twinkybel81 & workmantm's Wishes VR 12.06.16 Japan/ADH/Lochside UPDATE 11/23 Two Weeks Out!

That is so great that you booked a cinematographer and that you are so excited about it. I think that it is a great thing. You will be able to watch the video of your big day for years to come. I am so happy for you. :dogdance:

Thanks! I keep making excuses to watch his videos again. ;-)

So we've reached our 16 month out point (again) so we shot off an email to our consultant Sunday evening to get penciled in for our venues. Haven't heard anything back yet, and she only works M, W, F, so the earliest we will hear back is tomorrow.

In other, Disney but not wedding related news, we booked our flights for our trip this December and set up DME!! :cheer2: And we've firmed up our photo shoot days, times, and locations with both sets of photographers. :-)

We are officially penciled in with DFTW for our 2016 date!!! :cool1: We also got penciled in with one of our two prospective photographers (still have to email the second to get penciled in with them). As of right now, no one else wants our date & locations, and I'm really hoping it stays that way (though we have a long way to go still and anything can happen).

The other thing I am really excited about is that we were able to purchase more DVC points (we are owners at AKV Kidani Village), and we now will have more than enough to provide accommodations for our wedding party, some of our family members who aren't in the wedding party, ourselves (and likely club level for us for the length of the stay, pending availability of course!!!) and a separate 2BR lockoff for getting ready, so that the photographers & cinematographers don't have to run back and forth all over the place.

One step closer!!! :tink:

Hooray for being penciled in!!! :cheer2:

That's great that you were able to purchase more DVC points. One thing that I wish we had been able to do was provide accommodations for our immediate family and wedding party. It will hopefully make everything go even more smoothly for you to have everyone at the same place! :)

Thanks!!! We will still need to do a room block, but if everything goes as planned with the DVC nights, we will only be 1 shy of getting our free night (before any other guests book)!!! :thumbsup2

Congrats on getting penciled in!! It's so exciting! That's wonderful you were able to get more DVC points, if you're putting everyone at the same hotel that will just be so much fun for you all!

Thanks! My main concern was to make sure the wedding party was all in one place so no one has to try and travel between resorts at o'dark thirty for a 4-4:30am call time.

Just have to remember to request that my MIL is in a room far far away from ours! ;)

I got the email sent off to the second potential photographer about getting us penciled in for next year, so we shall see what they say.

The other thing I am not sure if I should do yet or wait a bit is contacting the hair & makeup artist I am interested in using. Her website says that they book up to a year and a half out (which we are within that time frame), but the reason I am hesitant is that I have no idea how many services I will need. I have a friend who used to do makeup professionally, and I have already spoken to her about coming out to do my makeup and be a guest at the wedding, which she is totally up for, but not sure if she will be able to commit due to life circumstances. That means I don't know if I will just need hair, or both hair and makeup for me. I haven't yet asked my Mom or MOHs (there are two) if they will be interested in having hair and/or makeup done, and I am afraid that if I ask them right now, they will not have an answer and tell me it's too early to think about. Also not sure whether I want to pay for any of their services as a gift or not (haven't quite gotten as far as figuring out what all I want to do for gifts other than their accommodations). So I guess I feel like I don't have enough information gathered to contact the artist yet, but I am afraid if I wait too long, someone else will request my date. What do you think I should do? Contact her to check on the date now or wait until I have slightly firmer information to present to her? Thanks for your help!!

Yay! Isn't it great getting penciled in, confirmed, people hired/deposits down. Starting to feel real now?

I'm using Randy Chapman & Stan Severance at STVS video. And Tim Herring as our officiant. What I did was email them around my pencil in date just to see if they were open.
All of them said yes, so far. And since yesterday was my confirmation date, I followed up with them again to make sure they were still open, they were and I've now sent in my deposits for Randy & Stan.
I haven't for Rev Herring yet, because I would like to meet him in October if I can, just to make sure there's a "connection". Or at least talk on the phone. I've met Randy & Stan before at my girlfriends Disney wedding.
But she used sadly, Rev Jack Day (this still makes me sad). Otherwise I would have used him because I loved his personality.

With your hair stuff, my girlfriend paid for all of ours as a gift. But you're already paying for their accommodations, that to me is a great gift already. If I were in your party, I'd pay for my own hair & makeup since you were covering my room stay. That's super generous. but everyone is different. I don't think it would hurt to contact the artist, give them a tentative head count, ask if they can modify it later if things change. And find out if they require a certain deposit too.
I'm sure they would be willing to work with you.

