festival of Fantasy Parade

Would appreciate an updated view of using FP+ for parade viewing, but last summer I found it was not worth it at all, because we found the FP+ viewing area behaved just like all other areas of the parade route. Get there early if you want a good spot. People crowding in your area and trying to get their kinds in front of you. If you wanted to be curbside with an unobstructed view you needed to be inside the area the same time ahead as for any other spot on the route. So, waste of a FP+ in my opinion.

Hi Jay and Family
JMHO
With a family of five including Grandma and Grandpa I would consider FP+ it.
It sounds like you are going in March/April which can be busy Spring Break/Easter times,I know some days have added a 12:00 pm Festival Of Fantasy Parade.
I am however a get up early (rope drop) ,use Extra Magic Hours ( EMH) type of person. My Magic Kingdom (MK) day starts at 6:45 am.
I am usually ready for lunch at 11:30 am and then heading out of the park by 12:30.
I return around 8:00 pm. for a few rides and then go to the Wishes Dessert Party.
I have booked a FP+ for Festival Of fantasy 12:00 show this March break.

*** I have once experienced a "drunk ,obnoxious, foul mouthed, physically aggressive, "person" during a parade
which almost ruined my love of Magic Kingdom ,therefore I try to find other ways to see fireworks and parades.***

Best wishes to you and your family and have a wonderful trip.
Hugs Mel
we are going in june. we have ADR for crystal palace at 8am and then we have dinner at CRT at 525pm. it is going to be a long day so I thought just sitting there for an hour or so during the parade it would be a little break and go from there. I have been hearing it is a good time 1st thing to go on a few of the bigger rides in the early AM and fast pass things in the afternoon. This trip is hard to plan fast pass since it is our sons 1st time being there. I know he wants to meet everyone and get there autographs. So that is going to the bigger thrill for us and for our son.

It depends. If you can stake out a prime viewing spot along the parade route early then forgo the FP. If you are like me, and want to be doing things up until the parade, then get a FP. We used the FP to get a great spot in the hub at only fifteen minutes before the parade. It was worth using the FP. We also got a FP to MSEP that night too. The CM at the gate remembered us from both parades. We got a little pixie dust that trip.

Can you tell me where the FP+ viewing are is? My DD's marching band is playing in the parade during Spring Break, so we thought we might use a FP+ to guarantee a good viewing spot. However, I need to determine which side of the street it is on, and which side of the band she marches.

TIA

When we went in December it was at the hub, but I remember people saying they were testing a FP location in town square because of all the construction at the hub.

Current FP+ parade-viewing is in the Town Square Plaza (location of the MK flagpole.)

The parade route goes almost entirely around (encircles) the plaza.

Thanks. I guess I need to determine which side of the parade she is marching to determine if this FP+ is worth it.

You're on me today, aren't you? I gave up absolute answers long ago here--there's always an exception! :goodvibes

Lol Love the banter! :chat: @mesaboy2 and @Robo

I agree that as experienced at you are in offering Disney advice, it's wise to play it safe with your comments...generally speaking of course. ;) There will always be that one exception to the rule and BOOM!, you're discredited and the 999,999 other helpful bits of advice are thought of no more.

Now then, assuming you both know what you're talking about, ;) can you answer this question? In which direction does ths parade travel? And while I have you here...what about the nighttime parade? I've heard the MSEP goes in both directions, but if so, when and how do you know in advance? (Can you tell I'm very inexperienced in all things Disney?)

I don't think its worth it - mainly because the viewing area is right out in the sun with no shade at all. We were there beginning of April and it was already pretty hot and we would not have survived the parade in the sun. There are lots of places in Frontireland and Liberty Square where you can get very good spots in the shade and even with places to sit while you wait. Its much more comfortable. We usually have one or two adults stake out a spot and another takes the kids to see country bears during the wait.

OK, this is coming from a different source, but I do hope it helps.

The Festival of Fantasy Parade starts in Frontierland, reaching Town Hall Square about 20 minutes later. The Main Street Electrical Parade starts in Town Hall Square and ends in Frontierland. I have never seen either go the opposite way (and I am looney tunes for the Main Street Electrical Parade and will watch both showings of an evening, both starting and ending as above), but I guess there is always a first time for everything popcorn::

How long does it take for the parade to reach the castle from where it starts and how long does it last for?

Is the hub work done now? I was wondering if the FP Festival of Fantasy Parade viewing area is back to the hub now or is it remaining at Town Sq?

1. No.
2. No.
3. Nobody knows.

Are rehabs ever truly done at Disneyworld? Let's face it, the crane is up more than down at the castle...
