Deluxe for two nights - which one?

Can't go wrong with either resort. Love them both. All Disney resorts have the usual activities. And some that are unique to that resort. Poly has hula lessons in the afternoon.
You have easy access to MK and Epcot at Poly, and being on monorai easy access to all dining options in MK resorts.
And watching Wishes & Electric Waper Parade from beach.

At BC, you have a great pool complex and great dining options being able to walk to all the Epcot resorts. And walk to Epcot and boat to DHS.

But swimming in January can be iffy. The weather is so unpredictable. It can be warm and sunny, or freezing, often in the same trip.

I could spend all day floating in the lazy river at the Beach Club! The Storm Along Bay pools are so fun, the atmosphere at the Beach Club is so relaxed I think it will be a great fit for your family. You don't need to go to the parks and there are a few great casual places to eat. Our favorite evening activity when staying in the Epcot Resort Area is to stroll the Boardwalk - people watch, enjoy the entertainers, shop and eat Boardwalk food. Yes - good ol' fried mac n cheese bites or sausage and pepper grinders, stop for an ice cream or get treats at the candy shop. The kids love the Boardwalk pizza window too. If you're feeling adventurous you can rent a surrey bike and ride around Crescent Lake - very fun and wow what a great leg workout! Roasting marshmallows on the beach and stopping to watch a movie on the beach are fun activiites too. The Beach Club has all of these great nooks to explore (the Solarium) where you feel like you have a special place at Disney all to yourself! The Captain's Grille has a good breakfast buffet that seems to be an undiscovered gem as it is so quiet there in the morning. We have had fun dinners at ESPN Club and the Big River Grille and Brewing Works. One last thing - you can see high fireworks from Wishes and Illuminations if you find yourself out and about at the right time walking around Crescent Lake. Enjoy making your decision!

I enjoyed the pool. It was relaxing and plenty big enough for the amount of people that were there. We were not with any kids that trip so I am not really sure at the activities for them. Last July we stay at Kidani and loved that resort as well. Walking up and having a coffee as I watched the animals outside my room was awesome. The pool was alright but a bit crowded when we were there. They did have things going on for the kids but we did not attend any other the things offered since they just wanted to hang at the pool. I felt like this resort was more laid back and a place that I could hang out for the day. The only issue I really had with it was how spread out it was. It seemed like everything was at the far end of the resort. We had a 5th floor room all the way at the other side of the resort compared to where the pool was.
Just stayed at the poly. Loved it!! Pool was awesome. Monorail is great because if it's raining you can ride around to the other resorts for shopping or dessert! Lobby is also a great place to relax with a cup of coffee! You can watch wishes from the dock too!

I vote for WL.

Stayed there many times and love it. Fun place to relax and just a quick boat ride to MK. Also, you're in close proximity to GF, Contemporary, and Poly to visit.

Also, it's a quiet place it seems. Nice place to unwind and get out of the hustle and bustle of the parks. Peaceful.

Plus I love the boats, trails, and pool!

It's also one of the lesser expensive Deluxes I've noticed

Hula lessons sound like fun! We are from the north - we swim with Polar bears LOL! Ok that may be a stretch but I will go in the water at much colder temperatures than most so unless its really pouring I'll be swimming at the price I'll be paying!

I do like the idea of resort hoping! I didn't think of that.

It would have been on my list (was originally) but a couple people from our group were booked there and Disney moved them due to refurbs so the timing doesn't work :(

Poly and BC are my 2 favorite resorts....normally I've been giving the edge to Poly lately; however, in your particular situation (2 nights/a lot of resort time/1st night ADR at Cape May....), I'd go with BC. It seems to fit your situation perfectly. I think there are more things to do in the BC resort area given that you have the boardwalk right there (entertainment, ESPN Club, surrey bike rental) and also a short walk away from mini golf. Whether you go into Epcot or not, you can watch Illuminations fireworks from various parts of the boardwalk/international gateway area.

We have stayed at both the Yacht Club and Poly and found them both to be fantastic choices for a deluxe hotel experience.
Beach club renovations will be completed by the middle of this month and the Poly will have ongoing construction until early 2016.

We stayed at Poly this past January while they were renovating the main pool and were finishing the bungalows. Some of the walkways were closed and re routed and there was construction machinery in view of the room we were in (Club level in the Hawaii) BUT it was still a beautiful hotel and the views of the MK are fantastic.
The main pool has since reopened, and work on the bungalows are completed, but there is still a lot of construction happening. You may want to skip the Poly for this reason.

We recently were at the Yacht club and really enjoyed the SAB (this was our 4th time at this hotel) and love walking around the Lake. We also enjoy being so close to EPCOT! We stayed club level there too and had a great view of the lagoon and pool.

Have a fantastic time :)

Is there much difference between the Yacht Club and Beach Club resort wise?

BLT! Walking distance to Magic is everything for us

That does sound awesome - we were at AKL last time and while I didn't mind the bus I would much rather have just walked to MK!!

We've stayed at several deluxe resorts, the Poly, WL, GF and the BC. The Poly by far is our favorite for multiple reasons. The most relaxing in a place that's nothing but hectic. The Monorail; the easy walk and access to the TTC for the EPCOT Monorail; large rooms; Electrical Parade; MK fireworks; the lush tropical atmosphere around the pool and the easy monorail ride to and walk back from the best dining at the GF - Narcoossees and Citricos. The Poly is just a notch above the rest in my opinion.

I haven't stayed at the Poly. But for us, the Epcot resort area wins hands down. SAB is awesome, but the Boardwalk area and proximity to Epcot (our favorite) and HS puts it over the top.

Everytime I read a post from someone who likes Poly I think yup it's Poly for sure and then I read a post about Beach Club and I think yup it's definitely Beach Club and now I'm even thinking yup it's GF! It sounds like no matter which one I choose I will be happy - what a great problem to have!! I think I'll wait and see (translation stalk the Dis until something is announced!) what kind of discounts are offered because even with a discount Poly may still be out of reach for us so that may end up being the determining factor.

I does feel like the BC is the right choice for this trip. I do LOVE the look and feel of Poly though! Normally MK would be a huge draw and I admit it is still pulling me towards Poly sometimes but I do think if I splurge for the two nights I will want to do more resort than park time. We are not really ride people so it's unlikely we could do 7 days straight of the parks so I'm pretty sure we'll be mostly relaxing and exploring.

The Yacht Club is the same feeling as the Beach Club and they share SAB. It is a closer walk to EPCOT though from BC (not by much) We keep saying we will try the BC next time, but we always end up at YC. lol

We have also stayed at FWL, the Cabins at Fort Wilderness, Coronado Springs and GF. I keep trying to get into the CTR but so far the timing has not been right.

Personally, I would choose YC or BC because of the casual and relaxed atmosphere, the entertainment of the boardwalk and the closeness to EPCOT and even HS.

The Poly was lovely, and I know there are lots of fans who go back every year and love it, :) but for us, it just wasn't what we prefer in a hotel.

Not much difference between YC and BC other than the theme, for the most part. They share all amenities. BC has Cape May, which can make the lobby busier at breakfast and dinner time. Some people say YC has a more "upscale" or even "stuffy" feeling, but we didn't get that at all when we stayed. More quietly elegant, but still very kid friendly. The other main difference between YC and BC is that almost all YC rooms have full balconies; about half the BC rooms only have Juliet or standing balconies. That may or may not impact your decision. There is lots of really good info on the BC/YC thread here, so that would be a good thing to check out if you end up choosing to stay there. Good luck with your choice! :)

Which park is your fave? Walking into Epcot and HS is so nice from BC! The atmosphere is really fun at both so I would also think about what to do when parks close (January won't have many late nites). At Poly you can visit monorail resorts. At BC you can walk the boardwalk. For us swimming at night in January probably wouldn't work but if that works for you BC pool is wonderful. Have fun!

Good question. How much of the resorts flavor can you taste when there for two days?

Given your LOVE of the pool, I would choose Beach Club. No other way to use the pool than stay there as pool hopping is not allowed to Beach Club. They have activities, they are close to parks but a wonderful place to hang. It is our favorite place to stay.

We just stayed three nights at Yacht Club as part of our 14 night/4 resort stay. yC was my hands down favorite.

Certainly not as much as I want to but we'll spend half a day or so at a park on Thursday then check into the hotel and most likely wouldn't leave the resort area until we head to the airport on Saturday so we'll have a full day and a half at the resort.

I'm not sure I have a favorite because we've only been once and haven't even been to Epcot yet! We did 2 days at MK and one each at AK and HS. I loved them all!

I think I'd prefer to walk the boardwalk than tour the other resorts. It sounds like it's more up our alley.

Wow 14 nights! That must have been awesome to try all those resorts. I'm not sure I could do 14 days straight though. Last trip we did 2 days sea world, 1 day discovery cove, 4 days wdw and a 4 night cruise. We were exhausted by the time we got on the cruise!

I really do love the thought of the pool! I go to our local pool every week day morning - such a great way to start the day. I really think I should have been a mermaid lol

I think the BC would be perfect for your family. The pool is the best, and I think it is the best location with it being walking distance to 4 other hotels. There are so many casual dining options for you-the marketplace, beaches and cream, food carts on the boardwalk, cape may buffet, and even the restaurants in the swan and dolphin.

I was waiting for someone to mention mini golf! We always walk over for a game!

A decent room only discount you say?... May not want to become set on a specific resort. This last round of discounts BC was only discounted 10%. Yeah, why did they even bother? YC was discounted 20%- but will be starting its own round of refurbishments. Also the reports on the fall discount watch thread have been that there was basically zero availability at Poly for this coming late fall season. I don't know how that will translate come January. Maybe get together a list of a few deluxes you are interested in checking out but don't fall in love with any of them until the discounts come out and you know what is available and what is in budget.