Things are definitely starting to feel for real now, but I'm still not letting myself get too excited yet, we still have a long time to go. We have paid in full for our cinematographer, but won't put anything down for a photographer until after our family photo shoots this December (is it abd that I'm already mentally working on outfits for these shoots?), and as far as an officiant goes, our plan is to use a personal friend of ours who is already ordained (he loves Disney and also happens to work for them and I've known him for over half my life now!). We've already chatted with him about it a bit and he's game as long as he can make it work with his work schedule (he is a higher level executive and travels a lot for the company), so I sent him a message just this morning to give him the date that we are penciled in for with DFTW so that he could pencil it in as well and keep it in mind. Hopefully I will get some kind of response from him.

Hope everything clicks with Rev Herring for you!

I'm going to update on the MUAH topic in a bit, so stay tuned!

Here's and update on the Hair & MUA situation:

I went ahead and emailed the artist I am interested in and told her our dates and that I am currently unsure of the number of services that I will end up needing. She responded almost immediately (gold star for her!!!) with her pricing breakdown for the various services she offers, travel fees, early morning fees, etc, which I find incredibly helpful to have actual numbers in front of me to work from (like I know now that I would need to book 3 services to make it seem worth it to me to have her come out, since I will be paying $150 in travel/early morning fees on top of any services rendered). I then texted my Mom and both MOHs asking if they had any interest in having professional hair and/or makeup done for the wedding. Mom said yes, as long as she's allowed to nix anything she doesn't like, and I told her of course she's allowed to and let her know that she can bring inspiration pictures and tell them what she does/doesn't want. MOH 2 said potentially yes, but it would depend on cost, so I gave her the basic prices and she seemed to think they were reasonable, so I think she is definitely interested. MOH 1 just responded with "ok" so I'm still unsure on her.

I also contacted my friend the MUA to see if she was still interested in coming out for the wedding and for doing our makeup, since it had been awhile since we have spoken about it, and I got an excited yes! in response. :cheer2:

I sent a follow up email to the Florida artist to see how she handles booking contracts before having firm dates, so we will see what she has to say.

With all of the above in mind, here's what I'm thinking:

Option 1) If my friend the MUA comes out, I will have her do everyone's makeup and I will pay for myself, my MOHs, and my Mom to get our hair done.

Option 2) If my friend isn't able to come out, I will probably pay to have hair & makeup done for myself, and then offer to pay for one service of their choosing each for my MOHs and Mom, and if they want the other service, they will need to pay for it themselves.

Either option would likely end up being their main gift from me. I will be asking them to pay for their own attire/accessories and such, and obviously pay for their own travel/food/etc, and since we are using DVC points to cover their accommodations, it isn't really $ out of pocket, so I can afford to do a little something else for them.

Option 1 is what I'm hoping for the most, but since it's still early, I'm trying not to get my heart set on any one plan just yet. :goodvibes

Just a quick update, nothing too exciting though. I had decided that I wanted to get a zippered binder to keep all the wedding planning documents in a centralized place, and I prefer to still have things hard copy rather than all digital. I look at Target the other day and wasn't thrilled with the prices and they didn't have any with D-rings, which are my preference, so I didn't purchase anything. Last night The Husband and I made a quick run to Costco right before closing to look at something and we ended up finding exactly what I wanted, and it was only $12.99 + tax!!! It has so many pockets and dividers, etc, that it will likely end up being more than what I needed for the job, but I'm pleased nonetheless. Here are a couple photos just because:

Sorry the pictures ended up posting so big.

The other thing I am excited about is I've been inspired for what to do for my shoes!!! Obviously I will need to wait until I have a dress before I make a final decision, but I'm pretty excited about it overall! Probably my biggest hesitation about my idea is that my toenails wouldn't end up showing at all (which is something I like to do generally), but it would also likely end up being a much more comfortable option and would be shoes I'd definitely use again after the wedding, which I'm pretty set on that as a requirement, no matter which direction I end up going. I figure if I'm going to spend any amount of money on a pair of shoes, I don't want them to a one hit wonder, know what I mean?

Also, finally heard back from the second prospective photographer and they have penciled us in for next year. :)

Not really wedding related, but we are officially in the double digit countdown for our December trip to the World!!! Woooohooooo! pixiedust::cool1::bounce::dancer:

99 days 0 hours 52 minutes 49 seconds and counting, according to my countdown app. ;)

So in case anyone was wondering what my shoe inspiration is, you're in luck!!!!

I've wanted a pair of these shoes since I was in high school (a long long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away), so I'd be tickled to finally have a reason to spend money on them:

And then I would wear something along these lines with them, firstly because I love stripes and secondly because it would be a nod to Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas, which is one of our themes:
