Watching for BOG Breakfast to be Extended-Now Open :)

I didn't get an 8 am on the day I wanted. After stalking the Disney site and this site for days, I foolishly believed the Aug 5 advice and decided to go technology free when I was out with my family. Grrr... I did get a time, but not an early one. I am annoyed, but I can't complain b/c I do have a lunch, so I will just have to be happy. :)

However, I did look at several different dates in October and December just out of curiousity. Even on Christmas, there is still breakfast availability! I am starting to worry that November after Veteran's Day and before Thanksgiving is going to be very busy. What do you guys think?

We got two 8:10 breakfasts for both our MK days, but I was curious as to how people were able to select a time earlier than 8 am from the drop down menu? A couple of people mentioned selecting 6:30 am from the drop down menu. (I realize the earliest ADR anyone could actually book was 8:05 am, but just wondered why we would see different time selections from the drop down menu. Seems odd since the restaurant doesn't open until 8 am)

On the phone app you can check earlier times such as 6:30 but on the website 8:00 is the earliest you can choose. Of course even though you select 6:30 you won't get that time, I think it's just a default time.

That makes sense! Thanks for the clarification. : )

Because it's free dining

Were you responding to my message? I know that week in November is likely booking a lot of ADRs b/c it is free dining, but what I should have said before was that I checked other free dining dates in October and December and they had a lot more availability than November. Obviously the dates without free dining, it would make more sense to have more openings.

I can't believe the lack of available ADRs for week of 11/16! I know it's free dining but I agree I've checked other dates that are FD And there's much more available. Def freaking me out as I picked that week for the low crowds. And I booked after 180 days and have had a hard time getting decent ADRs :(.

We also chose that week for the same reason along with it being a time that worked out for our family. I got a few ADRs we wanted at 180 days, but would like to change the time on one and book a couple more with no luck so far. We are staying DVC and not participating in free dining. Maybe they will all be so busy eating that the parks will be less crowded. :)

Someone posted earlier that they have two ADRs - waiting on friends to decide which time works better. Is this the norm? Multiple bookings until people decide?

Yes, completely normal. Most will cancel their extra reservations after finalizing their fastpasses. The rest dump the extra reservations a week or two before their trip. If you can't find something, just keep checking. Things open all the time.

After the recent mass availability of ADRs for previously "booked up" restaurants for November, I think the theory was that Disney had simply staffed those restaurants low going in and offered ADRs accordingly. Then they came back and added staff as well as ADRs to a normal level. Was it an experiment on the bean counters part and they really understaffed at first to see if they could get away with it, or did they staff to what they normally see at a low November time and were surprised at demand? Are they trying to discourage people getting full use of discounted dining? Or are they experimenting with rolling out ADR availability in waves to help out late bookers and discourage people hoarding ADRs they'll just cancel (it does seem strange to have dining booked so far out from FP+ windows). Who knows. But I think that dumping of ADRs into the system means more deliberation/experimentation on Disney's part than huge crowds eating up ADRs.

I think you're not going to see an insane crowd level, just more people jumping on free dining and being aware of the need to book early. Though, yes, I think crowds will be higher than previous year's because that's just the way it is now.

I think there's a lot of rolling out on Disney's part. They definitely do it with room discounts. Typically the military discounts are out the longest, then they release general discounts, then at like the three month mark they release Florida/AP discounts. Not the exact situation granted, but an example of Disney using progressive roll outs to manage demand.

Missed it as I was camping for the long weekend with no reliable internet connection :(. Figures the weekend I leave...congrats to the rest of you though!

What day are you trying for?

If you're go to the "make reservations" link on the site instead of to the BOG page, it lets you pick times starting at 6:30. It's the same on the app - if you do the plus sign and then the knife and fork to get to making reservations, you can select the earlier time.

There are still lots of 8:10 and 8:15 times for the dates of my trip (12/16-12/21). I grabbed two yesterday but am still seeing lots of availability. Of course, they'll be less appealing if they change the park openings to 8 AM (as they likely will). Wish they were offering 7 AM times.

Of all the weeks that just opened from Oct 4th through the end of January, that particular week booked up first and it went within a few hours. Based on the lack of availability at several restaurants, I'd say to expect higher than normal crowds for sure. Much higher. Sadly, down times exist no more.

We were able to get the 8:25 I mentioned earlier for 11/10 then changed it to 8:20 on 11/8. I would have figured the weeks on either side of 11/16 would be busier between Wine & Dine/Veteran's Day the week before and Thanksgiving the week after. You'd think 11/16 would be just about the lightest week in November.

Does anyone think they will release more times today (August 5) as stated on the Disney blog and by CM's? Checked at midnight EST and nothing yet. Will wake up for 6:00 EST to check again
