factory but when they gave us the keys they had the whole dealership come out and sing and cheer for us. :rotfl2:

Not quite the Corvette factory, but it was exciting at the time.

I am still mystified by many things on the new Dis!!!

I think we all are. I learn something new almost every time I spend time on here; most of all that it's really important to actually subscribe to threads or my memory fails me. And I don't get notifications.

Yes, we are getting rain today but I'm not sure if it reached the East side. Unfortunately, yesterday's wind really did a number on several of those fires making them worse. Much worse. I don't know how long the Guard will be out on the ones near Baker City and Troy. Time will tell...

Happy birthday, Little Maddox!!! 3 is so full of wonder and excitment! No school yet, play all day, naps.... man! I'd love to be 3 again!

Yes, AK is a place where both being busy AND just sitting are all win situations. It really has the best of both worlds. Haha! That's funny about Rafiki's. We had a GREAT experience there and no issues with trains, but I CAN see that happening. Hmmm.... I think it's worth it if you have several trips into AK, but for a single morning or day into AK, not so much.

Tammie... DO think about a Ladies' Tripp in 2017. I think it would be fabulous to get 4 like-minded women together to share the cost of a resort room, get 6 day PH's and just explore together. Can you imagine the shenanigans?????

Thanks Glenn!! He is pretty sure he'd go out again if called up. $4,000 in a week is nothing to sneeze at. 16 hour days of sitting in the 100 degree heat, running to and from the fire, camping in a tent, etc... yeah, I think they deserve it.

You should Google the security camera video!! It's unreal. You can see the cars simply disappear! Fwooop!

Yes, I"m sure the processes were quite similar. A lot of noise, people, busy-ness, etc.... I found it fascinating.

That's actually even more cool! They didn't sing at the Corvette "Nursery".

Lots going on... always.

First of all, I'm 90% sure I've made our resort choice. Or is it resort choices??? Hmmmm.... I invite you to stay tuned to find out! Big(ger) things happening now on our trip front as some things seem to be becoming clearer. How exciting is THAT?!

But before I share, I must face another day at work. Luckily it's an early morning shift, so I'll have a bit of time in the afternoon to write some things up.
