Hello all

We're visiting between 5th and 17th October and have never been to the MNSSHP and wondered if it would be worth buying tickets just for the experience.

We dont have kids and are not hugely into the haloween thing but we love everything Disney so do you think its something thats worth trying just the one.

We really dont fancy the HHN .... Just not our cup of tea at all .
Im also a bit conscious that we're a gay male couple not dressing up going along to a kids party and wouldnt like to think that we'd look a bit weird.....would you recommend it?

Hi,
MNSSHP has the MK best fireworks and parade. Can't get enough of it. We went in 2012 to our first party and now plan our vacations around it!
(I do love Halloween/Fall)
There are also lots of adults only, ones that don't dress up, ones who do. I don't think anyone would bat a eye a you. Loads of different people go.

Soundsgood

What are the crowds like?
Are all of the attractions open?

We have only been on the 31st (Halloween) sold out party. The rumour (they don't release actual numbers) is 25,000 tickets per party. I use Josh's tour plan (easywdw) as a base, then tailor it to our preference.

The only thing's not open are Carousel of Progress, Hall of Presidents, and Jungle cruise. Make sure you two trick or treat at least once. We hit all the t&t lines. (sometimes twice)

Here is some threads about it.

Even if you just want to ride on rides and do nothing else I think the party is worth it. Past two years we have done it on 31/10 and every ride apart from 7dmt was a walk on. Fireworks were great and free sweets. What's not to love?

You don't have to dress up, I never have and you won't feel at all stupid or out of place

Fireworks and parade are worth it imo. Lots of adult couples.

Some adults like my DH don't dress up, some do and look great. I go for the mid ground of a halloween disney t shirt.

Go for a midweek date if you can.

DBF & I did it last year. We both aren't into Halloween, and didn't fancy Universal's HHN.

The parade and fireworks were fabulous. Crowd levels were busy, but the park was moving freely (I expected worse) - some places were pretty empty. Only real congestion was at the parade areas, which is to be expected, and at the Liberty Bell Trick or Treat station.
We managed to ride Splash Mountain & Rail Road a couple of times with short queues. At one point there was no queue for Splash...it was also the only time we managed to do SDMT.

The Trick or Treating is great fun - my DBF was squealing like a little kid he was having so much fun.

We didn't dress up. Plenty of adult couples there who also didn't dress up. Although next year, I am going to do a costume - not sure about DBF though!

Went went to a Sunday night party.

I highly would recommend it!

We ended up having to change our vacation dates and it pushed us back and week so know we will be there during the Halloween party nights. However, I'm wondering if people thing it's worth it if we do it just really for the experience of the parade and fireworks? We might or might not take in any rides (adults only, so if we catch a ride it's fine if not it's no big deal), but I think it'd be fun just to see a parade and fireworks display that I might not have the chance to see again.

Also, no one in my family is big on Halloween so we won't be dressing up and we don't want to feel out of place either, but here's a question is the trick or treat stations just for those who are in costume? Are all the shops open for people to shop during the party?

The trick or treat stations are for everyone and I'm pretty sure all the shops are open.

I think the party is totally worth it. We're an adult couple with no kids and we've been 4 times. We usually dress up but many people don't so you won’t look out of place if you choose not to. I like the atmosphere and looking at other peoples creative costumes. The parade is fun and even if that’s all you go for you’ll fit in loads of other stuff too, there’s enough time to see the parade and do other things. Hallowishes is pretty good too.

The Halloween party is really worth it - your holiday dates are good too as you avoid the first night (which is all camera and really busy) and the dates over Halloween itself are the busiest. Mid week dates are quieter and avoid the dates around the Columbus day national holiday weekend as that will draw the crowds.
As others have said - the fireworks and parade are worth it alone and you can meet some amazing characters you don't normally get to see. The queues for the rides are normally shorter and the ticket allows you into the park from 4pm, day guests must leave by 6.
It's a really good atmosphere in the parks and you will see people equally in fancy dress and not.

Not been before but really hoping the dates are the same as this years so I can do it for the first time next year, 3 adults ;)

It's well worth it - arguably Disney's best fireworks and parade take place during MNSSHP.
We're a couple with no kids and it's never been an issue - enjoy the unique characters, shows, decorations and trick or treat stations the same as anybody else, just like you would during a "normal" day at Disney.
Plenty of people don't dress up - ourselves included - so don't worry about that.
As others have said, if you can go mid-week it is much quieter.
Enjoy!

We have done it 5 or 6 times (Plus twice at DL, CA) Highly recommend.
We sometimes dress up, sometimes not but I would say we enjoyed the times we dressed up more. The CM's interact with you a lot more. One time all we did was wear a spider headband on our heads, we got comments like "don't want to frighten you but you have a large spider on your head sir"
Totally your choice and you need to feel comfortable doing it but I would say dress up even if its not full outfits.
