On the app when you research a site is says either left or right side. Does the left side mean the inside of the loop and the right are the outer sites in the loop?

Has any one stayed in 831, 847,864 or 919?

All those sites are on the outside of their loops. Don't know anything about the app.

PS - I would caution you about putting too much into specific sites even if you are considering 4 different ones. They might have someone on them the day you arrive. There are no "bad" sites at the Fort - but it is true that some are "gooder" than others....

I now what app you are talking about because I have it too. I'm not at all sure about this but I THINK the loops are all one direction for driving and whether the site is on the left or right means on the left or right from the road because you can only be going one way.

What is the name of this ap? I couldn't find it in the Apple Store "search" bar.

Tami,
it's opinionated and really depends on what you are camping in. It lists site 420 as easy backin but with my 35 foot bumper pull it was not easy at all. Someone in a smaller camper or 5th wheel might have it easy.

It really depends on what ya got.

Like Ed said, there are no bad ones.

Tami,

You pointed out a key factor about sites that I liked. In all the times I've been to the Fort in the last 10 years, I can recall only one INSIDE site I've had. I like the OUTSIDE sites for the reason you said. The back end of the site opens up wider and feels less closed in than the front end at the road. So I am with you on preferring an outside site (900 is my preferred Premium loop when I am in a Premium mood - got bumped to 400 once but I had not booked a Premium that time). When I want a Premium, I try to get 900 personally.

I don't have the app but I'm know that it's out there based on the posts we've gotten over the years. As tiggerdad correctly says, there is a lot of subjectivity in it. Whether a site is easy to back into (or not) depends on the size of one's rig, tow vehicle, and the experience of the driver. There also could be a yahoo in the site across from you with his truck halfway into the road who is making it difficult to turn and back into the site to spot your unit (he's in line at DHS for Rock 'n Roller Coaster and won't be back at his site for hours to move his truck for you).

Also the app causes a lot of unnecessary anxiety for folks who think one site is ABSOLUTELY better than another. We've all seen the posts about how to request a loop (easy now with MDE) but the app causes people to ask how to reserve specific sites. You have some experience at the Fort so I didn't get that vibe from you. The app is of limited use since you don't know the site you will get until you've checked in and are driving down to it. It is useful as a general resource and when one gets a Fort itch, it's one way to scratch it. But I feel sorry for the people who get their hearts set on a specific site (for whatever reason) and more often that not don't get it.

A Disney vacation can be stressful enough and there shouldn't be anxiety over specific sites. The Fort is a place to relax and enjoy.

It sounds like you're doing the same thing I do - I have a requested loop and a few favorite sites I would like to try to get. But my list is short - maybe 2 in the requested loop and then general from there (outside? near a comfort station? what loop?)

Have fun on your upcoming trip you must be planning. :surfweb:

This happened to us our "First" visit to the Fort. We didn't try to check-in early but wanted to make the best of the day, so we went to Sea World as they could accommodate our parking of the truck with the RV. When we did check-in, it was evening (not real late but dark. I think about 730 or 8.) and there were a lot of vehicles parked out side of their sites making it difficult to back in my 27' TT. We did finally get it in, but it could have been easier had the others followed the rules.

Bama is right. Location is more important than a particular site. We have had sites on both ends on 700. The low numbers are a block from the Meadows, Meadows pool, Chip and Dales's Movie and a bus stop. Also across the street and a short walk to a comfort station.
The high numbers in loop 700 are across the street from the settlement, the boat dock, Crockett's Tavern (rocking chairs and feet on the rail) and Hoop-Dee-Doo revue. 700 is a pet loop and a short walk to the pet park.
The sites were pretty much the same size, one had more trees. That being said and agreeing with Bama and Tiggerdad, ask for a location that is close to your interest.

As far as the APP goes, it will help you in requesting a sight, but there is no guarantee you will get what you want. If you are willing to move in a day or two, you can sometimes get your fav spot after someone checks out. I have done this a couple of times. It is a pain, but I think worth it.

