Is it weird to do character meets as an adult with no children?

We make it a point to go to at least one character meal every trip. We are a family of 5 (my kids are all 21+) My favorite meal ever has to be at Askerhaus - my hubby was surrounded by the princesses and they all called him the king... he ate it up! So funny and fun! The princesses carried on with the 'king' thing throughout our meal. I say you're never too old!

Hello! My husband and i are 31, he does not speak english, i try to say some words lol . We do not have kids. Still ,the character interactions are just great, i love them, characters always take their time with us (specially with me, because of my face lol ) We have done meals with characters in Disneyland and meet and greets in both DisneyWorld (twice there) and Disneyland (one visit). No bad comments from any parent or bad faces, and we are ecuadorian :D I always feel very happy in Disney and find very kind people. It´s my dream come true as my parents could not afford the trip when i was a child.

People who aren't huge Disney fans probably find it weird but whatever it's fun. I'm 25, and when making reservations told my boyfriend I really wanted to eat at Akershus Royal Banquet Princess Breakfast so I can meet the princesses :) And meeting Mickey is fun no matter the age. Life's short, you should do what you love.

I think it's weird, but, many people do not, so if that's what you want to do, just do it. You're there to have fun and if that is fun for you why would you care what everyone else thinks. It's their problem.

Just wondering if anyone on here goes to meet any of the characters in the parks without children. I haven't ever really done so myself but was thinking about it next time I go. The first time I went to WDW I was 19 so I've never really done any. Do you feel like you're being judged negatively for it? I did a quick search online which came up with a few blog posts from people saying its annoying and should be left for the kids. How were the interactions with the characters?

You're paying your admission just like everyone else. Do what you want to do.

I see nothing wrong with an adult who wants to meet and take pictures with the characters whether it's in the parks or at a character meal. Believe me I have done both and will continue to do them as I please. I never felt I was being judged by anyone but most likely I never really paid attention to others around me aside from me and the characters. I think Disney fans get it and accept it the rest can just suck it.

Hi. I have done character meets quite a few times and I'm an adult. The thing is I feel like a kid when at Disney so I say if you want to do character meets do so and enjoy yourself.

I've met dozens of characters as an adult, both on solo trips and on trips with other adults, and never felt awkward. I kinda think the face characters especially like having an adult to talk to sometimes. As a PP said, ask them about something in their movie/show/whatever as an ice breaker and they will chat away with you! One solo trip I did every character at MVMCP at least once and had wonderful interactions with all of them. I will say that Jack Sparrow was the best as he spent 10 minutes with me and told me all about how Raja had chased him around for trying to "borrow" one of Jasmine's jewels, complete with running around and showing me how he got away. I even met Anna and Elsa last year as an adult and they were wonderful. Don't feel awkward about meeting the characters, have fun with them!

I've done meet & greets a few times solo. I'm not always in the mood for them, usually don't feel like waiting in line & am more interested in the attractions & shows.

I never had a bad experience with the characters or with others in line.

If you're feeling a little weird about it or shy, try the Epcot character spot in Innoventions West in Future World since it's in a private room with just you & the characters. That was the best interaction I've had when I did it a couple years ago & met Mickey & Goofy. :)

Are you kidding me? Why should the kids have all the fun. Several years ago I was there for my 60th Birthday and my wife mentioned to our waiter that is was my birthday. Ten minutes later they announce a special boy is celebrating his 60th Birthday and all of the characters came over and got me out of may seat and around the restaurant we went, my own little parade. We go to the Cinderella dinner at the Grand Floridian and I love getting in on with the wicked stepsisters and "Mom" as I always call her. Tusker House, Chef Mickeys, Whispering Canyon, all great places to let loose of your age and have fun like a kid. Don't let age dictate your fun, let go of those inhibitions and have a great time. Isn't that what you as an adult went there for in the first place? Last year for our 41st Wedding Anniversary my wife and I were standing in line to catch the bus to the MK. A young couple with their two kids congratulated us for coming to Disney 41 times. After we corrected them and told them it was our wedding anniversary the girl asked me "at your age, just what do you guys do down here?" I replied, everything you do but without the kids. We convinced them that they were really going to enjoy coming down to Disney when they got older.

This is one of the few things that I've hung back from on solo trips, but all these comments are really encouraging! I still remember a random hug I got from Ballou over by Splash one time years ago (no one around, no line)...Those characters sure know how to give a great hug! I once stood watching the very little ones getting hugs from Mickey's teddy bear at Epcot (what's he called?)-- it was so darn sweet. I should have joined them!

A bit different, but I've had loads of fun on solo trips during Star Wars Weekends, interacting with bounty hunters, Jawas, storm troopers (I spanked one once), etc. It's not about hugs...but they'll sure chase you around! Super fun. And trading with Jawas! I gave one a Slim Jim and I got a stupid plastic dinosaur, which I still have. You're not trading with a Jawa properly if you don't come away feeling a little ripped off. Love!

When I went to Disney last fall with a friend we hadn't intended on doing any character greets. Then the line for Ariel was 5 minutes the first night and we decided, why not? After we had fun with that it became all about meeting characters. My favorite character to meet then was Belle in Epcot. I was celebrating my birthday and she started helping me plan my party at the Beast's castle (the best part was we had reservations at BOG that evening and were just hopping through EPCOT on our way to MK from HS - but Belle didn't know this when she started planning the party).

Chip and Dale are also a very fun meet I think.

I don't have kids and that's at the top of my list; meeting the characters. I mean, are you truly a certain age at Disney??? I thought everyone is a kid there anyways. I'm not gonna pass doing things because I don't have children.

I agree with everyone, I'm 28 and I LOVE meeting the characters! It's half the fun for me at Disney! And I'll agree that the non-face characters are the most fun because they mime and "converse" with you if they see you're interested. On one trip my sister saw stitch walking away in Epcot and she RAN after him like her life depended on it. The character attendant was a little thrown by it, but when we all caught up she was out of breath but I told Stitch that he was her absolute favorite character and she had been waiting months to see him. Boy did he like that! It turned into the best character experience of the trip. He danced with her, "ate" her autograph book, drew horns on a mickey picture that was in it, played guitar like Elvis and made kissing sounds when he hugged her. She left saying "Wow... I feel like I'm 8... but that was AWESOME!" :goodvibes

Characters don't care how old you are! As long as you're having a good time that's all that matters!

I love character meets and spend a ridiculous amount of time in those lines (no need to talk about how long I spent in the Luke/Leia line during SWW). I'm pretty sure that the characters like having more ~grown up~ conversation. Tiana and Naveen are especially great about that.

Fur characters are great to interact with, especially if you are good at understanding their miming. I've had full on conversations with characters that don't speak.

I also know some character friends, and they love meeting with adults, and especially love meeting multiple times. Don't ever feel weird about something you enjoy

I'm 28 years old, no kids, and do them ALL the time with friends my age. It's a ton of fun, and they tend to be a little funnier with adults because, well, we get the humor!

I love having my photo made with the characters. I don't think you can ever outgrow that feeling of being a little kid at Disney, even when you're a big kid paying the bills.
