Parking Overnight at City Walk

I am sure it's here somewhere, but searching was fruitless. I was wondering if you can park overnight at City Walk. I would like to get an AP, park our car there for free, and stay at an on-site hotel. I don't want to have to pay the Loew's parking rates, if I can help it. I know that the AP has to be used before you can park for free. Is that after a full first day, or just after having entered a park once with the AP? Thanks

once the parking garage closes, all left cars are towed away.

the towing fee and holding fees until you get your car back, could be higher than the nightly parking fee at the resorts.
you don't want to deal with that.... yikes!

if you stay one night onsite and do the parks two days, you will only have a one night hotel parking fee as rates don't start until midnight.

Mac is right.......it's an absolute no no to parking overnight in Citywalk garage.........

You will be towed.

Not worth it to save $22.

for the ap to be active for using at the garage, only have to have it activated.
some do a drop off to have the ap activated at the parks then have the driver come back and pick them up.
then they park the car so no fee is charged for the garage.

sorry, didn't read your other question when i posted last night.

No one wants to pay to park. But if you have a car onsite you will pay to park. No way around it.

The AP parking benefit isn't helpful for onsite guests. But if you're ever offsite, then you'll appreciate it.

I figured it was too good to be true, but I had to ask. Thanks everyone.

Another question. Is the valet parking at HR, PB, and RPR the quoted valet rate, or is it the valet rate plus the overnight rate? I am starting to think we might have been over-charged:(

this is the only thing i found about hotel parking rates:

  • PARKING: Self parking fees are $20.00 USD per night and valet are $27.00 USD per night. Payable directly to the hotel at check-in. *Rate subject to change without prior notice.

tipping is an addition to the parking fees i thought.

tax is not included on the prices listed above.

That's what I found too. I think I need to see about a refund. Thanks

call the hotel directly and ask to speak to one of the managers for the credit.
it won't be an issue.

i had to get a credit one time before and it was easy to take care of.

You can park for one night at the garage without being towed. There are people who drive, go to Citywalk, unexpectedly end up consuming too much alcohol to drive home, and leave the car. They park the cars in a different section the next day so that they know who left the car behind. If you leave the car there two nights, they will tow it. We left a car parked one night in the garage on a two night trip. It's absolutely ridiculous that they charge parking for the hotels, especially for AP holders. Why should an AP holder pay a high fee to park when parking is free in the garage?

We were having this discussion on facebook earlier.

I have a feeling they do it so that you don't choose to park at the hotel daily to go to the parks. The hotel parking is not extraordinary expansive.. I remember driving around PBH looking for a spot in September one year. I think $20 is a bit much, but they have to charge more than the deck and charge annual pass holders because other wise AP holders would be smart and park at the hotel that's closer. I agree that guests should have a cheaper rate though. Even 5$ off a day adds up. And then someone said... "well make it accessible by room key only." Good idea but...
Room costs would still go up. It's the same battle we have with our rental homes and pool heat. Either charge everyone for it, or charge an additional fee for the people who want/need it. In their case they decided it's better to charge just the people who bring vehicles. It also makes people say "Okay we need to compact all of our stuff into 2 vehicles" rather than it not mattering and them bringing 4. I mean I hate the car fee as much as the next guy, but I just go ahead and figure it into my hotel costs. So instead of my room costing 215$ a night it's 235. That's all they would do if it they added it into the cost.

In my business we do a whole inclusive rate thing because it's the mind game of rentals. Its not that other hotels don't charge you for parking... it's just that you don't see it say "parking fee" you're paying for it in your rate. However, the loews hotels have to show you that you're being charged for it so that, like I said, you don't bring 6 vehicles and clog up their lots.

TL;DR answer. They're never not going to charge parking. There's a reason. It sucks. It's expensive. Budget for it.

Paying for parking stinks, but it is what it is. It is not some rare novelty.Lots of hotels do this. Try parking in NYC or Washhington DC overnight .It costed me $40 a night just to park the car.I knew this and budgeted for it . Lots of hotels do this when parking is at a premium.Disney charges, they just build it into the resort rates and everyone pays for it whether they use it or not and call it a "perk" of staying onsite

I can't remember exactly what it says on the back of the valet ticket but I think it's something like there's a fee for storage overnight and you're suppose to pick up your car by 2 am.

When I first got my AP I stayed onsite for the express but then when you go back so many times it's really not necessary unless you're going at peak season. The perk I really liked for staying onsite is the boats back to the hotel so you can have fun at citywalk.

There's a gate to get out of the on-site garage/lots. Fee is either charged to your room or you insert a CC in order to escape, no free ride for anyone. IMO the ala carte surcharge is fair @ Loews especially if it is a de-facto replacement of a resort fee that would be assessed to each room.

At most resorts on the 'rate' page (before booking) & then another disclaimer typically pops up before final payment. They make sure to CYA to list all general 'nuisance' charges to avoid being challenged by guests after booking, including parking & resort fees. Even third party opague sites such as hotwire list the resort fee on 1st page for each property.

I agree. I'm all for the hotels charging.. well not all for, I never LIKE to spend money. But I do know why they do it and they do throw it in your face as much as possible to try and make sure you know. Unfortunately I've seen lots of people saying "I DIDN'T KNOW!" .. Really guys? If I've learned anything from property management its that it doesnt matter how many times you tell them, it's never enough. SOMEONE will ALWAYS have SOMETHING to say about it! I could hand someone a hundred dollars for no reason and they'd find a reason to complain.... :lmao::confused3

But anyways, yes, I agree. A la carte makes the most sense for the loews resorts.

Unlike WDW, the parks and the hotels are owned separately, so revenue to the hotels isn't necessarily revenue to the parks and vice versa.

I've also read that parking at the resorts isn't even controlled by the resorts but is run by a completely separate company.

could be, disney subcontracted their valet services out several years ago.