We have stayed in different spots that were "just fine", but once had a spot that was a real PITA to back into. I am a Mom with 4 sons in a 2011 F350 SuperDuty, pulling a 2011 34'6" FW. It was about 5 or 6pm (after driving 2 days) when we pulled in, and the loop was pretty full. I must mention we were there for MNSSHP and the F&W Fest.

The loop where they put us was next to impossible for me to back my rig into, and I do not usually have problems backing - I am a 2 shot wonder! It was an inside site in the 1300 loop and that is probably fine for any unit less than about 28', but the way it curves there is no easy way for a large rig to back into an interior spot when there are vehicles parked all the way to the road on both sides. It is a pretty good 100 angle backing.

Unfortunately we had a problem with our FW and had to take it in for service so I inquired if I could move to my FAV spot and luckily it was just vacated so we moved. BTW, I will just say my favorite loops are the 400 and 500 because they are so close to the boat dock. We came home late every night MK was having EMH.

But like all these folks are saying it all depends on what you are pulling and what your wants and needs are. We never took the DW buses to the other park, we drove the truck for flexibility, so being near the dock was great for us. We also never use the pool or bath facilities, so again they are moot points for us.

Good luck with you trip, hope you get "just the right spot" that works for you.

Moring all, I just tried to load this app and it says that it isn't available for US stores at the App Store )-:

My husband and I both downloaded the app yesterday. He has iPhone and I have android. It's good to see pictures of each site.

1) Alas, there is far too much stress over individual sites.
2) There are really no bad ones.

1) Alas, there is far too much stress over individual sites.
True. Our only stress over individual sites are if we get what we paid for. Our first visit to the Fort, we booked a "Premium" but got a "Preferred" When we arrived (and paid our balance upon arrival) the balance due was lower then what we expected. It was also later in the evening and getting dark. Not knowing what to expect, we parked our camper and settled in for the night. Next day we were walking around and realized that our grill and picnic table didn't seem to be the "Upgraded" versions as was advertised for the premium sites. When we inquired at the front desk, we were told that we were switch per OUR request (which was not the case).

Anyway, long story short, we got free tickets for the Luau for our family of 4 for our inconvenience.

2) There are really no bad ones.
From what I have seen, I totally agree with this. In the comment to your #1, we ended up staying on the "Preferred" site and it was nice. After all we weren't really there for the "Grill" or the "Picnic Table".

The only real issues I think with the sites are if your particular camper/equipment will fit on the site and/or your desire for proximity to various offerings (Outpost, Settlement, pool, meadows, etc...). No bad sites, just preferences that make one better (for you) over another.

Good morning all..
What is the app called in the App Store??

79 Days, 0 Hours and 32 Minutes.. And counting

Good Morning all...
I got the app. Thanks for all the help. Does anyone know if it will be available for Ipad in the future??

78 Days 3 hours and 9 Minutes... And counting

Just a couple of responses to the above posts. Right or Left refers to which side of the road the site is on when you are driving through. All loop roads are one-way, and all sites are back-in, so it's worth noting, since backing into left sites (driver's side) is much easier. I also prefer left sites because the awning side is angled toward the road: I really like waving at folks and chatting. If you prefer privacy you may like right side sites better. Since most loops are arranged counter-clockwise, in most cases left indicates inside, and right indicates outside... the exception is 700 which is clockwise, but it's not really "loop" shaped anyhow. And yes, most outside sites will feel more spacious and inside more cramped. I would disagree that there are no bad sites, too. There is one in particular in 600 that is simply ridiculous, and a few others that I think are objectively "bad", but by and large with most site it would come down to preference.

As for the app, the ratings are not the judgement of the developers but are Disney's own descriptions. The data (ratings, dimensions, utility info) in the app comes directly from the "great binder of site knowledge" used at the registration outpost... except for the photos, which the developers took/sourced. I'm not trying to belittle the work they put in to creating the app, just saying the info is not based on their opinions. Finally, I really doubt there will ever be an iPad version, or an upgrade of any kind. I am a member on the developer's site and have not heard any recent talk about improving it and it has been finished to the current state for a couple of years. But, who knows, they could have been keeping v2 a big secret!

I poke my head in from time to time... see who is being nice! Thanks for the welcome.
