Hi Everyone,

I just purchased my MVMCP tickets and I'm soooo excited, I could do cartwheels in my living room. The kids know nothing... We are surprising them with there very first trip on their birthday. I have no idea how I'm going to last until November 26th. We purchased some Disney Dollars, gift cards and magic bands for the surprise. I ordered them a Mickey and a Stitch plush quoting "since we can't afford the trip until your 16 and 15 (in 5 years hahaha) we will be able to dream a little. They've been asking me all sorts on questions on how it is, watching Disney movies. We don't even talk about it when they are home. I really hope they are exited when we tell them

I have 182 days to go and I feel like I'm busting at the seams to tell my kids! I'll probably tell them a couple months ahead of time but it's too early to tell them now. Otherwise all I'll hear until then is "when are we going!!!"

I'm in the same boat - we aren't going until December but I already have our MVMCP and some ADR's booked and it's killing me not to say something. But I know I would be asked multiple times on a daily basis if it's December yet and my sanity couldn't handle that lol But I do have to be careful because my son has become quite the reader and the things that I once used to be able to get away with planning with him in the room I now have to quickly close and hide! I'm sure I'm going to blow it before the trip!

We have 67 days to go- so far they have no clue. We have done the surprise trip 3 times already. Once we picked them up from school and had the secretary call down to their rooms to "Please excuse _______ to go to DisneyWorld" , 2nd times we had a package on the porch they opened and a Mickey balloon came out with the tickets attached, and last time we told them the night before. We haven't decided what to do this time..You can do it!

I'm planning to do a scavenger hunt with clues about the trip.

Do your kids love surprises in general? We surprised DD19 once when she was 8. It fell flat- she cried!

In retrospect, I realize that she's like me and needs to prepare for things and the planning is part of the fun- A big part for DD and I. Thinking and talking about vacation gets us through some cold, stressful school and work days.

So in a nutshell...my advice, don't keep it a secret. Find a good time, tell them, and enjoy planning together!

My sons love surprises. I personaly would love to be surprised also, we talk about disney all the time and we talk abot what we would do today, they watch movies all the time and we talk about rides or shows related to everything. On the plus side it will takes us 2 days to get there so we will have enough time to plan accordingly.

We all love to "plan" - or "dream" about going - what rides we would go on, what hotel we would stay at, what places we want to eat at. That is kind of our thing. We love all things Disney so it's just part of our daily conversation. So I think they get the "planning" aspect + the surprise. So best of both worlds. "Gee I wish we could go see Disney, isn't it so pretty with the Christmas lights" turns into "surprise- you can!" lol

Based on personal experience, it really depends on how your kids react to stress and "Big Change". Our kids really stress out if I let them know that I'm planning a trip and the dates. I have had better luck just plotting behind their backs and surprising them with a trip without any warning. This works the best for my kids, it may not for other childeren. I'm plotting once again for another family trip to Jan/17. I'm getting mixed signals from the kids as to how far in advance they want to know of the upcoming trip to WDW. So I'll ask them next year what their thoughts are closer to the trip to see what they think, especially now that they are older. I personally love surprising the kids, as I get to plot against them, and plan all sorts of little surprises for them.

We're going in December and I'm not telling them until we leave! To cover myself, they think I'm planning the trip in December 2016 (which we are having too).

The hardest part is actually keeping it from my extended family so they don't accidentally spoil the surprise.

I know how you feel, I'm realy scared someone will spoil the surprise.

Yeah, I hear you. We're hanging on until right when we leave. I think I might have to tip off DS a little earlier as he needs to absorb. Kind of playing it by ear.

We are 1 month to go and I can't believe I havent ruined the surprise yet!!

I'm right there with ya! We have a surprise trip planned for December. It is killing me to not say anything!

Our flight is in the morning, so my plan is to say that my car is getting repaired so Grandpa is going to come pick us up and drive us to school/work in the morning. Then, he'll just drive us to the airport instead.

We leave in 5 weeks from tomorrow and I can't believe I haven't told the kids yet! It's their 4th trip and they keep asking when we are going back and we totally have them convinced we are taking this year off from Disney... But, we talk about Disney World all the time in our house so I've been using a lot "when we do go back... questions to plan favorite restaurants and Fastpasses. We already told them dad has to go out of town for work and we will be taking him to the airport that day (something we normally do a few times a year) and then the plan is to pull out their bags in the parking garage and tell them they are going "somewhere" and wait till they get to the gate and see the "Orlando" sign.

We only have 45 days to go before we drive up to WDW! We are flying to FL for a work conference, and when it's over, we're driving to the Poly instead of the airport!! This is our first trip to Disney World, so it's going to be even that much more special. We planned the trip six months ago, so I understand the torture of waiting. There have been so many times I've wanted to blurt it out, but it's going to be the very best surprise, and one they won't soon forget.
